When Love Is a Lie (Whitney and Damian) -
Chapter 27
Rachel took an hour off work and satincalt
Just as she took her first spot coffee, Rebecca sat down across from her.
"Ms. Yanes, what did you mean by what you said on the phone?" Rebecca asked.
One was the adopted granddaughter of the Howard Eamily, and the other was Whitney's stepmother. The two had practicallyno connection to each other. When Rachel called her, Rebecca was surprised, and Rachel's words left her even more bewildered. seems you're still in the dark. Mr. Spencer didn't tell you, did he? Rachel said with a smug look on her face
Rebecca couldn't stand Rachel. After all, she was just an orphan adopted by the Howard family. She was not truly one of them
The wore Rachelcarried herself rubbed Rebecca the wrong way, but her curiosity outweighed her irritation.
"Stop beating about the bush. What is it?" Rebecca asked.
Rachel put down her coffee cup, "Whimey's mother is about to wake up. Do you think you can hold onto your place as Mrs. Spencer?
"Wake up? Rebecca was shocked. "Margaret's been in a coma for 20 years. The experts can't do anything. How could she just wake up?"
"There's a new drug, specifically developed for patients who've been in comas for years. It's extremely rare and costs millions per dose. As far as I know, Whitney has already asked Mr. Spencer be cover the cost!!
Rebecca's expression immediately darkened.
A single pill that cost millions? How much was the Spencer family worth now? And that wealth was supposed to be left to her son, Matthew. How could she let milions slip away for nothing?
Rachel stood up, giving her last remark before leaving. "Mrs. Spencer, I'm not sure how much longer you can keep this title. I'm only telling you this out of sympathy for the 20 years you've devoted to the Spencer family. Don't let all your efforts go to waste for someone else With that, Rachel quickly left the café, leaving becca in a daze.
Ever since Noel had asked her if she was content with being a secretary, Whitney felt an urge to pursue her profession. But she knew that if she were to dive back into architecture, she'd need to brush up on her knowledge
All her architecture books were still at the Spencer residence, so she drove home after work
As soon as she entered the door, she heard a sorrowful cry.
In the living room, Rebecca was dragging a suitcase, crying like her heart was breaking.
Stella held her mother's arm, her eyes red with tears. She looked pleadingly at Westley, who sat on the couch with a stem expression. "Dad, do you really want Mom to leave? Don't you want her anymore?"
rk, and his brows furrowed deeply,
"I never said she had to go. She's the one insisting on leaving!" Westley's expression was dark, a
"Westley, I've been
married to you for over 30 years. I raised your eldest daughter and gave you a son and a daughter, yet you still hid things from me. You must think I'm useless now and want to get rid of me. Why should I stay here?" Hebecca sobbed, her voice laced with bitterness: "If you want to spend money on treating your ex-wife, I won't stop you. But couldn't you at least have
told me? In the end, she's still more important to you than I am. Fine, let's divorce, then Once she wakes up, you have room for her anyway. I don't want anything. I'll just take Stella and Matthew with me!!!
Westley slammed his hand on the cable, his expression livid. "Dad say anything about divorce? And even if we did, you're not taking either of the kids!
Among the three children of the Spencer family, Matthew was the only son and was expected to inherit the family business,
Alter hearing the entire conversation, Whitney finally understood what had happened
"Dad," she called out, stepping to the living room
Westley, still faming, sottened his tone when he saw her. Whitney, you're back."
Suddenly, a figuerushed toward her, aiming to slap her.
But before the slap landed, Whitney grabbed the person's wrist. "What are you doing?
ere for 20 years, and she's
Stella was furious and shouted, "This is all your fault! My mom and dad are fighting because of you and your wretched mother she's been lying there divorced from my dad. Why do we have to spend so much money on her? Why can't she just die?" Whitney raised her right hand and slapped Stella hard on the face
"How dare you -"
Stella hadn't even finished her sentence before Whitney slapped her on the other chrk.
Stella cried to retallace, but one of her wrists was still trapped in Whitey's firm grip. When she raised her other hand, Whitney showed her back, causing her to stumble and fall to
the floor
Rebecca rushed over to help Stella up while angrilyshoping, "Whitney What gives you the right to hit my daughter?"
