JOSEPH MICHAELS

It had been long enough. The potion should have had time to work by now. I gave Tanya a nod, letting her know that I was ready. Picking up my phone, I dialled Chris’s number. It’s time for that i***t boy to play his part. He still sounded a little reluctant, but I was convincing. It didn’t take too long to persuade him that we were doing the right thing.

AMBER

Chris had handled that perfectly. I was sure that Joseph believed him. He told us after the call ended that Joseph had instructed him to get me to the courtroom alone. He had told Chris that he would handle everything once I was there. I took a deep breath and looked around the room at the sea of faces looking back at me, concern etched on each of them. I gave them a big, bright smile. “Showtime.” I said, trying to sound more confident than I felt. I looked at Adam. If this didn’t go to plan, then I might never see his gorgeous face again. I walked over and gave him a k**s. He held on to me and deepened the k**s. If this was possibly the last k**s we would share, then we had to make it count.

I headed down to the courtroom. I had to go alone so as not to arouse suspicion. Ruby would use magic to shield the approach of herself, Adam and Peter, shortly after. Chris was going to keep his mother busy so that she couldn’t be a factor in events. Ellie would be staying with Becky to make sure that she didn’t try to get involved. I could feel my nerves getting the better of me. What if it didn’t work? What if he had figured it out and found a way to counteract the potion? Star spoke, making me jump as I was so lost in my own thoughts and fears. “We can do this.” She said. I reached the door to the courtroom and pushed it open, stepping inside nervously.

JOSEPH MICHAELS.

I saw the door opening and tried to hide my excitement. It wouldn’t be long now. I welcomed her and told her that Chris sent his apologies, but she was actually here to meet me. She just stood there looking at me. I asked her to sit, but she refused. I was slightly taken aback by the way that she continued looking at me. There was an uncomfortable silence for a moment and then she suddenly spoke “I know what you’ve done.” She said quietly. I wasn’t sure what to say. I stumbled over my words for a moment “What, I….I….What do you mean?” I finally got out. She just stared at me “I know about the murders.” She said. I sighed “Oh well then, no use lying, I guess. So what exactly do you plan to do about it?” I said. She smiled, and there was something about that smile that caught me off guard.

I figured that I might as well get on with things. “You can come in now.” I called. The look of shock on Amber’s face when Tanya entered behind me was extremely satisfying. I concentrated on sending out my energy to subdue Amber. Something didn’t feel right. I called my wolf to explain, but I got no answer. I couldn’t feel him. What the f**k was going on???? Tanya looked at me waiting for me to tell her to start. Amber smirked at me and I felt panic beginning to rise. “Something is very wrong.” I tell Tanya. She checked him over quickly. She looked over at me. “You didn’t?” she asked sounding impressed. Amber just smiled at us both. “Didn’t what?” I demanded.

Tanya moved closer to Amber “you used the same magic on him that Mary used on you didn’t you?” she asked. Amber nodded. I looked back and forth between them. Tanya turned to me “Your wolf has been subdued. He’s been pushed so far down that you can’t reach him or access his powers.” She said. I felt the panic grow. “Will our plan still work?” I asked. She nodded. “He’s been subdued, but he’s still there. You are still a silver wolf so yes it will work.” She assured me. “Then get on with it.” I told her.

AMBER

I felt a little scared. I hadn’t expected him to still try going through with his plan, but then I hadn’t expected him to have Tanya doing his dirty work. I took a step back. There was a banging on the door as my backup tried to get in. Tanya smirked. “It might take them a while.” She said smugly. She had sealed it with magic while we had been talking. I knew this as Ruby called through the door to tell me. She said that she could break it, but it would take a few minutes. Joseph grinned “It will be over by the time they get in.” He said cockily.

Tanya began chanting, and a bright light surrounded Joseph and I. I felt queasy. There was pressure inside me. The door burst open just as she finished. The light faded, and I looked at them. Had he really just won? He looked at Ruby “You are too late, and I no longer need you. I have found a better witch to take your place.” He said smugly. He lifted his hand and flicked his wrist to send her flying. She braced for impact, but nothing happened. He looked confused. “Is her potion blocking the power from her wolf as well?” he asked Tanya. She shook her head “It shouldn’t be.” She said.

A look of pure anger took over his face. “Figure out what the f**k is going on!” he raised his voice at Tanya. “Are you sure that she drank the potion?” she asked. “Yes I put it in her coffee and I watched her drink it.” He said. Adam began laughing hard. We all looked at him. “What is so f*****g funny???” Joseph shouted. Adam just kept laughing. “He put it into your cup of coffee. Do you see?” He asked me. I looked him like he was insane. Joseph picked up a knife from the table and ran at Adam in a rage. “NOOOOO!!!!” I screamed. Joseph went flying backwards crashing into a wall. He looked shocked. Ruby started laughing now too. “I understand.” She told Adam. I was glad that she did because I f*****g didn’t.
