What Separates Me and You -
Chapter 465 Yona Is Angry
Lewis stroked his watch and looked contemplative as he stared into the distance.
He asked out of nowhere, "Conrad, how long do you think she will stay in Elysium?"
His abrupt question caught Conrad off guard. He followed Lewis' line of sight and realized he was talking about Josephine.
Josephine and the rest of the staff joined the shoot as extras. Afraid that Josephine would steal the limelight from her, Yona insisted on having Josephine look the other way.
Listless, Josephine changed her position and turned her back to the camera.
She only wanted the shoot to end as soon as possible so she could return to the office. It was much too boring here.
However, it was all wishful thinking on her end. The shoot ended up lasting for seven hours though they were only filming one episode. They even had to switch to another film set midway.
Also, Lewis was watching. The team didn't dare to leave work early.
With Yona doing her best to perform, the shooting went quite smoothly. Now that they had to change scenes, Josephine had to help carry the props again as she ran along with the others.
Wendy came over and passed her the reflector. "Take this. It's lighter."
Josephine glanced at her and shook her head. "It's okay. This thing isn't that heavy."
"Are you sure? We have to walk there, you know. It's 20 minutes on foot. Are you sure you can do it?"
"Yes, I can."
Josephine was carrying lighting equipment and some smaller props. They weighed a bit but were still manageable.
Seeing Josephine's determination, Wendy didn't press on. She subconsciously looked toward where Lewis previously sat and realized he was gone.
"He finally left. I'd never been this nervous ever since I joined this place. Geez!" Wendy exclaimed.
Josephine knew who she was talking about. She turned to look as well. Indeed, the seat by the café was empty.
She didn't know when Lewis had left, but she eventually withdrew her gaze and kept up with the others, carrying the props as she did.
Wendy babbled on as she walked beside her. "The chairman is pretty gorgeous, though. I think he looked even better than those actors I always see on TV."
Wendy then gave an exaggerated sigh before continuing, "It's too bad that he has terrible taste in women."
Josephine opened her mouth to say something at that. But she realized that there wasn't anything she could really say. She simply shut her mouth and sped up her footsteps instead.
Wendy could tell that Josephine didn't seem to like to talk much. There weren't many women on the team, so Wendy wanted to become friends with Josephine the minute she joined.
The second filming location was not far. It was Jay's solo scene. Another male colleague was acting alongside him as his assistant. Yona was not needed for the next scene. When she saw Josephine and Wendy talking in a corner, she walked toward them.
"Hey, newbie! Get me a bottle of water," Yona instructed Josephine as she grabbed a nearby folding chair to sit on.
Josephine shot her a look before replying, "There's a bottle of water right there."
Indeed, there was a bottle of water to the left of Yona, just a few steps away. Yona could easily take it on her own. She simply had to stand up and walk to get it.
Yona was already in a terrible mood. Ever since Lewis' arrival on set just now, the team had very obviously changed how they treated her, and now this newbie was openly defying her?
"I don't want that bottle. Go get me a bottle of Coke."
Josephine didn't move. She looked away before she replied mildly, "Get it yourself."
Yona shot to her feet before she exclaimed, "You're Josephine Vance, right? Newbies are supposed to run errands for the cast members! What makes you think that you can defy my instructions?"
Josephine turned to face her again before she asked, "Who decided that newbies should be the ones to run errands for cast members? You're not paying me, nor are you my superior. Why should I listen to you?"
"You..." Yona began angrily.
Wendy saw that the situation was about to get messy and immediately tried to keep the peace.
"Alright, stop fighting! I'll get you that drink. Do you want a cold one or a room-temperature one?"
Yona glared at Josephine distastefully as the anger inside her boiled over. Eventually, she gritted her teeth as she spat, "No! I want her to get me the drink. I don't believe I'm not able to even get a newbie to run a simple errand for me!"
Josephine looked at her coolly before she repeated adamantly, "I'm not going."
Yona's face turned crimson from anger, and she screeched, "You're not going? Fine! That's just fine! I'll make you go today if it's the last thing I do!" After that, she turned to screech for the leader of photography. "Nicolas!"
Nicolas felt annoyed at her shrill voice. Nheless, he turned to say, "What is it?"
Yona pointed a finger at Josephine and accused, "Didn't you teach your employees simple manners? I asked her to get me a drink, but she refused!" Nicolas looked at Josephine before replying to Yona, "What drink do you want? There's a bottle of water right there."
"I want Coke. Get her buy me a Coke now!"
"Can't it wait? We're almost done with filming already."
"No!"
Yona was a stubborn woman. She didn't even want to drink the Coke anymore.
What she really wanted was to teach Josephine a lesson for defying her. She refused to believe that she wasn't able to even get a low-ranking employee like her to listen to her.
Nicolas scowled and told Josephine, "Go buy her a drink, Josephine."
He was only doing so to placate Yona. He didn't want Yona to cause a scene.
However, Josephine was not what he expected her to be. She immediately rejected his instructions.
"No, I'm not going. She can buy it herself."
Nicolas was stunned. He clearly hadn't expected her to reject even his orders.
Yona barked a cold laugh as she exclaimed, "You can see for yourself, can't you? This is the newbie you hired? How did you even get the job as leader of photography if you can't even get your employees to obey your orders?"
Nicolas' expression soured slightly at that, and he stared at Josephine with furrowed eyebrows.
However, Josephine remained expressionless and showed no sign of changing her mind.
In the end, Nicolas gave up and simply replied, "The both of you can settle this matter amongst yourselves."
He couldn't care less at this point. Josephine was indeed in the wrong in this situation. She had no reason to not get Yona a drink since it was her job. However, if he forced Josephine to go, he would be blatantly placing more importance on Yona over his own team members. Besides, he didn't like Yona, so he didn't force Josephine to go.
Yona was even more enraged at his nonchalance, and she shot Josephine a glare before seething, "Just wait!"
As long as Josephine worked here, she would find a way to make her life a living hell!
Yona huffed, then turned on her heel and left.
Wendy anxiously watched as Yona's silhouette disappeared. Then, she grabbed Josephine's arm to chide, "Why were you so stubborn just now? You just got yourself into a whole lot of trouble for no reason!"
Josephine didn't reply. She had spent so many years getting bullied by almost everyone. Now that she had regained her memory and speech, she refused to be bullied by anyone else again.
If she just let Yona order her around, not only would she be humiliating herself, she would be humiliating the entirety of the Vance family as well. Wendy sighed when she saw how resolute Josephine looked.
"Well, you're not going to have a fun time working here in the future. Yona is incredibly petty. She used to be quite a big shot, and everyone would treat her courteously. In fact, the way she acted in the past made it seem like the company couldn't run without her."
Wendy paused before continuing, "I also heard she had multiple assistants before this, but they all quit because they couldn't handle her. I have a feeling Yona will request for the company to make you her assistant."
Wendy had only joined the team a year ago. She only got the job because she used to be an intern here. However, during the time that she was here, she had watched three of Yona's assistants quit.
Wendy wasn't wrong. After Yona stormed off, she called Albert to get him to make Josephine her assistant.
