Holden initially seemed to have the upper hand, but he hadn’t expected Moss to be equally armed and with a more formidable weapon.

After a few exchanges, Holden was nearly spent.

Thankfully, he wasn’t alone; Adrian arrived just in time to help him subdue Moss.

Bennett, meanwhile, stayed out of the melee.

He figured Holden and Adrian could handle Moss.

Besides, it was too dark to fight properly, and the risk of friendly fire was too great.

Who would save Ariana if he got hit?

After weighing the dangers, Bennett reached the main door of the ice chamber just as Holden arrived, and together they stormed in to rescue Ariana, leaving Adrian to fight with Moss on his own.

Adrian’s marksmanship prowess didn’t match Holden’s, and in the pitch -black environment, aiming was a shot in the dark.

So, Adrian chose to Lie low and shoot from the floor.

Moss hadn’t foreseen this strategy, and his bullets soared high, not even coming close to grazing Adrian.

This miscalculation gave Adrian the chance to retaliate, and one of his shots clipped Moss’ thigh, making him howl in agony.

Realizing his blunder, Moss tried to adjust his aim, but his gun let out a futile click-his gun was out of bullets.

Adrian, still on the floor, had worried about being too slow, but this sound gave him the upper hand.

He let out a sigh of relief and even taunted Moss in the darkness before firing several more rounds.

Drawing on his intimate knowledge of the layout, Moss deftly dodged Adrian’s bullets, slipping into one of the labs where the lights blazed brightly.

Adrian didn’t chase after Moss, knowing there were more pressing matters at hand.

He put away his gun and headed back to help Holden save Ariana.

Ariana was bound by metal clasps.

Quickly, Adrian and Holden located the release mechanism hidden under the bed.

Just as Holden was carefully lifting Ariana to leave, the lights flickered on.

Suddenly, Moss appeared, desperate to snatch Ariana away from Holden.

Adrian jumped in to help Holden, but they were out of bullets; it was down to bare-knuckle fighting.

Out of the corner of his eye, Adrian saw Bennett leaning against the wall in a relaxed manner.

“Don’t just stand there.

Come and help us!” Adrian shouted in anger.

Bennett just shrugged.

“I’ve done all I can.

You don’t seriously expect me to kill my uncle, right?”

It was clear he wasn’t going to help.

Moss, driven by desperation, was becoming reckless.

In a swift move, he produced a syringe and, while Adrian and Bennett were distracted, jabbed it into Adrian’s neck.

Within seconds, Adrian’s eyes widened, and he collapsed to the floor.

Moss shot a cold glare at Holden.

When Holden and the others had been in the ice chamber, Moss had had a quick inspection of the electrical box, which had confirmed his suspicion-someone had sabotaged it.

But by whom?

Moss thought Holden might be guilty.

His narrowed gaze flicked between the others.

Bennett, his nephew, seemed unwilling to join the fight, while Adrian appeared blissfully ignorant, the mechanics of a breaker box likely far beyond him.

That left Holden, whose wife’s fate was intricately tied to the experiment’s success.
