Torin’s intention to check the security footage was quickly derailed by Caellan’s supposed danger .

With a servant as a witness , he felt confident they had enough to condemn Elysia without needing further evidence .

What he didn’t realize was that Rowena’s magnanimity was a carefully crafted ploy .

Her feigned grace only deepened his trust in her — and his disdain for Elysia .

The weight of his guils became unbearable , and Torin collapsed .

Femrick , who had been anxiously waiting for the stream to cut back to Elysia’s perspective , jolted at the sound .

He spun around .

Torin lay on the ground .

his abdomen sanked with blood , the crimson seeping out to stain the floor .

His eyes were shut , his body mouonless .

He looked lifeless .

“ Torin … Fenwick approached cautiously , his trembling hands hovering in the air , too afraid to touch him .

It was as if even the slightest contact would snuff out what liule life might remain in his brother , 

“ Doctor … I need a doctor .

Fenwick whispered , the reality hiring him like a thunderbolt .

He snapped out of his stupor and bolted toward the door .

But before he could make it out , his VR glasses emitted a blinding flash of light , searing his eyes with pain .

He ripped them off and tossed them aside , then stumbled forward , desperate to get help 

Meanwhile , Caellan sat slumped against a hospital wall , his expression hollow .

The truth was devastating .

Rowena had used him to distract Torin from checking the footage .

Under the guise of concern for him , she had manipulated events to protect herself , squeezing out the last drop of usefulness from him- And she hadn’t stopped there – she’d planted the idea that Elysia was to blame .

At that moment , Stellan stormed into the room , his voice laced with barely contained fury .

“ Caellan , do me a favor and get out of my lab .

This hospital is fully owned by my family .

If you’re sick , go find your precious Torin – he’s next door .

” 

Caellan looked up , his face pale and expression unreadable .

He had come here ready to confront the man who had wronged Elysia .

Now , he felt like punching himself instead .

As if to match his thoughts , he clenched his fist , prepared to strike himself , when the VR glasses on the floor flared up again .

The screen suddenly displayed a series of upward – angled views , and Stellan’s face aligned eerily with the figure on the display , 

Stellan noticed the screen too and froze , his anger momentarily subsiding as he saw his own face reflected back at him .

( Oh , thank god Elysia’s alive ! Dr.

Rookwood found her 

[ But wait , Are her legs Okay ? Something looks off .

Did she hurt herself ? ” 

[ What are you even talking about ? She jumped from the third floor ! If it weren’t for the grass below , she’d be in far worse shape .

[ Why is Stellan just standing there with that flashlight , though ? He doesn’t look like he’s here to save her …

The last comment made Caellan snap to attention .

Suspicion flared in his chest , and he glared at Stellan .

“ You’re not here to hunt my Elysia , are you ? Caellan’s voice was sharp , his eyes narrowing into slits .

Stellan didn’t answer , his Laze 

still fixed on the screen .

“ Don’t even think about it , ” Caellan growled , stepping closer .

“ If you so much as touch a hair on her head , I’ll grind you to dust .

Even if— ” He hesitated , clenching his fists tighter .

“ Even if I deserve worse than death myself .

I’ll beat you to a pulp first .
