Ernest was shocked by Leah's surprising words.

She actually said that to him...

"I wonder what kind of woman you'd marry in the future, hm?" Leah asked, and her voice carried an inquiring tone. She watched him with anticipation. "The girl who marries you must be very lucky. You're both gentle and caring. What a great catch."

Ernest suddenly turned around and looked at Leah with a smile in his eyes. "You are very confident in me, aren't you?"

Leah nodded, and she blushed slightly. However, she nodded and said, "That's right. I've always trusted you."

Ernest stared at her deeply and did not answer.

Only then did Leah realize that maybe her question was too straightforward.

Then, she couldn't help but laugh at herself.

By then, the porridge was done and Ernest served the porridge in a bowl. Leah looked at the food in surprise.

Ernest made porridge, and it was the right type of

soft and sticky.

"Do you often make porridge? It looks great!" Leah complimented sincerely.

Ernest shook his head and said, "No, it's my first time. I'm not sure how it tastes, but I'm sure it's definitely not raw."

"Wow, you've done so well on your first time!" Leah exclaimed.

Ernest smiled and said, "I spend a lot of time in the lab, and I know my way around the equipment. Cooking should be easy as well."

It turned out that Ernest was rather gifted at cooking. The cucumbers were seasoned just right, and they were delicious. Furthermore, the eggs were done just the way she liked them. Leah liked her eggs well done, as runny egg yolks could sometimes have bacteria that could be detrimental to her body.

Leah couldn't wait to start eating the porridge. "I'm going to start eating now, okay?"

"Of course, please go ahead." Ernest nodded with a smile.

Leah immediately picked up the spoon and tasted it. "Wow, it tastes great. This is the best porridge I've had."

Ernest was amused. "Is it that good? You must be exaggerating." "I'm not exaggerating at all. It's really good." Leah praised him as she ate. "This is amazing."

"Then have more."

Ernest's phone rang at that very moment.

He glanced at his phone and found that it was his mother calling. Hence, he was stunned for a moment. Did everyone know that he wasn't home?

He just remembered that he didn't tell his mother where he went.

She must be worried about him.

Ernest answered the phone immediately. "Hi Mom. I'm sorry I didn't tell you I was going out today."

Grace smiled when she heard Ernest's voice. "Ernest, I don't think you planned on telling me at all! If I didn't notice you were gone and asked the butler, I wouldn't have known that you'd left in the middle of the night. What's up? You've got something going on, haven't you?"

Grace was being rather nosy, so Ernest explained, "My friend's sick, and she's in the hospital. I went over to visit her."

"Oh... A girl, huh?" Grace asked.

Ernest was a little confused.

His mother was becoming rather nosy these days.

Was she bored?

Ernest looked over at Leah before he averted his gaze and said, "Mom, I'll be back later. Don't worry about me."

Grace said, "Ernest, I'm not worried about you at all. Relax, I was just worried that you were hiding things from us. If you left the house in the middle of the night to visit a friend at the hospital, she must be an important friend, right?"

Ernest heard the excitement in his mother's voice and he immediately became embarrassed. He had to admit that his mother was very sharp.

Thus, Ernest had no choice but to admit it. "Yeah, you're right."

Grace cooed, "That's great! Take good care of her, okay? Take your time. You don't have to come back home, and don't even think of rushing back to England. You get that?"

Ernest was flabbergasted. How could his mother do this?

How could she encourage her son to be out with another girl? Did she want a grandchild so soon?

"You think too much, Mom." Ernest answered in a casual tone as Leah looked at him.

"Am I? Aren't you with a girl right now? No random girl will make you rush out of home at night to take care of her, so you guys must be special to one another! You're just making excuses, Ernest!" Ernest was rendered absolutely speechless.

Then, Grace chuckled. "Ernest, don't be shy. I've been waiting for this day for a long time. I've always wanted you and Gary to find someone you love, so go off and date someone! I'm looking forward to it."

It was hard for Ernest to answer as Leah was literally right in front of him. Currently, she was eating porridge at the table, but her large doe eyes were aimed his way.

Under Leah's gaze, he was having the toughest phone call of his life, and he just wanted to hang up. Hence, he said to Grace, "Okay, I need to go now. I have some errands to do, bye!"

"Wait, I'm not finished yet." Grace knew that Ernest had been with a girl all along, and she wanted to tease him. "Oh, our little Ernest is embarrassed. All right, you go do your thing. Take your time, okay? Don't come back so soon!"

"Thanks, Mom," Ernest replied.

Ernest and Leah exchanged glances when he hung up the phone.

Neither of them spoke. Hence, Ernest had to explain himself, "My mother called me just now."

Leah nodded and said, "Yeah, I heard."

"You did? Did you hear what my mother said?" Ernest asked in astonishment. Was his phone too loud? Did Leah hear everything his mother said?

Leah was surprised at how anxious Ernest seemed. "Why are you so antsy? Did she say something I'm not supposed to know?"

Oh, so Leah didn't actually hear what Grace said. Ernest breathed a sigh of relief and said, "It's nothing. Hurry up and eat."

"Your mother is worried about you, right? After all, you rushed out here in the middle of the night and you haven't returned," Leah said.

In fact, Leah hadn't been curious until she saw Ernest getting worked up. Now, she really wanted to know what his mother said.

At the same time, she noticed that Ernest's face was flushed.

This made Leah even more curious. Her eyes gleamed and she immediately chuckled. "Your mother must have said something to embarrass you. Does she suspect that you have a girlfriend that you ran off to see in the middle of the night?"

Leah even started laughing as she spoke. How heartless.

Ernest was both stunned and exasperated at Leah's boldness. She could always render him speechless, and that was rather attractive.

He admitted that Leah was very attractive indeed.

He gave Leah a look and shook his head. "Hurry up and eat, stop being so curious."

She said, "I wasn't at first, but your actions piqued my curiosity. What are you so embarrassed about? There's no need to be."

Ernest smiled but didn't say anything.

Then, Leah decided not to pursue the subject and they both ate in silence. After a while, Leah got an idea.

"Ernest, I'm actually a lot better now. If you're busy, you can leave. Didn't your mother call you? She probably wants you home." Leah used the phone call to broach the topic, and she felt very clever indeed. "No need. She said that all is well at home. My mother heard you were sick, so she asked me to take care of you, and I don't have to rush back," Ernest replied.

"Wow, your mother actually said that? I'm shocked. You must have inherited her kindness to have rushed out and care for me in the middle of the night. Does she think I'm your girlfriend?" Leah asked in surprise.
