What Separates Me and You
Chapter 449 You Are Mine

Josephine placed the empty bowl onto the tray and looked at Lewis.

Lewis handed the tray to Mrs. Larson before standing up and said, "Get changed."

Mrs. Larson followed Lewis out and closed the door behind them.

Instantly, Josephine's face fell. She then covered her mouth and rushed to the bathroom.

Leaning over the toilet, she vomited.

The taste of the herbal concoction was incredibly bitter. It was far beyond what an ordinary person could tolerate. Whether before or after her memory loss, the intense bitterness was too much for her to bear.

Her stomach contracted relentlessly, and the bitter taste stimulated her taste buds. She leaned over the toilet and retched again.

However, she only brought up a mouthful of bile.

After throwing up, Josephine was completely drained. She slumped onto the floor. Her face was as white as a sheet.

Thinking about the fact that Avery was still in the hospital, she took a moment to compose herself. She cleared the tears from her eyes and leaned on the toilet to stand up. She then went to the closet to change into a new set of clothes.

Lewis was sitting on the sofa when she came downstairs. Josephine glanced at the screen and was surprised to see him watching Looney Tunes. Josephine's footsteps halted briefly. Then, she walked up to him.

Mrs. Larson called out to her, "Mrs. Alvarez."

Josephine was slightly stunned. She looked at Lewis on the sofa. He had his legs crossed and was casually watching the TV. He didn't even spare her a glance.

Pursing her lips, Josephine said, "Don't call me that. I'm not Mrs. Alvarez anymore."

"This..." Mrs. Larson also looked at Lewis. Soon, realization dawned on her. She stared at Josephine in shock. "Mrs. Alvarez, you ... can speak now?"

Lewis turned his head slightly and cast a sidelong glance at Josephine.

A few seconds later, he stood up and turned to Josephine. "Let's go."

Josephine hurriedly followed after him. As they stepped out of the house, Josephine found the sunlight a bit glaring.

Conrad opened the car door. "Chairman Alvarez, Mrs. Alvarez."

Josephine got into the car without a word. Lewis followed suit. Soon, the spacious room suddenly felt cramped.

She turned to look at Lewis and said, "Don't let them call me 'Mrs. Alvarez.' We've been divorced for a long time."

Lewis turned and met her gaze. He then said, "Their mouths, their choice. I can't control them."

"But..." Lewis seemed to remember something. He leaned closer to Josephine. "You've reminded me of something. When should we go and re- register our marriage certificate?"

"Lewis, didn't I make myself clear enough?" Josephine glared at him, anger pulsing in her eyes. "We will never get married again."

Lewis' deep, dark eyes bore into her, and he remained silent for a while.

After a moment, he chuckled. "Now that you can speak, you've changed."

Her appearance didn't change much. She still had the same face and gaze. However, her demeanor now exuded something different.

Of course, this must be influenced by her recalling her own identity.

After all, Josephine was confident and prideful before this. She was like a shining star in the midst of the crowd.

On the other hand, the Josephine, who had lost her memories, was like a blank canvas. The unfamiliar environment shaped her timid and humble personality.

Just like before, Josephine found it hard to communicate with Lewis.

She turned away and ignored him.

Suddenly, Lewis cupped her face and forcefully turned her head to meet his gaze. She was compelled to face Lewis again.

In a low voice, Lewis said, "Josephine, I told you I raised you. You're mine."

Josephine's eyes narrowed.

Enjoying the show, Conrad quietly raised the partition and pretended he didn't exist.

Josephine's eyes reddened upon hearing his words. "How dare you say that? If it weren't for your grandfather, I wouldn't have needed you to raise

me.

"I could have lived a much better life without you people. I wouldn't have endured years of being treated like an outsider and living humbly in someone else's shadow."

Reminiscing the past, Josephine cried uncontrollably. "You all caused me to lose everything. Why should I be grateful to any of you?" Lewis stared at her quietly, his expression unchanged.

"You're right, but those are your thoughts, not mine. I raised you, and that's a fact."

Josephine's breath hitched, and she looked at him in disbelief.

She had never once thought Lewis could be so unreasonable.

Lewis continued, "So, it doesn't matter how you think. You only need to obey my instructions."

Staring at him, Josephine was momentarily speechless.

A surge of anger or perhaps sadness overwhelmed her. Her face flushed red.

Violently, she pushed Lewis' hand away.

However, Lewis gripped her wrist before she could touch him. It was as if he had already anticipated Josephine's reaction.

It seemed like he hadn't noticed the anger and resentment in Josephine's eyes. He leaned in slowly, his voice low. "Alright, stop making a scene."

He spoke as if he was soothing a child just like before, but it sounded ironic and ridiculous to Josephine.

Just as his lips were about to touch hers, Josephine turned her head to the side and avoided him.

Yet that didn't deter Lewis. He freed one hand and held her chin before turning her face back and pressing his lips against hers.

Josephine struggled, but it was all in vain.

The more she struggled, the more intense his kiss became.

Frustrated, Josephine opened her mouth and bit him.

Lewis' body tensed, and his eyes met hers.

Josephine attempted to break free, but he pushed her down onto the seat the next second. Then, he intensified his assault.

Under his advances, Josephine began to suffocate. Her head felt light from lack of oxygen.

Gradually, her entire body softened.

Yet Lewis didn't stop there. His large hand moved skillfully under her clothes, exploring every inch of her.

It was as if he was using his actions to tell her to whom she belonged. He asserted his ownership over her.

"No..."

Josephine looked at him weakly, her voice barely audible.

He held her waist and pulled her into his embrace. His face was so close to hers that their cheeks brushed against each other.

Then, he whispered into her ear, "Who do you belong to?"

Josephine closed her eyes, trying to turn her head away from his breath.

Her chest heaved violently. She lacked the strength to even raise her hand.

Since Josephine didn't answer, his fingers continued to explore. He traced her skin with calloused fingertips, eliciting a faint shiver from her.

"Why aren't you speaking? You seemed quite vocal earlier."

Lewis whispered in her ear, then suddenly bit her earlobe.

Josephine's eyes shot open. Mist clouded her dark eyes, and she began to struggle again.

Lewis pressed her down, rendering her immobilized.
