Twisting Her Fate -
Chapter 107
Lani holds Evie close and the boys walk in front of them in a protective way. Leilani still isn't at full capacity and she also has the burden of looking after Evie even though they can't sense any others doesn't mean that it isn't possible that there are some "Find all the girls and we need to let their families know as soon as we can. We do not have the capacity to look after these girls, we don't have the training for the type of help they're going to need"
In their own training they have touched on the basis of most things, but grief and trauma counselling is a little too in-depth for what they can accomplish. Arlo replies.
"We have Terrance and Levi out getting ready to contact the people we need. We just need confirmation. We don't want to contact the wrong families and give false hope"
"Good plan"
Hudson looks back at Lani for confirmation. She nods and he starts to unlock the door, pushing it open slowly as to not startle the occupant.
Obviously, at the moment, the girls don't know they're being rescued, so they can't risk startling someone and getting to the point where they have to try and subdue a victim and getting them hurt in the process. They have no idea what type of condition anyone is in, if there are even any others, or whether Evie just made it through this long as a one off.
Evie is going well considering the circumstances, apart from being incredibly attached to Leilani.
The door opens to reveal a room very similar to Evie's room. The main colouring is black. The equipment is much the same except this time the girl isn't suspended. There is just a girl curled up in the small bed in a foetal position. A slight shudder of the shoulders is the only movement from her, giving the impression that she is crying.
Lani looks at Evie, who understands her straight away, pulling back slightly and gripping Leilani's hand as they move forward together. It is nothing against the boys. It is just better for the women to approach in this circumstance just to see where she's at first. Lani peers over at the girls side face, even though it is mostly obscured by a pillow, she can see who it is straight away. "Rosalie?"

Gabriel sits in his study thinking over everything that he has been told, thinking over all the things that he originally thought about Maggie, but maybe he has been blind this whole time. If she actually did kill Karina and he's not saying that she didn't, for what purpose would she do it? It's not like the necklace would have meant that much to her and that is not a justified reason for killing someone. Maggie forms no attachment to anything and has told him on numerous occasions that she thinks her mother is weak and laughs about how her father controls her every move.
Maggie's actions do seem like that of a guilty person. If it was true and Maggie had seen someone take her life like that in front of her, wouldn't she have said something? Wouldn't that be slightly traumatic for someone that has not really been exposed to that type of thing?
To incinerate the body before he has even come to inspect it? It is not the actions of an innocent person. Maggie has never been the official luna of the half moon, she is not even technically a member of the half-moon pack, she has no right to go behind his back like that, the fact that two whole weeks can pass and he doesn't even know. It makes him look incompetent.
A luna is meant to stand by his side and help. He never really thought about the use of a luna much before, but everything that Connor has been saying, the way that Connor is talking about the luna position like it is of value makes Gabriel re-evaluate. He watched his father run the pack without his mother and always assumed that the position was superfluous.
Maggie should be helping and if she isn't, she should at least be controlling herself to not make him look like a joke. She is still an amber pack member, if it is true and Maggie really has killed someone within the half moon pack lands that reflects so badly on Gabriel.
Everything from the past few weeks is really starting to weigh down on him. He hates to stare his own failings in the face. He always thought he was going well at everything. Now he is starting to feel like he has glaring deficiencies which, for a man with an ego the size of Gabriel's, it is hard to cope with.
Gabriel's head is hurting, thinking too hard about things he shouldn't have to deal with, mixing with the alcohol that is clouding his judgement. He has no idea what to do. If the matter of Karina was to get out, does he defend the woman that he can't stand? But if he doesn't, then he is the reason she is like she is within the pack. Everything she does comes back to him.
He doesn't need this trouble on top of everything else.
Gabriel leans his forehead on the table, staring blanking at the paperwork that is near his nose, his hot breath bouncing back into his own face, he has no energy to deal with this, he has no energy to deal with the meeting tonight. He really should go to his father and see what it is all about, but he just needs to rest for a moment, the clarity he was promised was not delivered.
Gabriel drifts off into sleep.
In the bedroom, Maggie has just finished showering, she has pushed back the thoughts of her blood, of the rejection. Her thoughts solely focused on the fact that she will finally get her position, so what if her pathetic mother never got it. She isn't her mother. She will accomplish what her pathetic birth mother only dared to dream about.
Maggie stands in the walk in closet with a towel wrapped around her, her hand running over the expensive fabric of her dresses in many colors. If she had known that this was coming, then she would have been prepared with a hair and makeup team. The dress she has had sorted for months.
She always believed that Gabriel would mark her on his twenty-fifth birthday, so she has had a custom dress ordered and, thankfully, it arrived two weeks ago. The towel drops and Maggie shimmies into the form-fitting dress, missing the underwear since it is impossible to wear with this type of dress.
Maggie turns, looking at herself in the full-length mirror, she is flawless, she looks a luna, she looks like a queen.
The dress is white with a slight blue glimmer through the shimmery material. She wanted it to represent the moon, so everyone knew that even if the moon goddess didn't bless this union, she is the moon, forging her own path.
She is exactly where she is meant to be.
No one will ever make her believe otherwise.
Jameson knocks on Ryan's door, entering Ryan's bedroom and sitting on the bed, watching Ryan get dressed into his suit, Ryan may be younger, but he has the spark of wisdom that is rare in people his age or maybe the events of the last two days have matured him ten years.
Ryan looks in the mirror at Jameson.
"How did you go?"
"I don't know, I told him, he was drunk and dismissed the whole thing"
"Maybe when I become alpha I will be able to do something about her"
Jameson smirks as he looks straight back at Ryan.
"You might not have to. Maggie is a position chaser. If Gabriel is no longer an alpha, she might start chasing you"
Ryan laughs.
"You know I would have told you that I am holding out for my mate, but look at what mum did to dad, I am starting to think whether fated or not, it is easy to get f*cked over"
"Don't lose faith in it all because of a few bad ones. Gabriel's fated and Maggie's fated actually chose each other and I have never seen two more compatible people"
"Very true. Oh well, when it happens, it happens. It will not be Maggie. Right now I am more worried about this mess. Does Gabriel know yet?"
"Unless Lance has spoken to him in this short time, he doesn't"
"Lance is unbelievable, if he springs that on the man in front of everyone"
"I was tempted to tell him, but I really feel like it isn't our place"
"Do you think I can beat him if it comes to that?"
"It is hard to tell if I haven't seen you fight, but you will have backup. Do you think it will come to that?"
"I don't exactly know Gabriel that well, but how could you possibly take that sort of news? It's about on par with finding out the other day that I'm not my father's son. It's impossible not to be angry about it and if he's angry about it, who's he going to lash out on? It's not going to be on Lance who he knows he can't beat. It will be on the intruder, the cause of the problem, as he will see it"
"I definitely think that Lance should have gone a different way about all this"
"I think Lance should have kept it in his pants to start with"
Jameson laughs.
"Yeah maybe, but that could be said about a lot of children"
Ryan watches as Jameson leaves the room to go get himself ready for the night. He is glad he has Jameson as back-up because he is not sure how much he can rely on this scumbag father of his.
