Jess’s POV

I was dark. I looked around and saw nothing but darkness. “Midnight? Are you there?” Nothing. She wasn’t or couldn’t speak to me. It feels too real for this to be a dream, and I felt Midnight’s presence, but still heard nothing from her. Then out of nowhere I heard a woman’s soft gentle voice. “Come child, and fear not. You are safe.” I looked around again, and spotted a giant silver cherry blossom tree. How the hell did I miss this? I looked around the tree and saw Midnight curled up like a puppy with her head in the lap of the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She had long silver hair that went all the way to the ground. Piercing, but yet calm and clear blue eyes. Her skin was pale like snow. She was wearing a moonstone pendant, and right on her neck was what looked like a tribal wolf head tattoo.

I didn’t know who she was, but Midnight was an overly grown puppy next to her. So I know she was no threat. She smiled gently as she spoke. “Hello my dear Jessabelle. I am so happy to finally meet you.” I was surprised. I never told her my name. I wondered if Midnight did. “No child. I was the one that created you and Midnight. I know you are confused right now, but please listen. Time is short.” “Who are you miss?” I finally asked. She smiled “I go by many names. Humans refer to me by the name Selene, but my children refer to me as-” I gasped “The Moon Goddess?!” She smiled and nodded. I dropped to my knees and bowed my head. I was so confused and yet I feel at peace. “Haha no need to bow child. I had Sasha send you to me because I needed to speak with you.”

I looked up and asked “What would the Moon Goddess want to speak to me about? I am just a warrior that just found alpha mates.” I glanced down. “No you are a very special wolf. Have you noticed your eyes? In human form they are a perfect mixture of ocean blue and forest green, but in Midnight’s form they are…” she paused. Waiting for me to finish the sentence. “Her right eye is a deep ocean blue with a white patch of fur shaped like a crescent moon around it, and her left eye is a deep forest green.” The Moon Goddess smiled at me. “Your eyes hold your true gifts. They are the key to your power.”

I tilted my head to the side. “What do you mean my true gifts, my lady? You gifted me with ‘The gift of honesty’ that is the only gift I have.” “To your knowledge yes, but you have two more gifts. Powerful gifts. They will fully awaken on your 24th birthday, but I have sensed the danger and distress in you and Midnight the last 4 years. That man has done enough damage to my children over the centuries and it will end.” “My lady who are you talking about and what does it have to do with me?” I was worried that she was expected a lot from me and that I would end up failing the Moon Goddess herself. She stood up and smiled as she walked towards me. “You know my sweet Jessabelle, you are not alone.”

She placed her soft hand on my cheek. It felt like a mother’s loving touch. A touch I have not felt in so long. “You will have 2 very special wolves that I have created specifically to train and protect you. You have your kind, caring, and life devoting triplet alpha mates, and all of the friends and family you have made in your pack. Always let love and forgiveness be your strength, never be blind sided by anger or hatred.” I felt lighter and It was like I was seeing my life flash before my eyes. “My lady, if what I needed was the triplets to face this foe. Why was I fated to Roy back in Red Moon?”

She looked down with a sigh. I had to get you to leave Red Moon as soon as I could. That man could not touch you until your wolf turned feral. If your wolf turned feral your mind and sense of judgment would be weak, and alone since feral wolves are always abandoned by the packs. Since he found you at the age of 13, when he drew your b***d, he has been watching you. It would have been so easy for him to get you if you stayed in Red Moon with how the pack was treating you.” She gently pulled me into a hug and patted my head like a mother comforting a crying child. I honestly felt like crying and clinging to her like a helpless pup clinging to their mother for love and protection.

“It breaks my heart to see my children suffer more than I would like to be normal. Life can never just be easy, you know.” I could feel her smiling in her voice. I smiled along with her and gently returned the hug. “Will you tell me what my ture gifts are then, and who is this man that is after me, my lady? ” I asked. She pulled back and nodded. “You have a little of both in both of your eyes, but that is only in your human form. When you are in Midnight’s body… the power in your right eye (Blue) allows you to move things with your mind. Rocks, water, and even living creatures. Most know this as telekinesis.”

I was stunned, but I waited for her to finish before I asked anymore questions. Your left eye (Green) has the power over the mind. You could create illusions or make people hallucinate. Now mind you these are gifts that will require a strong mind and a strong heart. Both I know you possess. It will take time to fully master your new gifts and they will not fully awaken until your 24th birthday, but since you are now with your protectors and true mates. I will weaken the seal inside you myself allowing you to start training and using your new gifts to an extent.” That is when I finally saw Midnight rise up and walk over towards me and the Moon Goddess. “But then who is the man that is after me?” I asked before we started anything else.

She took a deep breath. “All I can say right now is that his name is William. He is a hybrid. Half vampire and half wolf. After he was paired with his mate he became a dark being. Taking the gifts from other wolves just to become stronger himself.” I felt as if I was ready to puke. “Can’t you do anything about him?” She shook her head sadly. “All I can do in the physical world is create each of you children and pair you with your wolves and mates. The rest of it depends on the choices you make throughout your life. I have more power in the spirit world, that’s why you’re here now.”

I understood. It was not if we were all puppets in a puppet show for her to control everything. “Alright. I’m ready, my lady.” The Moon Goddess made a white circle appear on the dark floor. “Stand in the circle and face Midnight. You need your foreheads touching. I stood in the circle and Midnight came up to me. She placed her massive wolf head down so I could place my forehead to hers. “Now are you both ready, my children. It will feel like you’re drowning but I need you to endure it and stay together.” Midnight was the first to answer. “We are ready mother, this human counterpart you blessed me with is strong and I know together we will end this sorrow for you.” I smiled knowing how my wolf side felt that I was strong even when I felt weak. “I am ready too my lady. I know I can face anything as long as I have Midnight with me forever.” Midnight’s tail started to gently wag as if she was just given a treat.

The Moon Goddess smiled. “I knew you two would be the perfect pair I have ever made. Now lets begin…” It was quiet for a few moments then I heard someone singing. Without moving my head from Midnight I looked to the side. The Moon Goddess was singing and was so beautiful and soft that it could put you to sleep. Then I felt pain that knocked the wind out of me. I squeezed my eyes tight and pressed harder in Midnight. My eyes began to burn. Midnight started to whimper at the pain, but as long as we were in contact it felt that we were strong. I never heard of a wolf being so connected with their human counterpart. Even though we share one body just different forms. Our wolves and our human spirits are two separate beings. Some wolves share common characteristics with their human counterparts and some can be the complete opposite of each other.

Midnight and I. It is almost if we are both one mind, one body, just two different voices. I put complete trust and faith in my wolf, and I feel she did the same. It was not as painful any more so I opened my eyes. I was dumb struck. Midnight’s eyes were open as well and they were glowing. The silver cherry blossoms from the tree started to fall and swirl around Midnight and me. It was so pretty, but they flew away so quickly. I turned back to Midnight, but she was no longer there. I turned again to ask the Moon Goddess but she was also gone. I was back in complete darkness. Then I heard the Moon Goddess speak again. “You and Midnight are now completely one. Midnight and you are a strong pair. Never doubt yourself child. Your powers will only grow the more with the stronger bond you create with those around you. Remember, my dear Jessabelle. Love and forgiveness will be your strength and hatred and grudges will be your downfall.” With that she was gone and I felt the floor come out from under me and I fell. When I opened my eyes again I was in my room, but I was not alone.
