Sarah's

POV

The air outside had turned crisp and white. By the time we reached Richard's place, the snow was falling in soft, heavy flakes.

I loved that about the snow-the way it made the world feel like it was holding its breath, giving you a moment to pause, to savor.

Richard unlocked the door, and we stepped inside, brushing snow from our coats. His place felt different tonight-warm, inviting, with the glow of a low light casting soft shadows.

I felt myself relaxing as I looked around, taking in the little touches he'd added since I'd last seen it.

There were throw blankets on the couch, a few more framed photos on the shelves. It felt... homey, almost as if he'd made it ready for someone.

"You want tea or something warmer?" he asked, shrugging off his coat and giving me a half-smile.

"Tea sounds perfect," I said, letting my own coat fall onto the back of the couch as I wandered around, looking at the new photos he'd added.

There were pictures of him and his friends, one with his parents, another of him as a kid, laughing with a gap-toothed grin. I couldn't help but smile, feeling like I was glimpsing parts of him I hadn't seen before.

He came over with two steaming mugs, handing one to me, then nodding toward the couch. "You look like you could use a warm-up," he said, his tone gentle, playful.

I followed him over, sinking into the soft cushions as he sat beside me, close enough that our knees brushed.

The snow outside fell heavier now, coating the window with a frosty glaze. It made the whole room feel cozy, and I could feel the quiet between us, warm and comfortable. "So, remember that hike where we both got lost?" he asked, his eyes bright with amusement.

I grinned, nodding. "How could I forget? I think we turned around so many times we ended up back where we started."

"Hey, I knew where I was going," he said, chuckling, though his face betrayed him. "Mostly."

"Sure you did," I teased, nudging his shoulder. "If I remember right, I was the one who found the way back."

He laughed, shaking his head. "Alright, maybe you were. But it was a good adventure, don't you think?"

I paused. It had been a good adventure, one of many moments lately where I felt like I was seeing a new side of him-one that was willing to laugh at himself, let go a little.

We sipped our tea, talking about anything and everything-the silly things we'd done in the past, moments I'd almost forgotten.

Every laugh, every story made me feel lighter, and closer to him. There was an ease to it, something I hadn't felt in a long time.

It was like rediscovering someone I'd once thought I knew completely, only to find there was so much more beneath the surface.

At some point, our conversation trailed off, leaving a comfortable silence. I set my empty mug on the table and stretched out a little, letting myself relax against the couch. Richard shifted, moving a bit closer. His arm brushed mine, lingering there, and I could feel the warmth of his skin, the gentle rhythm of his breathing. "You comfortable?" he asked, his voice soft.

I looked over at him, and our eyes met. There was something in his gaze, it was soft but also mixed with something else-something deeper, almost hesitant.

"Yes," I said quietly, my heart picking up a little. I wasn't sure what was happening between us, but I felt a pull, something undeniable, drawing me closer.

He reached out, tucking a stray strand of hair behind my ear, his fingers lingering against my cheek. I felt my breath catch, his touch sending a soft warmth through me.

My eyes met his again, and suddenly, the air between us felt charged, thick with something unspoken.

"You know," he began, his voice barely above a whisper, "I've thought a lot about... how things were before. How I was before. I'm sorry, Sarah. I know I wasn't always there for you."

I reached out, covering his hand with mine. "I can see that, Richard. I can see... you're different now."

He looked at me, a softness in his gaze that made my heart flutter. "I want to be. For you."

Those words hung in the air, and before I could second-guess myself, I leaned in, my lips brushing his.

It was a gentle kiss, slow and tentative, as if we were both testing the waters. But then his hand moved to my waist, pulling me a little closer, and I felt myself melt into him, losing track of everything else. He tasted like mint and charlotte, and his touch was soft, careful, like he was afraid of breaking the moment. My fingers found their way to his hair, tangling there as the kiss deepened, growing warmer, more certain. When we finally pulled back, we were breathless and a little dazed, I felt a soft blush creep over my cheeks. His forehead rested against mine, and he gave a soft chuckle, his fingers brushing my cheek. "Sarah..." he murmured, his voice low and warm.

I looked up at him, I wasn't sure where we were headed, but in this moment, I knew I wanted to see where this would go.

"Stay," he whispered, his eyes searching mine. "Just... stay here tonight."

I felt my heart flutter at his words, and with a small nod, I leaned into him, letting the warmth of his embrace surround me.

The snow outside kept falling, quiet and soft, covering everything in a thick blanket of white. I could feel the warmth between us growing, something deep and magnetic, tugging me closer to Richard with each heartbeat. He reached out, his hand cupping my cheek, his thumb brushing gently over my skin. I closed my eyes, leaning into his touch. It felt so familiar, but also so new.

I couldn't remember the last time he'd looked at me like this-with this kind of softness, like I was someone he truly saw.

"Sarah..." he murmured, his voice barely a whisper, like he didn't want to break the spell between us.

I opened my eyes, meeting his gaze. There was a warmth in his eyes, but also a tenderness, a kind of vulnerability I hadn't seen in a long time.

This time around, he leaned in, his lips brushing mine, and I felt a thrill rush through me. The kiss was soft at first, tender and slow, like we were both testing the waters.

But then his arms wrapped around me, pulling me closer, and the kiss deepened, growing warmer, more certain.

I let my hands find their way up to his neck, fingers tangling in his hair, and he sighed softly against my lips.

His hands moved to my waist, gentle but steady, and I felt a heat rise between us that was undeniable.

"I want you." the words rolled out of my mouth before I could stop them.

He pulled back just a little, our foreheads resting together, and I could feel his breath, warm and close. "Are you sure?" he asked, his voice low and rough.

I nodded, my heart racing, and with that small nod, it felt like a wall between us had crumbled. His hands traced the curve of my back, gentle yet possessive, like he was rediscovering me.

Our clothes were gone, he was touching in ways that set my body on fire and I ached for him the more.

He kept teasing me, I couldn't take it and I chanted that he should be in me and finally he answered.

With a single stroke, he was in me, full and thick. He was patient to let me adjust to him and when I did, it was a furry of dance till we both came apart.
