A One Night Stand With My Boss ( Maia Sanchez ) -
Chapter 364
Cole's words brought the room to a standstill.
Grandma sighed deeply, her voice tinged with a sorrow that seemed endless. "My poor daughter," she lamented, "you never had a single good day. Now, your husband is with someone else, and even your children are siding with strangers." "They are not strangers," Craig stated firmly. "I have never forgotten Mom, and Aunt Ann's kindness is genuine. Cami is my sister; they're my family."
Claire and Camila, overhearing this, felt their hearts warm. They exchanged a glance and shared a faint smile.
Grandma pointed a trembling finger at Craig, her voice quivering with anger. "You ungrateful son! If your mother could see this from heaven, she would be heartbroken!"
"If Mom is watching from heaven," Craig replied, "she would want to see someone genuinely caring for and loving us."
Grandma's face turned pale with fury, and for a moment, she was speechless. She glared at Craig as if she wanted to tear him apart.
The room fell silent again, the tension palpable.
Cole broke the silence, his voice calm. "Dad, Mom, we've all lived most of our lives."
"I cherish our connection. You're still my in-laws, Craig's grandparents, and this bond can't be broken. I won't neglect you because I have a new family. You can count on that."
He paused, his eyes steely. "But that doesn't mean you can slander and insult my wife and daughter. They are my family, and I won't tolerate anyone hurting them, including you."
The old man was quiet for a few seconds before he sighed deeply and looked up at Cole. "Son-in-law, we won't interfere in your lives anymore. As a father, it's hard to see my son-in-law starting a new family, but I hope you can understand that." Cole nodded in acknowledgment.
At that moment, Claire, holding Camila's hand, emerged from the restroom.
The old man looked at his disheveled grandson and sighed. "Apologize to the young lady."
Craig's face tightened as he approached Camila. Although he muttered, "I'm sorry," his eyes radiated disdain and indifference.
Everyone could feel his insincerity.
The old man frowned deeply, glaring at Craig. "Apologize properly!"
Startled by his grandfather's stern
tone, Craig repeated, "I'm sorry,
shouldn't have said that to your net
voice was softer this time, though still reluctant.
Camila hadn't expected a heartfelt apology, but seeing him with leaves stuck to his shoulder, looking both embarrassed and comical, her anger eased a bit. She nodded, signaling she accepted his apology.
The old man turned to his grandson. "Go clean yourself up in the restroom."
Craig nodded and headed to the restroom. Seeing his disheveled reflection in the mirror, he clenched his fists, feeling utterly humiliated The thought of how he couldn' physically overpower Craig added to his frustration.
The old man gently patted Cole on the shoulder. "Son-in-law, sorry for the disturbance today."
Cole shook his head, indicating it was fine.
After Craig cleaned himself up, the family left. Before leaving, the old man patted Cole on the shoulder once more, a silent gesture of apology.
