True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1967
They exchanged glances with some subtle gestures, but they were all still taken in by Maria and Leah.
They realized that men would have their own emotions at times too.
Leah's heart skipped a beat. She figured she might have to say something to comfort Ernest later on, just in case he was having the same thought as Gary. Sigh!
She didn't think that they would all be so petty.
She was somehow grateful that Ernest didn't throw a tantrum like Gary earlier. Or else, she would be so embarrassed.
Maria looked at Liam with her big and dazzling eyes.
Liam was confused. "What are you staring at?"
Maria said, "Since Gary and Celeste went back to their rooms, should we go to our room too? Let's rest for a while."
Liam nodded. "But then didn't you say you want to go out? Are you not going out anymore?"
Maria said, "Going out during daytime is too risky for us, we might get photographed. It's better for us to go out later at night."
After thinking for a while, Liam nodded and said, "That makes sense too. Let's go upstairs then."
They all went back to their rooms.
Celeste walked into her room and saw Gary standing by the window. He was staring out the window. He was tall and his back was facing her. She couldn't see his expressions. Just by looking at his back, Celeste couldn't tell if Gary was really angry or not.
She believed that Gary heard her opening the door.
However, he did not look back.
Celeste pursed her lips. She wasn't confident about it.
After all, she turned off her phone stubbornly the previous night, and she noticed several missed calls from him when she turned on her phone again that noon. He was most likely angry at her.
Celeste could only guess, but she wasn't sure about it.
He was at least emotional about what happened.
After thinking for a while, Celeste still mustered up her courage, walked over and stood behind Gary. Looking at his tall build from behind, she finally spoke up. "Gary," she called out.
Gary didn't turn around or say anything. His back was still facing her as his lips curled into a smile.
He could tell that Celeste still cared about him. He was doing it on purpose.
Gary had to admit that he pretended to be angry. He threw a tantrum while eating and went upstairs right away as he wanted to see if Celeste would care enough about him to check in on him. Unexpectedly, she was really there.
He already had the urge to just turn around and wrap Celeste in his arms when he heard her opening the door earlier.
However, he tried hard to restrain himself from succumbing to his strong urge.
He should at least listen to what Celeste was going to say.
Seeing that he was still quiet, Celeste suddenly became nervous.
She couldn't tell his emotions at all when she didn't get to see his expression or hear his voice. She felt like she was being left in the dark, and she was just clueless.
She asked, "Are you angry?"
Gary softly snorted, still sounding extremely arrogant.
However, at least, he made a sound instead of continuing giving her the silent treatment.
Celeste was delighted. She immediately approached Gary and said in a low voice, "I'm sorry."
Gary was stunned as he didn't expect her to apologize.
Celeste continued saying without waiting for him to respond, "I was wrong. I shouldn't have turned off my phone. It was actually impulsive and I was stubborn. I still regret it now. I feel so childish for doing that." Gary finally turned around with a neutral expression as he swept a sharp glance at her guilty face.
"I really didn't expect you to apologize. You have always been so strong-willed from what I can remember. You won't even apologize when you're in the wrong," Gary said flatly.
Celeste was dumbfounded. Since when did she not want to apologize for anything?
It was basic courtesy to apologize after being in the wrong.
Gary himself was the one who wouldn't apologize even if he was in the wrong. Was he referring to himself instead?
Celeste lowered her gaze in silence and pursed her lips even more.
"Did you feel proud of yourself for making me spend the night on my own last night?" Gary continued to ask.
Celeste looked like a guilty child who did something wrong as she lowered her head.
Gary stopped talking.
After a long time, Celeste muttered with slight embarrassment, "I didn't feel proud. I was just enjoying that moment with Leah and Maria that I didn't want to be disturbed. I was afraid that I couldn't bear to reject your call as you would continue to look for me, that's why I decided to just turn off my phone."
Celeste's voice became lower and lower as she spoke, almost becoming inaudible in the end. Gary still managed to hear it clearly as his hearing was particularly good.
His smile grew wider, but he still purposely asked while acting doubtful, "Does that mean you might've followed me back if I really barged into the room last night? Is that what you mean by saying that you couldn't bear to reject me?"
Celeste was startled. It did sound possible.
She hesitated for a moment, but still nodded.
"I really regret not doing that now. I shouldn't have walked away last night and I shouldn't have shown you mercy," Gary said with a regretful tone.
Celeste immediately noticed something as she raised her head and saw Gary's mischievous gaze.
Celeste suddenly realized that she was still too inexperienced in it, while Gary was just too good at it.
She was careless and still fell into his trap.
Ernest was right. Gary was just putting on an act to make her go to him.
Yet she was acting like a timid sheep, and even took the initiative to apologize to him.
Celeste took a deep breath and looked away.
Gary smiled as he saw her cheeks turning red for a while. He found it amusing and then chuckled.
Celeste glared at him again.
Gary said shamelessly, "You finally realized you've fallen into my trap, didn't you? After you realize that I purposely made you come up here, now you're angry but embarrassed, aren't you?" Celeste didn't know what to say when he was completely right about her.
She could only glare at him angrily as she tried to suppress her emotions.
Gary continued saying, "There's nothing to be embarrassed about. I told you earlier on that we should cherish every moment together, and that includes every day and night. You were the one who locked me out last night. You broke our promise. Isn't that true?"
Celeste was speechless.
Also, she felt guilty.
Gary was telling the truth. It was a promise he made to her when they were in Boston.
He said he wanted to fall sleep and wake up to her every single day.
He even said that it would be the simplest yet greatest happiness that he could have in his life.
Celeste could recall her eyes turning teary upon hearing those words back then. She was deeply touched.
She even hugged him excitedly.
It was also at that time that she promised she would strive to not let anything or anyone set them apart, and would be with him forever.
However, she was also the one who broke their promise.
Celeste had never imagined herself breaking the promise first.
Thinking of that, Celeste looked even more embarrassed.
