Tang Yun was wounded, after all, and ifYeFan hadn't administered the treatment, it was likely the former would've already been unconscious.

"I am so sorry, War God. Let's talk some other time. We have to leave now."

Ye Fan could tell that Tang Yun's condition was terrible, and that worried him.

The former ran over and carried the bleeding, wounded woman. They zipped past the river and entered Fenghai with the help of the darkness offered by the night's sky.

It didn't take long before they were out of sight.

The only person left was the War God, who had to stay there on his own.

"That stupid punk, did he have to hold her so tightly? Doesn't he know that it's inappropriate for men and women to be so close?"

Ye Qingtian cussed softly as he stared in the direction that the duo had left in. Jealousy burned wildly in his heart.

"That stupid punk. All he ever does is take advantage of various situations," murmured the War God.

He shook his head and chuckled bitterly after that.

Many supreme grandmasters in the martial arts world actually idolized the current head of Chu Sect, Tang Yun.

That was understandable since she was beautiful and exuded a regal aura.

She was someone who had political power, combat prowess, beauty, and sophistication.

Hence, she was basically the personification of the type of woman that every man fantasized about.

Only someone like her could captivate the War God of China.

"I wonder how Ye Fan knew Tang Yun. Are they related? Ye Fan never mentioned anything about that, though. Maybe one of them is the disciple? That doesn't seem to be the case, either... Ah, then I guess they're probably related."

Ye Qingtian murmured endlessly. Maybe he was genuinely curious about their connection, but it was

also possible that he was trying to console himself.

On the other side in Valeview.

It was a wasteland. There was nothing but trash and ruins for as far as the eyes could see.

The steep mountain range stood there with cracks the size of sewers stretching thousands of meters on it.

The War God Castle of China and a group of Dragon Slayers were still at a stand-off at the time.

With the Ice Emperor, Su Muqiu, joiningthe fight, it was only natural that the War God Castle became more cautious.

The Sword Saint and the others remained close to one another and had their guards up. They kept their gaze locked on their enemies and were extremely alert because they were dealing with some formidable foes.

Their opponents, on the other hand, seemed at ease.

Gaius, in particular, was whistling and seemed amused as he eyed the King of Fighters and the others.

The thing that got Sword Saint curious, however, was the fact that Gaius and the others were simply eyeing them despite having a clear advantage.

Being trapped in that situation was, without a doubt, torture for Mo Gucheng.

It was as if he had his neck under the blades of a guillotine and the executioner was taking his sweet time pulling the lever.

That unpleasant situation lasted for quite some time, but eventually, Gaius broke the silence.

He stepped forward, and just as the Sword Saint and the others were about to attack, he tapped on the Ice Emperor's shoulder and said, "Let's go. The Dragon Master should be gone by now." The Ice Emperor and his comrades nodded before...

Swish! Swish!

The Dragon Slayers left and disappeared into the night instantly.

They left just as quickly as they came.

In a blink of an eye, the Supreme fighters, whose emergence had threatened the lives of Sword Saint and the others, disappeared without leaving a trace behind.

"Whew!"

"We got out of it."

The dangerous situation had diffused, so Tang Hao, who had been on edge the entire time, sighed a breath of relief.

"I thought a devastating battle was inevitable, but our enemies left just like that," said Tang Hao with a smile on.

Sword Saint, however, remained quiet. He simply frowned and stared ahead into the darkness.

After a while, he spoke in a grim tone. "Does anybody else find this entire thing to be strange?

"Our enemy clearly had the advantage, but they didn't push on. Instead, they turned around and left.

"Tonight is the best time to invade our country and wound our fighters. Yet, they left just like that. It doesn't make sense."

Tang Hao nodded and replied, "That is strange, but I bet they're just worried about Tang Yun and are in a hurry to go to protect her.

"Their mission was to rescue her, after all, and attacking us was never on their agenda."

That was what Tang Hao concluded, anyway.

"I guess. I wonder how things are with the War God, though. Did he manage to convince Tang Yun to stay?" said the Sword Saint while thinking about the matter. The conversation was still ongoing when Mo Gucheng, who was standing at the side, suddenly vomited some blood.

He swayed a little before he fell right onto the ground.

"What's wrong?"

"Are you okay?"

Tang Hao and Xiao Chen were surprised and rushed to Mo Gucheng.

Unfortunately, the King of Fighters had already fainted by then.

The battle that night had truly taken a toll on the King of Fighters.

He didn't want to embarrass himself, so he forced himself to stay awake the entire time and managed to hold on.

With the danger being a thing of the past, Mo Gucheng finally relaxed, allowing his wound and exhaustion to finally get to him. He vomited some blood and fainted right away.

Naturally, Xiao Chen and the others didn't dare to dilly dally. They hurried and took Mo Gucheng back to treat his wounds.

As for the invaders... Well, Xiao Chen and the others weren't going to care about them anymore.

They couldn't do anything about that, anyway.

Their enemy was simply too powerful and was beyond what the War God Castle could handle.

"It is as expected of the powerful Chu Sect. Even the simplest display of their power proves that our country is too weak against them."

Xiao Chen was a little discouraged when he thought about that.

Xiao Chen and his friends spent the past few years exhausting themselves in their effort to train the men in their country.

They hoped that, together, they could defend their country if the Chu Sect decided to invade China once more.

Hence, the Sword Saint was rather depressed to learn that, even after all those years of hard work and training, the difference in their strengths was still that obvious. That night, the slightest pressure from Chu Sect overwhelmed Sword Saint and his friends.

It was worth noting that the two other masters weren't even involved in the fight.

Tang Yun was the only one there for the fight, and she was weakened at the time. Despite that, the Sword Saint and his comrades were still overwhelmed.

"Compared to them, we are simply too weak..."

A sigh and a sad voice echoed into the night.

Within that sigh was his concern for his country's future.

"If only Chu Tianfan never fell...

"Back then, he crushed the Japanese army all on his own. He could've grown to be even more powerful than the War God if he had survived.

"Unfortunately, heaven was merciless and refused to bless our beloved country with a fighter like him."

The Sword Saint was deep in thoughts the entire trip.

All he wanted at that moment was to come up with a way to protect China and its unique martial arts.

The weight of that responsibility was on the Sword Saint's shoulders, and it was crushing him.

He didn't think that China could grow fast and strong enough soon, so it felt as though the country would never protect itself from the powerful Chu Sect.

In the Chu residence in Fenghai.

"Grandma, open the door. It's me, Ye Fan."

The sun had just risen, but a series of knocks on the door had already caused a ruckus in the quiet town.

Ye Fan's grandma wasn't the first one to respond to those knocks, though. Instead, Ye Fan heard the black dog's excited barks.

Ye Fan's grandma had a pet dog, and it had run over to stare through the gap between the doorand bark at Ye Fan.

"You stupid mutt, go get my grandma now and hurry! A life is hanging in the balance," urged Ye Fan.

The dog acted as though it actually understood what Ye Fan said, and turned around to run into the house.

It didn't take long before the door was opened. An elderly woman with a head of white hair was holding a walking cane behind that door.

It had been a while since they last met, but the elder of the Chu family still looked as kind and as warm as she had always been.

When she saw Ye Fan, however, she lifted her walking cane and knocked on his head.

"You idiot. Do you even know how long it's been since you last visited your great-grandma?

"Did you only think of me after so much time has passed?

"Ah, I'm so angry I'm going to kick your butt!" complained the elder, whose smile made it so that her complaints carry no weight.

"You can reprimand me later, Great-grandma. Healing and saving her is the most urgent matter at hand," replied Ye Fan. As he spoke, he held Tang Yun and rushed into the house.
