Chapter 82

Connor leans down, kissing each side of her eyes, the saltiness sitting on his lips making his heart clench. "Baby, I didn't mean to make you upset"

Leilani is so filled with emotions that she cannot even articulate what it feels like to watch the man that she is falling desperately in love with, to passionately explain every aspect of a house for the future, for not just her, for the boys that mean the world to her. To see that he has put so much thought into it, to know if she gives the go ahead then she would expect a construction crew on site as soon as possible.

Lani never really considered love to be on the cards for her, or if it was, it would come at a price; a loss of her work, a loss of her brothers and none of those are acceptable, but looking at how Connor managed to make it sound so natural, to think through every detail of bringing the group in as a package deal, her heart trembles and the last wall around her heart falls leaving it completely exposed.

Lani shakes her head.

"You didn't upset me, these are happy tears"

Connor breathes a sigh of relief as he keeps kissing away her tears as they fall. Lani pulls herself together as she cups Connor's cheek. His three-day-old stubble is scratchy on her palm but just oozes masculinity, giving his chiseled jaw line even more definition, his hair falls haphazardly over his left eye but his right eye is fixed on her with such deep intensity. His full lips are glistening with her tears, her thumb moves to wipe them clean, her touch is soft and filled with all the affection she feels for him. "All of this Connor, all of this makes me so happy, you don't even understand what it means to me"

"I do baby, I know exactly what it means, because I have been so nervous to show you. I want this to be our future, I want this to be our home. It has been so long since I have had a family and that is what I want now more than anything. I want you, I want your family, I want it all, I want to build a life with you, I want you as my mate, I want you as my luna, I want the whole lot"

"I want the whole lot too. I want everything that you are offering"

Connor's breath hitches in his throat as he picks her up, holding her close to him, his eyes boring into hers. He thinks he knows what she is alluding to but he needs that confirmation, he needs to hear the words from her beautiful lips. "What are you saying?"

Lani threads her arms around Connor's neck, her fingers playing with the short hair on the back of his head.

"I am saying yes, I want to be with you, I want to be your mate, I want that life"

A sob catches in Connor's throat as he smiles and pushes it down, spinning her around. He is ecstatic. For the first time in his life, he can see family, laughter, life and most importantly, love in his life. He saw that when he first met Leilani and then when she walked back into his life he dared to dream, but that is all that it was; hopes and ideas. Now it is tangible, it is so close he can taste it, he licks his gum trying to relieve the tingle where his canines are itching to come out and mark her as his, to seal the deal to make that bond complete.

Connor looks at the plans, trying to take his mind off it. His voice is so full of excitement that it makes Leilani giggle.

"So which one do you like better?"

Connor wants construction to start immediately. He wants to start his future. He wants to make his home and live in it this instant. Since that is not possible, he wants it to happen as soon as possible. Leilani laughs as she cups his cheeks. Pecking his lips lightly. His excitement is infectious. She was already excited enough herself, but Connor just shines with a certain vibrance.

"I want the boys and Terrance's input on that because they are what is important in that choice. To me, as long as I am with you, it will be my home"

Connor places Lani's bum down on the desk, embracing her so tightly with one that it feels like the two bodies are molding together, but he doesn't let up his grip. His other hand stroking her cheek. He just cannot believe his luck. He cannot believe that this is happening.

"I agree, bricks and mortar, plasterboard, paint colors and furniture don't make a home. It is who is in it with me and as long as you are by my side, wearing my mark, I will be the happiest man to have ever lived" Leilani looks into Connor's steel gray eyes with such sincerity.

"Thank you so much Connor. Thank you for fighting hard for us. Thank you for accepting me and everything that I bring with me. I'm not going to pretend that it is easy and, personally, I don't even know if I'm particularly worth it. But if you think I am, if you think I am worth all the headaches and all the drama, then all I know is I am so lucky"

"You are 100% worth it. Leilani, I've dreamt of this moment since I met you all those months ago, since you left me that note, since you touched my heart and my soul in ways that I could have never imagined before, you are my one and only in life and I can't wait to start this with you"

Leilani kisses Connor, wrapping her arms around his waist and holding him tight. Endless possibilities running through her head. Joy like she has never felt before. Hope like she has never dreamt of and more than that. It is love more than just love of a family, a lover, a soul mate, a true partner in life, something that fate didn't bring her, but she values it all the more.

Connor kisses her back with fever, they ravish each other, their hands exploring, mouths exploring as Connor lays her down atop the desk, her back resting gently on the crinkle-free plans. His nose running down her cheek till he whispers in her ear. "Can this be counted as christening our new home?"

"I plan on christening it at every stage"

Connor smiles nipping her earlobe.

"I am happy with that, celebrating every brick laid"

Leilani laughs as she arches her back, pressing her body into him, Connor's hot kisses run down her exposed throat, pushing his nose to move the material of the collar of his shirt that she is wearing aside, pressing a large kiss on the exposed skin. "I can't wait to put my mark right there"

Leilani moans in pleasure, her skin tingling, her body so sensitive, her fingers move to his shirt and she pulls it up over his head, running her fingers down his body as he just watches her from above, a gentle smile on his face, this moment is perfection, his dream girl sprawled on the plans of their future, it is like everything he has wanted is safely stored on top of the small surface of his desk.

"I know I can't mark you until your job is done, but just know that I have never wanted anything more"

Leilani smiles as her fingers twist in his hair, bringing his lips down to meet hers. She is glad that he still has a scrap of rational thought as she didn't think about it at all, all she wants is to be marked, to wear that mark, to be able to proudly say that Alpha Connor Storm is all hers.

"Straight after?"

Connor lifts his head, staring into her eyes, his eyes glittering with joy.

"You nearly sound as eager as I feel. Just know the split second it is done my canines will be digging into your flesh, you will be mine"

"I already am"

Leilani's brings his hand to rest over her heart, continuing, her sweet voice is soft but her words carry such meaning.

"All yours Connor"

Connor lifts his hand, placing his lips there instead, speaking into her skin.

"All mine"

Connor doesn't waste another moment as he relieves Leilani and himself of all their clothes.

In the car heading toward the stormy pack, Maggie starts writhing in her seat as the pain rips through her body. Gabriel's hands on the steering wheel tighten as the carbon fibre starts to strain in his grip.

He never used to be too bothered by Maggie's pain, but now that he knows for a fact that it is Connor being with his mate, it just feels like a kick in the teeth. There is nothing comfortable about knowing that your own mate is with someone else, even if he doesn't like her, she is meant to like him, his ego does not allow this outcome at all. The fact that someone like Connor who is getting compared to him and is overshadowing him in every way is the one that is having her is the hardest pill to swallow.

But the fact that cuts the deepest is that she is actually in love with Connor. Leilani is still his mate. Even if she hands out her body, the fact that she handed away her heart without a second thought, even knowing that Gabriel is her mate. None of this is acceptable at all.
