Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? -
Chapter 928
Last night, his hand was on her just like this...
"Have another sip of soup..."
And so, Gilbert alternated between spoonfuls of soup and bites of dumplings, feeding Sherilyn until she was nearly full. "I'm stuffed."
"There are just two left." Gilbert glanced at the bottom of the bowl. "Finish them?"
"No, thanks." Sherilyn frowned and shook her head. "I really can't eat anymore."
"Alright then..."
Gilbert didn't push her further. He picked up the thermos, finishing off the soup and dumplings himself.
When he put the thermos down, he found Sherilyn staring at him with wide eyes.
"What's up?" he asked, puzzled.
Sherilyn furrowed her brows. "Why do you always eat my leftovers?"
It wasn't just this time.
"What's the problem?" Gilbert raised an eyebrow. "Haven't I had your germs before?"
His comment made Sherilyn recall the night before...
Her cheeks flushed even more, thankfully concealed by her makeup. But facing him was unavoidably awkward.
"Aren't you busy? Don't you need to head back downtown?"
"I do."
Gilbert nodded, tidying up the thermos.
"I'm leaving now. The catering at the set might not suit your taste. I've arranged things with the hotel kitchen; have your assistant pick up your meals when it's time."
He would have arranged a nutritionist for her if he could, but Sherilyn hadn't even fully accepted him, let alone his arrangements.
For now, this would have to do.
Gilbert stood up. "I should go."
He looked at her reluctantly. "Won't you see me off? Once I leave, it might be years."
"Huh?" Sherilyn was taken aback. Years?
Gilbert's eyes sparkled. "To me, every day without seeing you feels like an eternity."
Sherilyn paused, then laughed at his 'cheesy' words. "You can actually say something like that? Are you sure you're Gilbert? Or someone wearing his skin?"
"Check for yourself."
Gilbert seized the opportunity to grab her hand and pull it towards his face.
"Stop..."
Sherilyn tried to pull away. "Be careful of my hairpiece. The makeup artist spent hours on it!"
"That's because you doubted me..."
Suddenly, someone came in through the door.
Gilbert was still holding Sherilyn's hand as they both turned to look.
It was Karol.
he
Karol had barely stepped in when stopped, looking embarrassed. "I Mr. Harrison, I didn't know you were
here Sorry for interrupove
"Get out!"
Gilbert's voice was icy as he spat out two words.
"Oh, okay!" Karol nodded quickly and scurried out, looking frightened.
What was that about?
Sherilyn was puzzled. Karol's reaction to Gilbert wasn't like this before.
She glanced at Gilbert again. "Why so harsh?"
Women are naturally more intuitive about these things than men.
To Sherilyn, it seemed Karol's feelings for Gilbert were unrequited...
Gilbert had never given Karol the time of day, unlike how he was with Caroline.
What kind of person was Gilbert?
After knowing him for over a decade, wasn't she aware?
He was cold-hearted and emotionally distant. Not just anyone could earn a place in his heart or his eyes.
Previously Gilbert's attitude towards
Karol was at most indifferent, but his Just now was downright
hostile.
"Harsh?" Gilbert raised an eyebrow. "She interrupted us. Was I supposed to be polite?"
But what he was really thinking about was last night...
Anxiously holding Sherilyn's hand, "Stay away from that Karol in the future."
