"Auntie, I believe you know that the reason I quit was because of you. That's why I can't find a job in the whole industry. If I get a job in a new field, I would never be able to fulfil the one year promise." Wayne blurted out bluntly.

Sure enough!

Queenie grinned at once. She did not bother hiding the fact that she played dirty tricks as she said with a smile, "Yes, it was me. However, I only asked for the inspection team to inspect your area. I didn't expect the investigation to reach your leader, hence, I conveniently spread the news. I wanted to test your capabilities too. If you can't even endure such a minor setback, what right do you have to date my daughter?"

"Yes, that's why I chose another job that can bring me glory in a short period of time."

Wayne looked at Queenie.

It was already the end of the year, and a new competitive season was about to begin. As long as Wayne's team performed well, there would be sponsorships and endorsements waiting for them, and his salary would naturally increase.

Wayne was confident about that.

"Work? You call playing games working?"

"Yes, it's a career. Since you've given me a year's time without limiting what industry I have to be in, it's my freedom to do any job I want."

Wayne had already decided to take a job that he liked and could do well in.

"Well, let me tell you, the George family will not give you a single penny. Even if you can't afford to eat anything throughout the whole year, don't even think of getting anything out of my daughter."

Queenie had other plans. She would have offered a different job for Wayne if he and Coralie begged her for it today.

It was bad enough for her that Wayne was giving her an attitude, but the sharpness of Coralie's words made it worse!

"That won't happen. My brother won't take any money from your family. Rest assured, Madam Holland."

Coralie changed her salutation for Queenie.

"Get out of here, you villain!" Hendric said out of the blue.

A child's view of the world was the purest. As Hendric could see how unjustly Queenie was treating Wayne and Coralie, he got mad. Rushing forward, he grabbed Queenie's hand and tried to pull her out of the door.

"Hendric, be a good boy. She's going to leave right away."

Coralie hoisted Hendric in her arms immediately.

"Of course I'll leave." Queenie felt ashamed that even a child was trying to chase her out. Holding her purse, she walked to the door, and looked at Coralie and Hendric angrily, "Coralie, how dare you raise a child of the Holland family to be so uneducated?!"

Thereupon, Queenie then left angrily.

After Queenie left, Hera walked out of the kitchen and said, "Wayne, I think what that person just said is right. Why don't you consider another job? It doesn't matter if you work a little harder, as long as it's a serious job. I could help you by asking about the job as a security guard in the previous unit. Do you want to give it a shot?"

Hera's thoughts were conventional and old-fashioned. She was the reason Wayne worked in a bank previously, as he did not want her to worry.

To a certain extent, she agreed with Queenie. She also felt that Wayne was fooling around with his current job.

"Mom, give Wayne a chance! Can't you see that Wayne has finally regained his previous luster?"

Although Coralie understood Hera, the fact that she would rather let Wayne be a security guard than let him do what he liked did not sit well with Coralie.

"Coralie, if you were to marry a man who plays games for a living, I would object to it. You told me before that Josephine's husband wasn't working seriously when he played games for a living, why is it different when it comes to your own brother?"

"Mom, it's different." Coralie wanted to defend Wayne, but she found that she did not understand the difference between Wayne's job and Andrew's, so she simply said to Wayne, "You should explain it to Mom."

Wayne then gave Hera an explanation of the differences between his work and playing games. Although Hera nodded in agreement, deep down, she was still very worried.

It was Friday.

Coralie went to visit Skylar at the rehabilitation center, but she brought Hendric along with her this time around.

As Wayne had moved to Melvin's place, Carolie was afraid that taking care of Hendric would be too much for Hera to handle alone, so she asked Skylar if she could bring Hendric along with her for the visit.

"Dad!"

After entering the lobby, Hendric happily ran towards Skylar the moment he saw him.

Coralie followed closely behind and noticed that there were several new foreign doctors around Skylar.

"Skylar, these are..."

"They are specialists that I have hired from abroad. They are here to check up on me as I am ready for surgery." Skylar said to Coralie.

"Surgery?" Coralie was mildly surprised. "Didn't you say that getting physiotherapy was enough? Why do you still have to get an operation?"

"Let me explain, Mrs. Holland." Hearing Coralie's doubts, the doctor next to her answered, "Although it is possible to achieve a complete recovery in President Holland solely through physiotherapy, the time needed is too long and it's not the most effective of methods. There are advancements in technology abroad where surgery coupled with physiotherapy using certain machines would achieve a better outcome in a much shorter period of time. If he makes a full recovery, he can be up and about in no time at all."

"Yes, that's how it is."

Skylar nodded.

"Then... are there any risks for the operation?"

This was what Coralie was most concerned about. She didn't mind how long it took for Skylar to recover, because she would be by his side no matter what.

However, if there were risks in the operation...

"Of course, as with all surgeries, there will be risks, but we will do our best to minimize them."

"Is it a must?"

Coralie was really worried for Skylar.

"Don't worry, nothing's going to happen. Trust me." Skylar held Coralie's hand as he held Hendric in an embrace, "Don't worry, I'll definitely pull through for the both of you." "I believe in you, Daddy!"

Hendric didn't know what an operation was, but he decided to place full trust in his father, seeing the determination on his face.

"I believe in you too."

In fact, she knew that Skylar had made his decision, and he would never change his mind. All she could do now was to have faith in him.

"President Holland, when do you think it'll be convenient for you to have the operation?"

Seeing Coralie and Hendric agree to it, the doctor understood that the operation was a go.

Skylar thought for a moment before he grabbed Coralie's hand and said, "After the new year then. I owe my wife a new year's eve celebration and I need to make it up to her this year." He was talking about what happened four years ago.

During that time, Skylar invited Coralie to watch the fireworks with him during New Year's eve, but Skylar never showed up. Coralie waited alone in the hotel for an entire night.

"That soon?" Coralie exclaimed.

It was already December, and there was less than half a month to the new year.

"Time's running out. The earlier President Holland gets the treatment, the better. It wouldn't be a good idea to delay it."

The doctor explained.

"Then... how long will he have to spend abroad?"

For the sake of Skylar's health, she couldn't make him stay, thus she could only ask when he would return.
