True Love
(Book 3) – Chapter 120

-You see… that night I leave consequences. And so, I will be the true wife of Jean Dubois and the mother of his baby. I’m the only one who can fill that position, not you. A stripper who thinks she’s a lady… well… she laughs mockingly. -Not so much of a lady.

Look dead fly, if you’re done, get the hell out of here. Before I sweep the floor with you.

-You won’t touch a hair on the fringe of my head.

-You don’t know where I come from little woman, you’d better go back where you came from you harpy. Maya says angrily.

-Who’s going to get me out? You? You can’t lay a finger on me.

-What do you mean, I can’t?

The brunette throws herself on the blonde dragging her to the lift… while she screamed at her to let her go. When she leaves Adelaine’s body in the machine, Maya looks at her reluctantly.

-Don’t come back, you poisonous snake.

The girl returns to her friend who was in shock and paler than she had ever been in her life… her eyes were beginning to turn red. And tears were welling up under the rim of her eyes.

-Zoe, baby. He says calmly.

And that’s when the brunette breaks down crying in her friend’s arms. Maya holds her tightly because the girl had lost control of her legs. So they were both left sitting on the floor at the entrance of the house.

-Calm down, my friend, I’m sure it’s all a lie from that woman.

-It’s not a lie. She says confidently.

-How do you know?

-Because she told me they had slept together a few weeks ago.

-But it could be a lie.

-It’s not. Jean’s father corroborated me that they went out, besides Jean is a playboy. Do you think he’s not going to f**k that woman? And now she’s expecting his baby.

-Zoe, but…

-It’s over! -I’m not leaving a child without a father.

-But what if he doesn’t want to be with that woman, he wants to be with you. -But he wants to be with you.

-But she’s expecting his baby.

-So what about that?

Zoé returns to her serious expression, wipes her tears and then stands up with the help of her friend. She enters the residence and goes straight to her room, being followed by her friend. The brunette takes out her old suitcase with her old clothes.

-Zoe, what the hell are you doing?

-I’m leaving!

-Wait a minute, you just got married three days ago and you’re already thinking of leaving. At least wait for Jean to come back and explain.

-No. He’s going to tell me lies, he doesn’t love me and if the other one is pregnant, he’ll surely face that mistake. I don’t figure in his life, so I might as well make life easier for her by leaving.

-But what about her father, the inheritance and….

-If he marries that woman, he’ll have everything. He doesn’t need me.

-Where are we going? -Where are we going?

-I’ll go alone, you’re with Adrien. -I don’t want to ruin that for you. I don’t want to ruin that for you.

-No way, I’m going with you. -No way.

-Maya.

In the end, Zoé gathered her things… only the ones that were hers. Leaving all the clothes Jean had bought her. Her friend ended up convincing her to stay at Adrien’s, promising her that she would talk to the blond to keep the secret of where she was.

As soon as the girls arrived at the young man’s flat, Zoé lay down on the bed and all she did was cry… hating herself because she resented the fact that it hurt her what was happening. And even though she denied it over and over again, she really liked Jean. She did like him.

The brothers went back to the building where they both lived, but Adrien went up to his brother’s instead. Since he knew that Maya was there. But when they entered, everything was silent and dark.

-Zoe? Jean calls. He turned on the lights but the young woman was nowhere to be seen.

-Maya? But nothing.

-Strange, they must be at your house. Jean says.

-Let’s go!

They arrived at the flat, finding Maya in the kitchen… but she was alone.

-Maya, what are you doing here? Where is Zoé? Adrien asked, entering with Jean. The girl paled…

-What’s wrong? Where is she? Jean is the one who asks.

-She’s gone.

-Where to? He asks with a frown.

-She left France. She… left. He answers.

Jean Pierre Dubois’ heart was about to burst into a thousand pieces… she was gone? But why? This had to be a joke between the two of them.

-What are you talking about, baby? Adrien asks.

-Zoe found out that the blonde is pregnant with Jean’s child, and well… her. I’m so sorry Jean.

The blond was in a trance, this definitely had to be a f*****g joke… furious, Jean went into the rooms of his brother’s house but all of them were empty. She really wasn’t there. She had abandoned him.

-Calm down Jean, she can’t be far away. Let’s go look for her.

-Where? -Where the f**k am I going to look for her?

-Come on baby, tell me where she is. -Come on baby, tell me where she is.

-I swear I don’t know. -I swear I don’t know. She wouldn’t take me, she left me too. She says with a broken voice.

Adrien goes over to her to hug her… Jean, when he saw the girl wailing, recognized that she wasn’t lying. His wife had left him only three days into their marriage and he didn’t even give her the benefit of the doubt. He turned and left his brother’s residence.

-Jean. Adrien shouts.

-Leave me alone. He replies seriously.

As soon as he arrives at his flat the blond enters his room expecting to find it empty, but was surprised to see all of his wife’s clothes there. Not a single item of clothing had been taken. Out of sheer rage, he grabbed her things and threw them on the floor. He was so angry, and it was all Adelaine’s fault, he stuck his nose where no one had called it.

-Damn it! he shouts.

At Adrien’s residence, a brunette came out from where she was hiding. The wardrobe was her best option, when she heard the door give way she immediately went to hide. She wouldn’t last long in that flat. She had to leave as soon as possible. Hiding from Jean and also from Adrien was going to be very hard. Unbidden, tears ran down her cheeks. She didn’t want to cry anymore, but it was inevitable.

In the morning, her friend came into her room to tell her that Adrien had left for work… and she thought this was her chance to leave once and for all. Then there was a knock on the door, and before Zoé could hide, Antonie Dubois entered her son’s house.

-This is where you hide. Says the old man entering with his cane in his hands.

-Mr. Dubois. But… What are you doing here? Zoé asks in surprise.

-I knew you were hiding here, I know everything, girl. Even your little night job.

-What? She looks at her friend and then at the old man sitting on the sofa.

-I’ve come to make a deal with you.

-What deal? Look, Mr. Dubois, I…

 Be quiet! I’ll only stay a moment, I’ve come to tell you to stay away from my son. I know you’re married, but I know he’s only looking for you to be his wife and nothing more. You have no future together, I will never allow my son to get mixed up with a stripper. He says with contempt.

-You should let your son choose his own life. She crosses her arms.

-I won’t, he doesn’t know how to make good decisions. Well, at least not with women. And that’s why Adelaine is the perfect candidate. And now that she’s pregnant! I should imagine you already know all about it, if you weren’t here in my youngest son’s house.

-Look, sir, if you’ve come here just to insult and humiliate me, you’d better leave. And don’t worry about your son. Because I’m leaving today and you’ll never see me again.

-Very well, that reassures me. But you won’t leave as quickly as you think, you’re still married to Jean and I can’t let you leave without signing this.

The old man takes some papers out of his bag to throw them on the table… He takes out a pen and places it next to the papers.

-Sign! He orders.

-What are these?

Divorce papers. Sign them, and you’ll be free of Jean.

-Does he know about this?

-That’s the demos, just sign them and go. Look… he takes out a wad of money and puts it next to the papers. -With that you can go far away and never come back.

-He thinks that because he has a lot of money he has the right to come and tell me all this.

-I do… do you care enough about my son not to sign? Have you fallen in love with Jean? I haven’t… I’ve seen the way you look at him. But it won’t do you any good, because he’s engaged to another woman who’s carrying his child in her womb.

-You know something Mr Dubois that… -If you don’t sign and leave…

-If you don’t sign and leave, I will disinherit my son. I won’t give him a penny and I’ll ruin all his businesses. The ones he’s worked so hard to raise. I’ll put him out on the street! Is that what you want?

The brunette’s eyes watered in seconds, she didn’t want to cry in front of that man but given the cruel words he was saying about her son, her heart couldn’t take it anymore.
