TANYA

I didn’t understand, how the f**k was the knife entering my force field? This wasn’t possible. I looked around the room at the confused faces. Who was doing this? I moved my gaze to Ruby. It had to be her, didn’t it? I was surprised to find that she wasn’t even looking in my direction, never mind concentrating on the knife. I looked back at the blade, it was fully inside now. “STOP!!” I yelled, but it didn’t. Instead it plunged into my stomach. The pain caused me to drop the force field. Suddenly William appeared holding the other end of the knife. He pulled it out and my b***d began to flow. s**t!! The last thing that I saw before everything began to fade was a wolf pouncing on my sister. Her screams rang in my ears. Then there was silence.

AMBER

I heard screams coming from back in the room, but I didn’t go and see who they were coming from. I was busy. Before she had vanished the Goddess had whispered in my ear that she couldn’t help Peter, but I might be able to. I now had the power of not only my own silver wolf, but Joseph’s too. I was the most powerful silver wolf that there had ever been. Even she wasn’t fully sure what I was capable of. I had run to Peter. He was barely breathing when I got there. I asked Star what to do. “Lick his wounds. It will neutralise the effects of the silver.” she replied. I paused, then I looked down at Peter and knew that I had to do whatever it took. I leant down, but Star called for me to stop. “Wait a minute, you need to shift first.” She told me. I nodded, I guess that made more sense.

BECKY

My mum was stood still crying over that bitches body. I grabbed the cloth off the table and wrapped it around her. “We need to help Adam.” I told her gently. She nodded and we turned towards him. We heard a growl behind us and span around just in time to see Joseph fly backwards. Ruby had seen him charge at us and sent him flying. He hit his head on the wall and fell in a heap to the floor. “He’s just knocked out.” She told us. William joined us at Adam’s side. I thanked him for his help and asked how he done that. He laughed “Fairy magic beats witch every time.” He said. We looked at Adam’s wounds but they had already closed up. They were nothing but angry red scars now. Ruby told us that in time they would disappear too. We were discussing how we would get Adam’s still unconscious body back upstairs where he could heal more comfortably, when a deep voice said “I will carry him.” I knew that voice. I’d been listening to it my whole life. “Dad!”.

He was stood there with Amber. He looked so much better. I just sat there open mouthed looking back and forth between them. Mum flew into his arms crying again, but this time they were tears of joy. He pulled her into a hug and told her that he was OK. He bent and lifted Adam, carrying him out of the room. Ruby told us that we needed to deal with Joseph. He wouldn’t be unconscious for long. William told her that she was all that was left of the supernatural court. She asked about Anniel and Stan. He shook his head “I found their bodies earlier. That’s why I was late arriving.” He explained. Ruby sighed. She said that Joseph should be put into the cells, until we decided what to do with him. Now that he was powerless the lock down had ended. The force keeping us there was completely gone. Ruby said that she had some calls to make and headed off on her own. William took Joseph to the cells with the help of a few members of staff. We got Adam settled and then Amber remembered Chris and his mum. We still needed to let him know what had happened and decide what to do about her.

AMBER

I knew that someone had to go to speak to Chris, but I didn’t want to leave Adam’s side. I knew that he would be OK, but I still needed to be with him. I wished that I could heal him the way I had Peter., but Star had told that it woodwork the same way as it wasn’t the silver that was causing his current state. He was immune to silver. She told me that the issue was the amount of internal bleeding that he had suffered. Kim had nicked something with the knife. She told me that the best thing that I could do for Adam was to just stay with him. My closeness would give him and Rusty strength. They would heal faster. I could do that. I reached out and held Adams hand. “Come back to me my love.” I whispered, gently kissing the back of his hand.

CHRIS

I heard the door knock and rushed to open it. My heart pounding, wondering who would be on the other side. Peter stood there smiling. “It’s over.” He told me. I invited him in. He looked at my mum tied to a chair and stopped. He looked back at me questioningly. I explained that she had kept trying to leave and get downstairs. I had stopped her the only way that I could. He nodded and filled me in on everything that had happened. My mum started crying when she heard that Joseph had lost. He no longer has any power to pass on. She had done it for nothing. Peter looked at her with disgust in his eyes. “It was already for nothing. He lied to you. He was never going to pass anything to Chris. He’s not even your great, great, great, great grandfather, his brother was.” He told her. “You almost killed my daughter, and for what?” He finished. She looked shocked and then ashamed. I couldn’t help wondering what her punishment would be.

AMBER

Ruby arrived not long after Peter left to fill Chris in. She told us that she had spoken to the highest ranking members of the communities that had lost their representatives on the supernatural court. They had sent their thanks for handling the situation and promised to have new representatives assigned at once. She also told us that she had suggested that William be promoted to a full member of the court. He had saved the day today. He had earned it. Besides, the court didn’t have a representative for the fae community. They had all agreed. William, who was back with us by this point, thanked her enthusiastically. We all told him that it was well deserved. She then turned to me. “We want you to take Joseph’s place, both in the court and the werewolf council.” She told me. I thought for a second. Not to consider the offer, but to find the best way to turn it down. “I don’t feel ready for that honour. I’m still finding my feet in this world. All I want is to live peacefully in Lakeside with my mate and our family. I’m sorry.” I told her. She smiled. “I had a feeling. In which case, I would appreciate it if you would help me choose a representative from the werewolf council to step up. Your aura reading ability would be helpful in choosing the right wolf for the job.” She said. I nodded. “I will always be happy to help both the council and the court in any way that I can. I’m just not ready to be a member.” She smiled and hugged me, telling me that she understood. I sighed in relief.
