Twisting Her Fate -
Chapter 141
Oscar wipes the blood from his knuckles with a rag as he looks over Simon's beaten face and body. He is starting to be in the same mindset as his mother, feeling that Simon isn't even worth it because what he has now is so much better than what he ever had before. But he also feels like he has a duty to help with the punishment of this man. Sometimes he wishes that they could just kill Simon, getting it all over with and moving on with their lives. But that would not offer enough justice for the people that Simon has hurt. Death means he will suffer no more. He will pay for his crimes, no more. All those people he hurt deserve his pain. They deserve his blood spilt all over the ground. They deserve his life to be a living nightmare of pain and not even the slightest sliver of hope, the tiniest ray of brightness. They have declawed Simon, not so he doesn't fight back, just to stop the ease of him taking himself out. Simon doesn't deserve the easy way.
Oscar kicks Simon once more, breaking his neck, before walking out of the cell. He stops at Gabriel's cell, looking into the barred room. If it wasn't for the bars, anyone would think this is a luxury bedroom, he has plush bedding, he has access to gaming and the internet. Obviously, Hudson has set up harsh parameters on the digital use so that Gabriel cannot contact the outside world, but other than that he is well taken care of.
They get women twice weekly to satisfy Gabriel's desires. Terrance gives them a potion at the end, so they forget the whole experience every time. Gabriel has been with a few of them many times and it is like the first time every time, there is never any connection, just the way Gabriel likes it.
Gabriel looks over from the program he is watching.
"Oscar"
"How are you doing?"
"Would you believe me if I said my life was actually pretty good?"
"It looks like it is a lot more relaxing than real life"
"I can't even remember what stress is"
"I have to go, I have to look after the twins"
"How are they doing?"
"Ace is exactly like Connor, he is way too sensible for a two and a half year old and Elena is a free spirit, fearless and so insanely beautiful that she can get away with murder"
"Bring them to visit when you have a chance"
"Mum is cooking you something special for tonight, so I might bring them later"
Gabriel nods as he leans back in his chair. Finlay trained him to within an inch of his life today. Every muscle in his body is hurting. He is excited whenever Astrid cooks him something special, she is like the mum that he missed out on knowing. 3 weeks after separation
Gabriel peers out from around the tree at Leilani who, has walked out of the filthy toilets, she had been in there so long that he was close to going in after her but she finally emerged he thought it was his shot and then her brothers arrive, there is only two this time but Gabriel is not confident enough to believe that he actually has a chance against the two, maybe if he was in his best condition but he is far from that at the moment, he has only been eating after a hunt every two or so days, too desperate to find where Leilani is, the girl that could fix everything for him.
Gabriel's hand rubs on the other in an obsessive fashion like he can still feel Maggie's blood soaking his limb.
It all changed that night, the night that his claws tore in through her perfect dress, the moment his hand wrapped around Maggie's heart, the way he pulled it out without blinking an eyelid.
Watching the organ still beating in his hand as Maggie's limp body crumpled to the floor, a set of hazel eyes still staring at him in shock and horror, like she was still questioning how he could do that to her.
He watched those eyes that would blink no more, he watched her face, he felt no sorrow, no regret, only relief.
The whole pack stared at him in horror. He looked back over his shoulder and looked at his half brother who was watching the whole situation with a placid face. The smell of blood filled the area, he heard the shocked gasps, a child started to scream and then the final string that was tethering his sanity snapped. He ran. He only had one thought in his mind as his large wolf surged forward, leaving the human locked up in the back of his mind.
There was only one thought. Find Leilani.
Leilani is the key to everything. She can fix this. Leilani will get him his position back. She can smooth everything over and make everyone understand that he is the one that should be running the pack. He is the true alpha of the half moon pack. Everything that happened before was a mistake, but it's nothing he can't rectify.
He burst out of the meeting room with clothes tattering around him, leaving his father and Ryan staring in silence.
Ryan expected a lot of things, but he did not expect Maggie to die in such a way. There is not much pity in the room for the woman. There is only shock at Gabriel's actions and then exit. Ryan looks at his father, not even bothering to look at the dead body.
"You could have handled that a bit better"
He says so quietly that no one else can hear, but to the pack he announces in a clear and steady voice like a catastrophic event did not just happen.
"It has been very nice to meet you all and I look forward to getting to know you better, but for now we might just call it a night"
Ryan throws Lance one more scathing look before he walks out of the room. Jameson walking closely behind.
The half moon pack knows where they stand. They know that Ryan can be level-headed in that sort of situation.
Gabriel is long gone. The big blonde wolf has a singular mind. The half moon pack is not even on his radar. He has got one goal, one prey and he won't stop until he has acquired it.
After going to the stormy pack and trying to make sense of the weird situation with Leilani no longer being there and another female Alpha she wolf being in the pack instead, Gabriel let his wolf take over completely and that led him to the house that Leilani and her group have been hiding out in.
He has been watching the house for days but there has not been an opportunity to get to her. She is so well protected and it would be a complete suicide mission to approach her.
Gabriel's fingers touch a trunk of the tree as he eyes Lani. There is something off about her but he can't quite put his finger on it. From what he has seen, she has been upset, but this is different. There is something else. There is something strange about her scent as well.
Gabriel watches with wolf eyes. There is nothing reasonable. There is nothing civil left about him. He is animalistic, pure and simple. One goal and nothing will stop that. Nothing will stand in his way. Gabriel watches as the brothers leave her side. He is surprised, but thankful.
Leilani continues her walk without sensing him at all. Her steps are slightly erratic, looking like she's about to fall over at any stage.
Gabriel walks into the clearing, saying a few things to her. He doesn't even know what he has said. Just trying to decide when the best time is to grab her and take her away from here.
Gabriel's eyes move down to the white plastic stick in Leilani's hand. He squints trying to register where he has seen something like that before.
His human is nowhere near, it is pure animal mind.
He is untethered.
Pregnancy test stick.
That is where he has seen that before.
That is the change in scent. She is with pup.
His fated mate is pregnant to another.
Another Alpha soiled her womb with his seed, his competition took what was his.
"You are pregnant?"
Gabriel's voice is a far cry from his silky smooth, masculine, near relaxed voice, sounding more like a snarl. It isn't a question, it is more of a statement.
Leilani looks at him. Her stormy blue eyes filled with fear as he takes a menacing step towards her.
Lani can easily tell that even though he is in human form, there is nothing human about the man in front of her. The wolf's eyes are glowing, showing that the beast is completely in control. A wolf leading the human form is completely unpredictable and hard to fight against if she was at her best.
Leilani readies herself for attack but she is feeling lightheaded already. This is a stress she did not need to add at all.
"No mate of mine will carry a baby of another man"
Gabriel launches at Lani, shifting as he bares his teeth opening his jaw, all that is running through his head is to end the baby, not noticing for a second about what such an action will do to Leilani. Not comprehending that spilling her guts in such a way will kill her as well.
Leilani evades, she is not sure if she can shift, she has done very little research on pregnancy, not thinking it was what she would be going through in the near future. Finlay and Madden run the fastest they have ever run in their lives, taking out the large wolf with precision and restraining him before he has a chance to close his jaw around her.
It was too close.
