When They Beg, I Rise! -
Chapter 73
Lemira stood there, her figure slender and her expression serene.
"Yes!"
"Alright, alright!"
Without a second thought, Alaric yanked out Evelina's IV and scooped her up, "We're leaving, we're not staying here to get treated."
Evelina, silently wrapping her arms around Alaric's neck, couldn't help but feel a bit smug.
As Alaric approached the door, he saw the pouring rain outside and realized his umbrella was laughably small.
He glanced at Lemira's large umbrella and declared righteously, "Give me yours. You can manage with a small one."
Lemira couldn't help but laugh, "Why should I?"
"Eve's sick because of you. It's only right you give up the umbrella."
Orion, with a frosty look, stomped on the small umbrella Alaric had kicked over, crushing it.
"When she considered you brothers, you had the right to make any requests. But now that she doesn't, what do you think you are?" Orion's expression was icy.
Alaric was fuming, "Lemira, do you have to make things difficult for everyone? Getting involved with some guy and causing trouble at home?"
Lemira didn't respond, simply walked over to Alaric, her eyes clear and determined. She opened the umbrella, shielding the interior from the rain.
Alaric was stern, "If you come to your senses now, it's still not too late! That school doctor is bad news, he's up to no good!"
The next second, Lemira slapped him. The slap left Alaric stunned.
Had it not been for the pain on his face, he might have thought he was dreaming. Holding Evelina, he couldn't dodge, but he hadn't expected Lemira to actually hit him! Seeing this, Evelina quickly spoke up, "Lemmy, how could you hit Alaric? If you don't want to swap umbrellas, fine, but you can't hit-ah!"
Lemira slapped Evelina too. And then, silence fell.
Her eyes showed a hint of red, her voice indifferent, "I did it, so what? You can criticize me, but not him!"
Lemira, furious, turned to Orion, "Let's go."
Orion was surprised she'd defended him. He took the umbrella from her, and together they walked into the downpour.
It took Alaric a moment to snap out
of it and he chased after them, rain pelting down on them. Evelina, already feeling under the weather for the cold, was now even more uncomfortable. en FindNovel
She was annoyed. What was this dumbass thinking? She didn't want to get wet!
Trying to suppress her irritation, she feigned a cough, "Alaric, I feel dizzy and sick." Alaric then remembered he wasn't alone. Reluctantly, he said, "Eve, I'll take you back first." By then, Lemira and Orion were already far away.
vel?
Back in the car, Lemira noticed Orion's shoulder was wet from the rain. He must have tilted the umbrella towards her, getting himself wet in the process.
Orion started the car, "That was brave of you."
Lemira looked slightly uncomfortable, "I didn't like what they were saying about you."
"That angry?"
She paused, "You're my first friend, after all. I don't want people talking about you like that."
She didn't care what Alaric thought of her. Because she simply didn't care about him. But she couldn't stand them talking about Orion. Orion, looking ahead, smiled slightly.
Back at the apartment, Lemira's
phone was ringing off the hook, but
when she saw it was Lucian calling, she muted it instead of picking up.
Lucian, looking at the unanswered call helplessly, turned to Alaric, "She's not picking up."
"Lucian, I've always said she's gone off the rails, and you've indulged her. Today she even dared to hit me and Eve."
Lucian replied, "You've hit her before too, right? Now you're even."
"How can that be the same? I'm her brother! Besides, Eve didn't provoke her, did she?"
