Ernest's call was ended abruptly. He did not get to ask about the things he did not understand.

He was thoroughly confused.

It should be early morning in the United States at that hour.

Was Lowell not free?

Why was that?

In Ernest's opinion, it would not be inconvenient for him unless he was with a woman. Could Lowell actually be living with a woman?

Did he have a girlfriend? How come he had never heard of it?

Ernest shrugged with suspicion as he looked at everyone else around him. "Something's off, but I just can't wrap my head around it."

"The call was so short, and he was inconvenient to talk," Leah said, "Perhaps he is a little busy. Don't think too much about it."

"It's dawn there. What could he be busy with?" Ernest asked. "Even for Gary to have gone to the United States, something big must have happened. Lowell must know what happened. Why didn't he explain anything to me?" "We don't know, so we shouldn't make wild guesses," Leah said, "Now, what we want to know is, what is up with Gary."

"Perhaps we were really overthinking," Liam thought for a while before he said, "I hope it's nothing big."

Maria also thought about it, she thought that maybe Liam really thought too much, and so did she.

The four of them sat downstairs for a long time. After waiting for over an hour, Lowell finally called Ernest. Ernest answered the phone quickly. "Uncle Lowell, are you done being busy?"

Lowell said, "Yes, I was in the lab, I was busy with some data."

Ernest was startled, then he smiled. "What kind of experiment was it, Uncle Lowell? Why were you so busy?"

"It's medicine," Lowell replied.

When Ernest heard that, he knew that it was not right for him to get too deep into the details. Otherwise, it will seem as if he just didn't find him trustworthy, so he said, "I see. Well then, you should take care of your health better."

"I will." Lowell smiled gently and said, "You called me just now and said that there were some things you could not figure out, and that you wanted to talk to me. You can ask me now, I have time."

"Actually, I am a little curious about Gary. He returned to the United States in such a hurry. What actually happened? With Gary's temper, it would be impossible for him to leave Celeste behind while he went to the Unite States by himself. They are in their honeymoon period now. He would not be at ease."

Everyone was looking at Ernest as he talked on the phone.

"That is his arrangement." Lowell smiled. "I don't know why Gary did that, but I think he must have his reasons."

That was an extremely flawless answer.

Ernest was stunned.

"Okay, Uncle Lowell. I will ask this one more time seriously. Is there really nothing strange going on?"

"What kind of strange things are you referring to?" Lowell said, "Why don't you give me a hint?"

"Well, since that's the case, then I will stop asking," Ernest said, "I just heard Maria say that she saw Celeste crying when she went upstairs. I don't know why."

When Lowell heard that, he was slightly stunned for a while. He was quiet for a long time.

So, Ernest did not say anything else either. He believed that if something really happened, Lowell would definitely let Gary know that Celeste had cried. That way, their goal would have been achieved too.

"Is Celeste sad because Gary did not allow her to come with her?" Lowell finally spoke, he seemed to be speaking in a solemn tone.

Ernest was stunned as well, he said, "Maria heard Celeste say that Gary did not allow her to go with him, and that was why she felt upset and cried."

"If that's the case, then you guys should go and comfort Celeste. If there's nothing else, I will end the call now, and I'll give Celeste a call," Lowell said. Ernest was stunned, he said, "Okay, that works too."

After that, the call ended.

In the room upstairs, Celeste's phone rang as she was reading a book.

She picked the phone up and looked at it, the call was from Lowell.

Celeste hesitated for a moment, in the end, she still decided to answer the call. She heard Lowell's voice from the other end of the phone.

"Celeste?" Lowell asked.

"Hello, Uncle Lowell." Celeste's tone was very calm.

She had calmed herself down for a few hours, and she had become much calmer then.

That was why she was able to speak to Lowell in such a calm tone.

"Celeste, Gary is coming to Boston, didn't you follow him?" Lowell thought for a while, and he thought that instead of beating around the bushes, it was better for him to get to the point directly. "That's right, he wouldn't let me follow him," Celeste said, "Anyway, it doesn't matter. I already know about it."

"You know about it?" Lowell raised his voice suddenly.

Only then did Celeste realize what she had said. She quickly corrected herself and said, "Yes, I know he is doing this for my own good. He said he doesn't want me to be tired." Lowell sighed with relief as he heard that.

"That's right, that's right. He is definitely doing this for your own good," Lowell said.

Celeste smiled bitterly. It seemed that Lowell did not know that Janice had used his phone.

Since Celeste knew how everything unfolded, she roughly understood why Lowell was calling too.

She spoke, "Yes, he went to Boston to deal with some problems by himself. I believe he should be able to handle it."

"That's right. You have to trust Gary," Lowell solemnly said, "The relationship between the two of you is already so deep. I know that you two trust each other the most." Celeste could only smile bitterly. Even though she knew that Lowell was doing this out of kindness, her current situation was not easy to be dealt with.

If something did happen between Janice and Gary, she would not continue to be with Gary.

"That's right, Uncle Lowell. I trust him very much," Celeste said. "I believe that he won't do anything that goes against our relationship. If he did, we will have to part ways."

In the end, Celeste still said those words, bearing a hidden message to inform Lowell of her plans.

She did not want to act to be so open-hearted.

Right then, she could only wait for the results.

There was no denying to the fact that Lowell only made the phone call to appease her.

She knew what Lowell was worried about.

He was probably worried of her thinking too much.

"You don't have to do this," Lowell said, "Gary will not do anything to hurt you. You don't have to worry about that."

"Gary might not have taken the initiative to do anything." Celeste paused for a moment before she continued, "I am just afraid that someone else might have ulterior moves, like Janice." When she said that, Celeste could clearly hear Lowell's gasp through the phone.

She had a feeling that Lowell must have felt guilty.

After all, anyone would feel uncomfortable to hide such facts.

"Celeste, what makes you think so?" Lowell felt that there was a hidden message behind Celeste's words, and the phone call also made him realize that Celeste was different from the past. "Uncle Lowell, I haven't forgotten about what happened in the past," Celeste said, "Although I want to forget about it, that scene of me bleeding out in Boston is still vivid in my mind. It traumatized me." Lowell remained silent.

He also thought of that, and the shocking amount of blood. Every time Lowell thought about it, he would feel a little suffocated.

In the end, Janice still managed to take advantage of the situation.

"Take care of yourself, Uncle Lowell. You'd better come back for the Spring Festival. Aunt Smith misses you very much." Celeste smiled. "I also think that it is too lonely for you to spend the Spring Festival outside. Why don't you come home for the Spring Festival?"

"Oh, okay." Lowell replied perfunctorily, "Celeste, take care of yourself. Gary will be back in a few days."

"I will," Celeste said, "No matter what happens, I will take good care of myself."
