Winning Back His Ex's Wife's Broken Heart -
Chapter 67
Sarah's
POV
It was crazy, wasn't it? The idea of packing up my life here in Madrid, saying goodbye to everything I'd built, and just... going with Richard. But the thought of it had remained in my mind, and now it was all I could think about.
Still, as much as I wanted to believe it could work, the thought of leaving my business, my friends, and all the memories I'd made here was hard.
I stared out my office window, the city skyline was comforting like an old friend. Leaving felt like I'd be leaving part of myself behind.
But then there was Richard.
There was the way he looked at me like he really, truly saw me. There was the honesty in his eyes when he'd asked me to go with him, to build a life together. I couldn't deny the pull I felt toward him, the desire to give us a real shot.
That's when Zoe's knock on my office door snapped me out of my thoughts. She walked in, looking casual as ever, her warm smile easing my nerves a little. "So," she said, taking a seat across from me and leaning in, "what's going on in that head of yours?"
I let out a deep sigh, running a hand through my hair. "I don't know, Zoe. Richard's asking me to go with him back to the States. It's... it's a big step." Zoe tilted her head, her eyes narrowing with that familiar curiosity. "And why are you hesitating?"
"Because this place, this business-it's everything I've worked for," I admitted, gesturing around. "It's my baby. I don't know if I'm ready to leave it."
Zoe gave a little laugh. "Sarah, come on. You've built something amazing here, and it's strong enough to keep going, with or without you here every second."
I looked at her, seeing the conviction in her eyes, and it settled something in me.
"Are you sure you'd be up for taking over things here?" I asked, my voice a bit softer than I intended.
She grinned, leaning back in her chair. "Are you kidding? I'd love to. Besides, we've already been doing this together for years. You'd just be giving me the green light to run it solo."
Her confidence was infectious, I hadn't wanted to abandon everything I'd built, but knowing Zoe was here, ready to keep things running? That made the idea of leaving feel possible. "Thank you, Zoe," I said, meaning it more than I could put into words.
She shrugged it off like it was nothing. "Of course. Just don't be surprised when I make some changes," she teased, her grin widening.
I laughed, feeling a lightness I hadn't felt in days. "As long as you don't repaint the walls pink, we're good."
We both laughed, and for the first time, now I can go back with my baby.

The days that followed were a whirlwind. I found myself going through old files, checking in with clients, and putting together a plan for Zoe to take over.
Each step made things feel more real, and as nervous as I was, there was also a growing excitement building in me. I was really doing this. We were really doing this.
Richard and I started making preparations together, and somehow, that made it feel like less of a leap and more of a bridge we were building together.
Thank God for technology, he was able to oversee the things going on in his company but then he had been away for too long.
One evening, as I packed up my office, Richard came by, leaning against the doorway with that familiar, easy smile.
"You look busy," he said, glancing around at the boxes and papers scattered everywhere.
I smiled back. "You could say that. Trying to make sure everything's in order before I go."
He walked in, his eyes scanning the room, and for a moment, I saw a hint of sadness there. He knew how much this place meant to me.
"I'm sorry." he said softly. "I know it's a lot to leave behind. You don't have to go."
I looked at him, feeling his honesty in his statement, and I nodded. "I have to. This... this feels right. And besides, it's not like I'm saying goodbye forever. I can come back whenever I need to, and I'll still be working with Zoe from afar." He smiled, reaching out to take my hand. "I'm glad. And I promise, you won't regret this."
The way he held my hand, the sincerity in his eyes-it made everything else fade. At that moment, I knew I was making the right choice.
Over the next few days, I tied up loose ends, said my goodbyes to friends and clients, and made sure Zoe was settled into her new role. And then, before I knew it, it was time to leave.
Richard and I stood outside my apartment, bags packed and ready to go. He held my hand tightly, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
"You ready?" he asked, his voice warm and steady.
I looked up at him, taking in the familiar warmth of his gaze, and I nodded. "Yes. I'm ready."
As we headed to the airport, I felt a strange mix of excitement and nostalgia. Madrid had been my home for so long, and leaving it felt like closing a chapter.
But at the same time, there was a thrill in stepping into the unknown, especially with Richard by my side.
As we boarded the jet and settled into our seats, I took one last look at the city below, the streets and buildings that had been a part of my life for so long.
But I knew in my heart that this was the start of something new, something we were building together.
Richard took my hand, and as the jet took
off, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. This was our beginning, a new adventure waiting for us.
And I couldn't wait to see where it would take us.
