“An indicator? What is that?”

“The name already tells you what it does. It’s a special kind of dust that lights up whenever it’s around my magic, new or old. We will test it on this diary now, and if it lights up, then it definitely will work for the second one.”

“Well, is it right here with you now?” Joana asked.

“No,” Mariana said. “I will go and get it from my house. It’s not far from here.”

“Ok.”

Mariana flew back to her house in Pixieland and within a matter of minutes, she came back with the indicator in a small jar which was kind of big for her to carry.

“Bring out the diary,” she said to Joana.

Joana brought out the diary and held it in her hand. Mariana held the jar near the indicator, and then the magic dust inside it began to glow.

“There you see,” Mariana said, showing them. “It will work just the same way on the other diary. You can have it now.”

She handed the indicator jar to Joana who then put it back in her bag along with the diary.

“But there’s a problem,” Dana said. “We don’t know exactly where the diary is, or where Marylin put it last, so the indicator might not be very helpful.”

“I am sorry,” Marina said to her. “That is all I can do for you; pixie magic develops over the years. There’s no way I will be able to locate something I made centuries ago with my old magic. The indicator is the best I can offer at this point.”

“We understand, thank you for your help.”

“You’re welcome, and thank you for what you did for Pixieland. The queen says to let me know if you will need anything.”

“Thank you. We are good, we just hope that the indicator will be of some use to us.”

“I hope so too,” Mariana said.

“We will take our leave when the sun goes down. Thank the queen for us and we wish Pixieland the very best.”

“I will. I also wish you a safe journey on your journey back home.”

“Thank you.”

Mariana then returned back to her home afterward.

“So, what are we going to do now?” Joana asked after she left.

“I don’t know,” Dana said. “But you’re going to have to decide if you want to keep reading those books or take the indicator along with you to every possible place that Marylin might have been before she died and hope it glows. That’s the only thing we can do at this point.”

Joana had been reading at the castle library for days. Unfortunately, the indicator turned out to be useless as Dana and Derick tried taking it round every place Marylin might have been that they could think of. They did this for weeks even though it was very hard, as they didn’t know of her whereabouts after she left the castle.

Joana, after noticing how things were and how far they went for her decided to tell them to leave it, she would continue studying on her own. It was evident that the second diary could not be find, and she wouldn’t let them stress over it again. She was determined to return to her home and she now had to develop a habit for studying to do it. At first, she did not like it, she hated reading; it was one of the reasons why she decided not to go to college and now it turned out that she had no other choice, she would have to do it if she ever wanted to see Andrew or grandma Jen’s face again.

So, she began the search for knowledge, and she continued reading for months along with her training. She began to grow more stronger as a vampire and now had complete control over her affinity for b***d. She learnt about physical Kombat and how to use her powers to win in battle, and day by day, she sharpened her skills. She never missed a day of training or reading, and she hardly went to sleep as during the day, she would go to the library and continue with her books and during the night, she would undergo her vampire training with Derick.

And then one day, the luck that shone on her ancestor, Marylin Lou, after all those months of searching, then shone on her.
