Who Is My Husband -
Scene 56
Trey helped lift Kailee up to her feet keeping his arm around her protectively. He looked up at the others and noticed someone walking in their direction.
“Oliver, did you deliver the nectar already?” A woman with ivory skin and light blonde hair asked. The woman was tall and slender but with muscular arms.
Oliver glanced nervously up at Trey and cleared his throat. “Yeah… I gave it to her. She’s fully awakened.”
The woman turned and looked at Kailee. “So you have chosen your human form? Is this your mate? How upset was he with Oliver for having to k**s you?”
Oliver choked on his spit. “Bethany!” His wide eyes immediately darted upwards to Trey.
Kailee felt Trey’s grip tighten on her. She glanced up to see his eye color darkening as his gaze was fixated on the elf. “You put your lips… on my mate?” His tone was deadly quiet.
Bethany chuckled. “Oh, I guess he didn’t get to see the show.”
Kailee tugged on Trey lightly and gave him a small smile when he looked down at her. “The nectar couldn’t be exposed to the air. It was the only way to deliver it to me. It wasn’t a real k**s.” She watched as his eyes flickered with color. She decided to give him something else to talk about. “How are the others? Where are they?”
Trey gave one more disapproving gaze to Oliver before he addressed Kailee. “I left them to clean up the mess. They are helping out the werewolves with the demon unless he escaped again… And then there is the Jane business we have to deal with.” Trey sighed and shook his head. “We have a lot to deal with when it comes to her…”
“Oh, you mean how I plan to incinerate her body so that not even her ashes have an existence in this world?” Kailee said coldly.
Trey’s eyes flickered with humor as Bethany began laughing elbowing Oliver. “Now right there is a damn unicorn.” She took in a deep breath through her nose. “Gotta love it when the strongest one around is a woman. Makes me have this nice warm cozy feeling inside. Finally, the world is in good hands again.”
“Thanks Beth, tell us how you really feel.” Alistair rolled his eyes.
“I always do.” Bethany snorted back.
Trey leaned closer to Kailee and kissed her forehead. “Yes, Jane will have to die. But not until after we interrogate her… It turns out Jane is working with the Order. And there is someone else back at the castle who is also involved.”
“Wow… I am furious. But I am still more mad that she dared to touch you. If only my magic wasn’t suppressed, then she would have been prodded on the inside by a hot poker.” Kailee could feel her b***d boiling just thinking about the girl. How dare she put her lips on her mate. How dare she betray the kingdom of Monog. “Maybe I shouldn’t kill her… maybe I should imprison her in an eternal torture house.”
“Yeah, that settles it. She is my new favorite person.” Bethany grinned widely.
Trey turned and looked at the woman. He c****d an eyebrow at her and tilted his head to the side. “Can I ask why it is that you are here? In the forest realm?”
Bethany scoffed. “Because not all of us dragons agreed with the way Monog was taken over. After all… the forest priority was neglected. Something that never should have happened. This forest is far too important to not have been taken care of.”
“Oh, Bethany is a dragon?” Kailee asked with a new peaked interest.
“Yeah, and she has the ego to go with it.” Alistair said smugly eliciting a small growl from the woman.
“Yeah, and she has the ego to go with it.” Alistair said smugly eliciting a small growl from the woman.
“Like you should talk about egos. Freaking alpha wolves and their hierarchy.” Bethany folded her arms across her chest with a heavy eye roll.
Leeta cleared her throat quietly. “Ummm I know you just got your powers. But we really need you to put the ancients back to sleep.”
“How do I do that?” Kailee asked as she glanced up to Trey who looked a bit apprehensive.
Don’t worry Kailee. I’ll guide you. It is actually very simple. Sparks said as he flapped his flaming wings making little orange cinders fly in the air.
“Hey! I understood you.” Trey said in mild shock.
Alistair started laughing. “I heard that she marked you from the stewards. Of course, you can hear Sparks. And I’m sure she gifted you with a lot more than that. And now that her powers are completely awakened you would have gotten other gifts too.”
“For now, I am just happy I can finally hear what Sparks is saying. This would have been helpful before.” Trey chuckled.
“Okay, so where are these ancients at?” Kailee asked.
“You don’t have to go to them Kailee. You can do it right here.” Leeta said with a smile. “This is the most central area of the forest.”
“Really I don’t need to actually see them?”
“No. Just like you didn’t have to see Trey in order to put a shield around him. You could just do it.” Leeta could see that this clicked for Kailee. It helped her understand a bit better.
Okay, Kailee. If you close your eyes you will feel several enormous energies clumped near you. Let your magic flow over you and into the other energies. While keeping your mind focused on peace and rest. Your magic is different in that it knows your desires. It will act upon your will. You don’t need to do any weird incantations. Just think about what you want.
Kailee listened to Sparks and slowly closed her eyes. She felt Trey keeping his warm arm around her. Inwardly she smiled. Just having him close gave her confidence and strength. She took in a deep breath and exhaled slowly. Pulsating presences came into her mind. She could feel them almost beating against her as she sought them out. She could feel her white light surround them and hug their energies gently. Then the presence began to slowly shrink. Little by little until they were quiet.
She opened her eyes to see Sparks nodding his head in approval. Well done Kailee. I’m going to check over them. But I can sense the calmness now. The fire bird lifted off into the sky and disappeared into the trees.
“Kailee. It has been a long night for you. I am sure you are tired. But I would like for us to talk more. Maybe you can come back soon and visit?” Alistair asked nervously. “I always considered you family… and I want to get to know you better.”
“Why don’t you come and visit us? You can bring your family as well.” Trey offered with a wide grin.
Alistair looked at him in surprise before his eyes softened. “Yes, I would like that.”
“I bet you aren’t invited though Oliver because you’re a homewrecker.” Bethany chuckled and elbowed Oliver playfully.
Oliver rolled his eyes and looked over at Kailee. “Kailee, I meant what I said before. Our armies are at your disposal. If you are ever in need of us…” Olivier watched as both Kailee and Trey looked up at him.
“Thank you. I’m hoping I don’t have to ever take you up on that though.” Kailee gave him a soft smile.
Kailee looked up at Alistair. “Ummm you mentioned about who I am and I know who my mother was. But who was my father?”
“Your father was an elemental force of nature and could also shift into the creatures of the world. He was in a sense the embodiment of nature itself. Powerful, cunning and a protector of balance. He was a druid. It was because of who he was that he was tasked to make sure Bane was never awakened. Which is why he left the forest. And your mother left with him since he was her mate.” Alistair smiled at Kailee. “Together they decided to protect the world by keeping Bane sealed. They were both two of the kindest and purest souls…just like you.”
Kailee’s eyes watered. “Thank you… they never told me about themselves.” She felt Trey’s hand rub over her shoulder gently and she looked up at him.
“Let’s go back home.” He said in a soft voice. “We need to check on the others too. And we are going to need to make a trip to the castle. We need to flush out the spy as soon as we can.” Trey rubbed his forehead. “We need to deal with Fredrick too.”
“Um… if you don’t mind, I would like to call dibs on Fredrick.” Alistair said in a low almost growl. “He killed my sister. Robbed me of the relationship I should have had with my niece.”
“If you are sure he isn’t too much for you to handle and as long as Reggie doesn’t beat you to it I don’t mind. Fredrick has been a problem for all of us.” Trey didn’t care who killed him. But he wanted the man gone. He was done with dealing with him.
“He isn’t too much for me to handle. I’ll prepare to take him out immediately.” Alistair needed this. He needed to avenge his sister. And it was his way of letting out his buried frustrations.
Kailee walked out from Trey’s side and up to Alistair. She gave him a hug and then smiled up at him. “I’m glad that you are my uncle.” She could see his eyes water in response.
“Thank you, Kailee.” Alistair grinned down at her. “Be safe.”
Trey placed his hand on Kailee’s shoulder and smiled down at her. “Okay Kailee. Let’s go home.” He gently tugged her in his side and led her over to the lakeside. He took a few steps away from her before he shifted into his dragon.
Kailee reached out to touch his black scales. She ran her small hands over his leg. Even petting his beast her hand tingled from touching him. No matter what form they were in … they were mates.
“Climb up Kailee.” Trey rumbled out with his deep voice.
“Oh, I didn’t know you could talk regularly in this form.” Kailee was shocked. The wyvern could communicate with her, but it wasn’t like regular talking.
Trey chuckled. “Yes. We are able to talk normally no matter what form we are in.” He settled himself down on his stomach and watched as Kailee walked over to his side. He moved his head towards her and lifted her up to his back with his nose.
“Hang on tight. This isn’t no wyvern flying you around.” Trey chuckled as he began to flap his black wings. Gusts of wind pushed them off of the ground and into the air. Soon he was soaring above the tree line as he flew away.
