Camila and Connor made their way to the foyer to change shoes. Camila grabbed a pair of high heels to slip into.

As soon as she put them on and took a couple of steps, her legs gave way, and she quickly grabbed Connor's arm. "Ugh, my legs are so sore!" "What's up?" Connor immediately supported her.

Camila shot him an annoyed glance. "My legs feel like jelly..."

Connor, feeling a bit guilty, gently massaged her thighs. "Forget the heels."

"I didn't bring any sneakers," she replied.

"Then let's just stay in. I don't want you to fall." Connor bent down, scooping her up in his arms, and headed toward the couch.

Camila, taken by surprise, clung to his shoulders. "No way, I want to go out. I can walk."

Connor paused, looking down at her. "You sure you want to go out?"

Camila nodded.

"There's a mall downstairs; we can buy some sneakers," Connor said with a resigned sigh.

Camila's lips curled into a smile as she gave him a quick kiss on the chin.

Connor tightened his hold, his voice dropping to a playful growl. "Behave, or we might change our plans."

His gaze drifted toward the bedroom. Camila immediately shut her mouth, not daring to say another word.

Connor chuckled softly, carrying her back to the foyer and removing her high heels. "What are you doing?" Camila asked, a bit wary.

"Putting on some hotel slippers," he said, sliding the slippers onto her feet.

Camila looked down at the hotel slippers, frowning. "No way, it's weird to go out in these."

"You've got two choices: I carry you downstairs, or you wear the slippers," Connor said firmly.

"Slippers, slippers, slippers!" Camila quickly patted his arm, wriggling out of his embrace. Being carried princess-style all the way to the mall would definitely attract more stares than wearing hotel slippers.

Connor laughed helplessly and took

her hand as they walked downstairs. Once at the mall, Camila darted into the nearest store, realizing too late it was a high-end brand. Seeing the prices, she hesitated, aimlessly browsing.

"See anything you like?" Connor asked, eyeing the sneakers on display before turning to her.

"Let's try another store," Camila suggested.

"Don't see anything you like?" Connor asked gently.

"Too pricey," Camila mumbled.

Connor chuckled, patting her head teasingly. "Your boyfriend's right here, and you're worried about prices?"

Camila bit her lip, giving him a sideways glance.

Connor grinned. "If you don't pick, I will. And I'll choose the ugliest pair."

Camila frowned, looking at the shoes in front of her, then pointed at a pair. "These," she said, turning to Connor with a sweet smile. "Thanks, boyfriend." Connor smiled indulgently.

Camila tried on the new shoes and checked herself out in the mirrore realizing expensive shoes did feel more comfortable. After Connor paid, a message notification popped up on Camila's phone.

Turning back, he saw her smiling and pointing at her phone. Connor opened the message and found a digital red envelope from Camila His brows knitted in displeasure. Wasn't it natural for a boyfriend to pay for his girlfriend? Why was she being so formal?

"Why'd you send me money?"

"Just accept it," she insisted.

Connor reluctantly opened it. One dollar?

"Do you know what it means to give shoes in a relationship?" Camila asked, taking his hand and leading him out of the mall.

"Meaning?" Connor echoed.

Camila looked up at him seriously. "Giving shoes in a relationship symbolizes walking away from each other. The dollar represents us walking together, so we won't part." Connor paused, then intertwined his fingers tightly with hers. "Together, for a lifetime."
