Chapter 1019
After lunch, Paul and Miranda took a stroll down the camps’s tree–lined path. Along the way, they ran into Christine, who was on her way back to the lab after lunch.
“Miranda!”
“Dr. Young.”
“I rarely see you around campus. What’s going on? Didn’t you head to the lab today?” Christine asked.
Miranda replied, “I have class in the afternoon.”
“Have you eaten?” Christine asked.
Miranda nodded. “Yes, I have.”
“With Paul?”
“Yes,” Miranda replied.
“Where?”
“The cafeteria,” Miranda said.
Paul couldn’t help but interject, “Are you keeping tabs on as?”
Christine snorted. “What kind of boyfriend are you, Paul? Miranda’s been in class all day, and you couldn’t even take her out for a nice meal? She had to settle for cafeteria food?”
He smartly stayed silent.
Miranda quickly intervened to ease the tension. “Dr. Young I heard you won an award for your research project. Congratulations.”
Christine laughed. “The news just came out this morning, How did you know?”
Miranda smiled. “I always follow your academic progress.
Christine was genuinely touched. “You’re always so thoughtful.”
Then, she pointed at Paul. “This guy doesn’t even know what project I submitted.”
Paul shrugged. “The lab respects each member’s personal development.”
The project was something she worked on independently, and she applied for the award under her own name. The lab didn’t prohibit this, which was actually pretty democratic.
“Miranda, you have class in the afternoon, and it’s about time. Paul, let’s head back to the lab together.”
He shook his head. “I’m not going with you. I’ll take her to the academic building first.”
Christine looked confused
In the end, Miranda said it wasn’t necessary, and Paul followed Christine. Before leaving, he turned to her and said, “I’ll pick you up after class.”
Okay.”
Christine nudged him. “Aren’t you a little too lovey–dovey

Paul grinned. “If you don’t like it, just close your eyes.
She laughed and then reminded him, “Just be careful on campus. Don’t be too obvious.”
Worried that Paul might not understand, she added, “It’s not good for Miranda.”
This was the second time someone had reminded him.
Paul gave a thoughtful glance. “I understand.”
“Good. Just don’t mess things up for her. She’s worked hard to get to where she is.” At that moment, there was no trace of humor on Christine’s face.
In the afternoon, Paul picked up Miranda at the campus gate after school. They went to the supermarket to buy groceries, then headed home to cook
However, they went to his place. Once inside, he pushed her onto the couch. “You watch TV while I cook.” Miranda laughed. “Why the sudden desire to cook?” She knew Paul could cook, and he was pretty good at it. “I can’t always have you in the kitchen. As your boyfriend, Ishould help out with the chores too.”
“Okay. I’ll just wait for the food then,” she said.
He grinned. “It’ll be quick.”
40 minutes later, two meat dishes, one vegetable, and a soup were ready.
Paul set the table, served the food, and called her over. “Miranda, time to eat.”
She got up and walked over to the table, where everything had been prepared–her chair was even pulled out for her to sit.
“How is it?” Paul asked as he handed her the fork.
Miranda sampled each dish and praised him, “it’s delicious
He smiled and eagerly added more food to her plate. “Eat as much as you
like ”
After dinner, Paul went to wash the dishes. Miranda followed him into the kitchen as she intended to dry the dishes, but he wouldn’t let her.
“I told you, I’ll handle this. You don’t need to help,” he said
She sighed. “Then, what am I supposed to do here? I can’t help with anything”
Paul stood firm. “You don’t have to do anything. Just stand there and relax.”
