Twisting Her Fate
Chapter 125

escape plan. It is just inbuilt in a wolfs nature.

Connor follows the car to four packs before they finally go to a motel and turn in for the night. Fortunately, the accommodation is backed onto the forest. It is easy to anticipate Levi's choice, as a wolf will naturally need to be closer to the wild, there is always an Connor settles in for the night. He actually sleeps the best he has slept in a while. Maybe it is the knowledge that he is getting closer to Leilani.

Inside the motel room, Levi calls Hudson.

"I don't know. I just feel weird"

Levi listens as the sound of fingers on a keyboard filters through the phone.

"I don't know what to tell you, his car is in the stormy pack and his mobile is moving within the pack"

"Hmm, it must be my imagination"

"Would it be the worst thing if he did?"

Levi's hand rubs down his face.

"I don't even know anymore. I have gotten used to the way life is now"

"But..."

"It doesn't matter anyway, Connor truly has given up now"

Hudson frowns as he looks over at the woman in the kitchen, a white blonde french braid swinging as she moves in front of the cook top. He wants to say more but he holds his tongue. **Three weeks after separation**

The door of the Azure pack house swings open and Evie grips Connor's hand so tightly that her nails dig into his flesh. Connor looks up at the two at the top of the steps, his breath catches in his throat as he looks at the woman. Evie presses her eyes shut and slowly opens them again.

"I am not me"

She throws open the passenger door of the car, displaying all of the confidence where she feels none. Connor watches her and nods appreciately. He opens the drivers door and steps out, meeting Evie at the front of the vehicle.

Evie holds Connor's arm in an effort to keep herself on her feet as she stares at the two in front of her. One with the exact same face that looks back in the mirror every day, but there are a few differences. This face has a healthy glow, her cheeks are filled with a healthy diet and an active lifestyle, her blonde hair is cut off to just above her shoulders and the thing that really sets them apart is the girl standing in front of her, her very own twin sister's eyes are not soulless, they have not seen too much, they are not empty, haunted.

There is still life and joy shining in the honey-colored orbs.

Evie presses her eyes closed to try and hold back her tears. As she opens them again, her eyes run from her sisters healthy body down her arm to a hand that is firmly intertwined with another.

Evie's breath hitches in her throat, she can't even look.

A sweet innocent voice sounds drawing her eyes back to a honey-colored set.

"I am alpha Madison and this is my mate Alpha Damon"

Sweet laughter fills the space.

"I know, I know, it sounds strange, two alphas in a relationship. Don't worry, we are in the process of joining the two packs together so I can become the luna"

Evie looks to the eyes of the man that was supposed to be her mate. Was that a lie? Connor places an arm around Evie to help keep her upright, he is supporting all her weight.

Connor has no idea who these people are, but looking at the girl who looks frighteningly similar, he can only assume that she is at very least her sister. The way that Evie is reacting to the man, he can assume that this man is the one that Evie believed she was fated

to.

Connor looks down at Madison's exposed shoulder. Seeing that mark, it is hard to know whether Damon lied to Evie or whether the act of him marking someone else canceled out the bond that the wolves never truly got to feel.

"I am alpha Storm and this is my third in command"

Madison looks at the girl who looks close to passing out. She doesn't have the aura that she was expecting of the infamous Leilani, but the rest looks right. Madison can only assume that the rumour far outweighs reality.

Madison and Damon show Evie and Connor into the pack house. Evie looks around, nothing looks familiar anymore. This used to be such a warm and comforting place. Now it is ultra modern, the sofa is beautiful, but it even looks uncomfortable. The photos of the pack throughout the years, different generations and special moments are gone, replaced by clean crisp walls. It is as impersonal and sterile as a show home.

Connor pulls on Evie's arm, making her sit on the sofa beside him. She is not even sure when she made it into the room so far. She looks at the couple across from her and realizes that she has to pull herself together.

The couple are already looking at her oddly, as she looks back at the two, so happy and so touchy she knows that the change in decor is the least of her worries right now. Evie pinches Connor on the arm and Connor knows that she is in no condition to speak and he will have to lead the conversation.

"I have just been meeting with the packs around the area. As you know, the Stormy pack is growing at such a rate, the stronger and larger our pack is, the bigger need there is for stronger allies, so we are just gauging the reaction of the packs around us" Damon hasn't said a single word to this point. His penetrating gaze just fixed on the woman beside Connor, her skin is sickly pale and she looks like she is on the verge of passing out. There is something so familiar about the woman, but he just can't put his finger on the reason. His wolf is present less and less these days, so it is hard to tell where he knows her from.

Madison leans into Damon while looking at Connor. Connor is beautiful and in a world full of beautiful people, it is hard for one to stand out, but he stands out above the rest. He is glorious.

"The Azure pack is located quite a distance from the Stormy pack"

"It is, this is the extent of where we are looking, still close enough that we can help in any situation without too much delay"

Madison nods as her hand runs up and down Damon's thigh, her long manicured red nails making a dull sound against the denim. Evie's eyes are just stuck on the motion, the sound to her might as well be nails down a chalkboard. Her nerve endings shudder as the nails pass over every thread. Connor can feel the woman beside him shaking like a leaf. She is so frail that he is afraid to exert the type of strength required to keep her supported.

Madison just nods slowly, having no idea the effect she is having on her twin sister.

"Makes sense"

She giggles as she holds Damon around the waist, the movement pulling Damon's shirt enough that Madison's mark on his shoulder is revealed. Evie knew it was there, but for some reason it still hurts to see, the fabric was the barrier that prevented her from believing the reality.

Her mind just keeps going back to the year that Damon and Evie were dating after his eighteenth birthday, all his sweet words, telling her that she knew she was the one for him before his wolf even awoke. That she was it for him, the only one she would ever love, the only one he would ever be with.

She would love to believe that Damon being with her twin sister is some strange homage to her, but Madison and Evie couldn't be more different. The looks are the same, such is with identical twins, but everything else is almost opposite.

They didn't get along very well growing up. Evie tried to forge a friendship. She wanted to be as close as she knew twins could be. She even wanted a close sister bond but it was impossible.

Evie knew long ago that Damon and her wouldn't be possible, the thought of taking a mate, having to be intimate, it is longer possible.

But to see this?

Evie doesn't even have the words to describe it, it makes her nauseous, angry and upset all at once.

"So is it something you would be interested in?"

"Of course, we would be fools to turn down having an ally in the Stormy pack"

Connor nods, trying not to show any discomfort, even though Evie is twisting the skin on his arm so tightly that he is not sure how it is still attached. Connor didn't even know she had enough strength to do damage.

"Well, now that that is settled, I think we should learn a bit more about each other. Let me know what you would like to know about the Stormy pack and let me know a bit about your own pack"

Damon's eyes narrow as he looks from the woman to Connor. Connor is said to be the 'it' alpha, the one that all others will follow. Damon's parents have said numerous times since he told them about this meeting to make sure he takes notes, maybe he can take what he has learned and become a better alpha, but for now, to Damon, Connor is just acting strange.

Madison nods, having none of the reservations that Damon has, she has no resistance to a beautiful face.

"Makes sense, where do you want to start?"
