Chapter 0533

“It’s funny in a certain way.” Sam replied.

Miranda had to admit he really knew how to twist things in his favor.

Sam’s smile faded as he suddenly turned serious, “Alright, tell me what happened? Why did you have to see him? Is there something you need from him?”

Miranda raised an eyebrow, feeling a bit surprised, “Why do you say that?”

“You dislike him so much, yet you sat down to have a meal with him. That is unless you needed something. Can you explain?”

Miranda thought for a moment before slowly speaking.

Sam listened and then asked, “So, you need his signed consent letter to finish the process?”

“Yes.”

“Couldn’t you just get someone else to sign it?”

Miranda turned and stared at him.

Sam cleared his throat, “Just kidding.”

“I thought money and approvals would be the biggest issues, but it turns out the biggest obstacle is him.”

Sam asked, “So he didn’t sign?”

“Yeah.”

Sam’s expression darkened. “Did he set any conditions?”

Miranda remained silent.

“Did he ask you to come back to him? Start over?”

She couldn’t help but wonder if he was eavesdropping from under the table.

“Ha! How shameless! Still hoping to get back together? He really doesn’t know his place.”

Miranda became silent. Were they not birds of a feather?

“What are you thinking?” Sam pressed.

Miranda stammered, “I–I wasn’t thinking anything.

“You were definitely thinking something!” Sam’s face grew stern, as if saying, “I already know–don’t even try to deny it.”

Miranda was tongue–tied.

“Fine, it couldn’t have been anything good. You’re not secretly cursing me, are you?”

Ahem–no, not quite that.”

Sam changed the subject, “You said the land is where again?”

“Easteria.”

“Good location, close to the city, and easy access to everywhere else. He gave it to you when you two broke up?”

Miranda frowned. “Why so many questions?”

“This situation isn’t easy. Hansel has the upper hand, and neither of us can force him to sign. But there’s more than one way to solve this.”

Miranda’s eyes lit up. “You have another solution?”

“Yes.”

Her eyes brightened

Sam continued, “I have land in Easternia too, I could sign the papers, and you could use it to build your lab.”

Miranda was shocked. He made it sound so simple, but this was land, not a toy!

“Forget it. I don’t have money to buy your land.”

Sam replied, “No money needed–it’s a gift.”

“That’s even worse! I can’t accept something like that without earning it.”

“How about this? Give me whatever you think is fair, just as a token?”

Miranda frowned, “Mr. Cooper, are you having trouble selling your land? Why are you so eager to give it away?”

Sam smirked, “To me, you’re not just anyone.”

Miranda fell silent. There was no way to respond to that.

Before getting out of the car, she firmly stated, “I appreciate your offer, but I can handle this myself.”

Though slightly disappointed, Sam wasn’t surprised. “Alright, then.”

If such things could easily sway her, she wouldn’t be Miranda Sutton.

Back home, Miranda sat on the couch, looking at the documents and pen she had brought back untouched. She couldn’t help but sigh deeply.

Downstairs, Paul was returning from the lab. At the corner of the street, he spotted Sam’s car.

He didn’t pay much attention at first, but Sam stopped and greeted him. “Good afternoon, Dr. Jefferson.”

Paul turned to meet Sam’s half–smiling gaze and calmly asked, “What brings you here, Mr. Cooper?”

“I was just dropping Mimi home.”
