Twisting Her Fate -
Chapter 154
Connor stands, his shorts hanging low on his hips, his glorious body is bathed in sunlight, the glittering water behind him adding an extra dimension to his glorious figure. He reaches out a hand and pulls Leilani up even though she is recovered and is capable of walking, he isn't about to let her do so. After so much time apart, he will keep her as close as possible for as long as possible. He will carry her for as long as he can get away with it. Leilani is still an independent person, so he knows he will not get away with it for long, especially now that she has her wolf back. He lifts her straight up his body and her legs automatically wrap around his waist. She stares at his handsome face as he walks forward. He holds her so tight like he never wants to let her go.
"I love you so much I actually can't believe this is happening. I'm so happy"
This whole thing is just a dream to him, he is scared that he is just going to wake up and he will still be alone. Lani will have still moved on with someone else. Connor's grip around her tightens and Lani doesn't even mind, her ribs are close to bending but that is the exact strength of hug that she needs from him right now. Lani presses her nose into the crook of his neck, taking in his scent deeply and just enjoying the feeling of being carried.
She is always so strong around others, even when she was confined to a bed or confined to a wheelchair. She tried to do as much as possible for herself, but this is the man that she can rely on. Not that she can't the others, but there is just something different about Connor and the relationship they have.
She wants to be strong for every one else in the world but completely vulnerable for the man in front of her.
Connor walks directly up to the pack house. He has butterflies in his stomach, it's somehow daunting to suddenly be a father. He has had the moment to let all of it sink in and he is ready for it, he is ready to be that family man. He had the best influence growing up. He knows what a good father looks like, so he only hopes that he can fall straight into the role.
Connor uses Leilani as his comfort to settle his nerves and only placing Leilani on her feet as he hears two sets of small footsteps running up to him when they get closer to the door.
Connor falls to his knees, his heart pounding loud and fast in his chest as the two toddlers run up to him excitedly, both with photo frames hugged tightly to their chest. Elena has zero reservations about jumping into her father's arms, but Ace is a little more cautious. Just watching the man's interaction with his sister. Waiting to see the man's reaction to Elena, and waiting to see what his father's reaction is to him.
Elena sits on her father's folded knees pressing herself against his big chest as she shows him the photo. It is the same photo as Connor found in that cabin in the woods that was under Leilani's pillow, only this time it isn't hidden away. It has an immaculate frame around it and looks well dusted and well cared for.
"Look daddy. I make sure to say goodnight to you every single night and then I give you a big kiss when I wake up every morning"
Connor is thankful that he is used to 'toddler speak' around the pack because otherwise he would have no chance of understanding anything that the excited little girl in front of him just said. It fills his heart with pride that even though he didn't know about them that they knew about him, that it is not going to be a shock for them at all and at least one of the two has embraced him straight away.
Connor's steel gray eyes meet Ace's steel gray eyes. The little boy looks even more like him than he looked on first assessment. Looking at his temperament and the standoff attitude for such a young man, he knows that Ace is already very like himself. Ace just stands there watching trying to hide the excitement in his eyes by having a serious expression on his face. But the photo frame that looks much the same as Elena's is clutched tightly to his chest. Connor smiles at his son as Elena starts talking once more.
"You are lots more handsome than the photo though, maybe not quite as handsome as my brother"
Connor chuckles and the group that surrounding the scene cover their mouths to cover their own laugh.
"You are absolutely correct. No one is more handsome than your brother"
Connor feels nearly conceited to be saying so, but he will never deny that the adorable little man standing in front of him is the picture of handsomeness.
His heart fills with so much pride looking at the two children, knowing that the stormy pack can stay within the Storm family. Just knowing how proud his parents would be, his whole family would have been to see these two. Knowing how excited this whole stormy pack is going to be to have these additions.
When he set out on this adventure he thought that the best case scenario would be coming home with his luna by his side and work hard on making an heir. But this, what is right in front of him. It is his ready-made family.
Connor looks at Ace while Ace assesses his father, finally running into the man's arms. He was so excited to see him in the morning that he didn't think about it so much, but then he decided that he should be more cautious. But seeing his mother's trust in the man, seeing how his uncles respond and seeing how his father holds Elena, Ace just wants to embrace the man that he has only known from a photo and a few stories. There is no one that can truly replace a father's role in a child's life. The uncles are so good to the two children but they never tried to replace the father's role. It is not a position for them to take.
Even though the size difference between the large man and the small children is vast, they do not shy away from him because they are used to such large men in their life.
Connor embraces the two children and Leilani rests a hand on his shoulder. He feels a sense of completeness that he has never felt before, like something was always missing and has finally fit back into place.
Astrid has tears in her eyes as she watches her two grandchildren finally embrace their father and Lani finally have the love of her life. She knows what it's like to live without that. She knows the constant heartache and she is so glad that her daughter doesn't have to do that.
Connor still reminds her of Harris in so many ways. He is an admirable man and she is excited for the future ahead.
After a lot of hugs and a lot of catching up, Connor finally gets a moment to himself. He pulls out his phone, quickly calling Harvey. "Hello?"
"Harvey, it's me. I'm bringing home our Luna and I have a surprise for you"
Harvey looks at his mate and Evie who are in front of him. Evie arrived in the early morning. She got straight in the car after she finished her phone call with Damon and came straight to the stormy pack. She wanted to be right on scene when something happened. She knew if it was bad news she would be called and if it was good news that Harvey would be called, that is just the way their relationship is, so imagine her joy when her phone stayed silent and Harvey's phone was the one that was ringing.
Harvey puts it on speaker phone and informs Connor of the fact. The excitement is rich in Connor's voice.
"I'm bringing home my Luna and the big surprise is that I'm bringing home two little future alphas"
There is screaming and cheering in the background. Harvey is ecstatic but he keeps a level enough head, unlike the two girls who have lost their minds at this point.
"Are you serious right now? You aren't playing us are you?"
"I wouldn't dare. I have two little cute twins, one boy and one girl, Ace and Elena"
"Congratulations, when are you going to be home?"
Connor hasn't even really thought that far ahead, Lani hasn't even marked him yet. He doesn't want to return to the pack so soon. Just wanting a little bit of time to get settled and get to know his mate and his two kids without the pressures of the whole pack trying to get to know them all at once.
"I haven't got that far yet, but probably a week or two"
"Of course. Just let us know"
Harvey hangs up the phone before Connor even replies. Harvey watches as his mate is already gripping Evie's arms and jumping up and down excitedly chattering about the large party they are going to throw in honour of the new arrivals. That was exactly the lines he was thinking along. All he needs is a date, but before then they will start the organising. It is the most important thing to have ever happened within the stormy pack.
Evie's crying tears of joy while she was always sounding confident. She was worried that she had ruined Connor's chances of happiness with the fating with her, now knowing that he has a family and that they will be all returning back knowing that she gets to see Leilani again. Harvey's mate once asked her if she resented Leilani for leaving that night. Evie never did. She always believed that Leilani did what she did because she was a good person and was doing what she thought was right. Evie will never forget who saved her, who gave her inspiration. Connor trained her but Leilani was always her inspiration. She never knew that someone that she only knew for a few short hours could have such a profound effect on her life. But Leilani did.
News of the new additions flows quickly through the stormy pack and a sense of excitement is in the air. The already strong stormy pack is strengthened even further by the fact that there is an heir to the stormy family, not just one but two heirs. The two coming not only from Connor himself, but also from the DNA of the amazing woman that is talked about even now within the stormy pack. Even if they don't know about her past relationship with Connor, everyone knows about the elite squad and L who rescued those girls and continues to do good work throughout the werewolf community.
In the fusion pack, light has already fallen and the celebrations are still going strong. The two children have retired to bed.
Gabriel has joined the party but has not pushed for answers of his own, knowing that Leilani is much to preoccupied to think of such things.
He feels a sense of accomplishment about her getting her wolf back. Even if it was after the rejection that she finally regained her wolf, the fact that he was able to nurture her and help her along the way fills him with a real sense of pride. It was the first thing that he has done that was purely for someone else. At first it was to get released from the cell and gain freedom, then it became his first truly selfless deed. He wanted to be there helping her. If he asked, they would have let him go, he stayed because it was the right thing to do and he feels like that is important.
