Chapter 219 Is Eva Pregnant?

Kaleb's question sent a chill down Eva's spine, especially when she caught Laurel's gaze.

Her gaze was filled with disbelief and suspicion.

"It's not me! Really, it's not me! It's Isabel! That video was faked by Isabel herself! Kal, Mom, you have to believe me! Please, I'm begging you, trust me, okay?"

Tears streamed down Eva's face as she pleaded. But this time, Kaleb didn't comfort her like he usually did. Instead, he stared at her suspiciously, trying to catch even the slightest hint of a lie.

Kaleb's demeanor threw Eva into a panic.

Desperation struck, and she came up with a reckless idea.

"Fine, fine! None of you believe me. Since no one trusts me, what's the point of living anymore?"

Laurel was alarmed.

"Eva, don't do anything foolish!"

Eva smiled bitterly and rested her hand gently on her abdomen. "Poor child, you haven't even been born yet, and now you'll have to leave with me. I'm sorry, but I have no choice but to prove my innocence this way. Please forgive me."

Her words shocked everyone present and all eyes turned to her stomach.

She's pregnant?

As everyone was still processing her words, Eva suddenly lunged toward the wall.

"Kaleb! Stop her!" Laurel screamed.

But before she even finished, Kaleb had already dashed forward, stopping Eva just in time.

"Kal, let me go! You don't believe me anyway. Just let me die!" Eva sobbed hysterically as if the entire world had wronged her.

Seeing her in such a state, Kaleb's doubts began to waver.

Laurel hurried over and held onto Eva. "Eva, we never said we didn't believe you. Don't misunderstand us. We're family. No matter how big the grievance, it's not worth taking your life for it. What about the child in your belly? You're about to become a mother. Think of the baby. The child is innocent."

Eva feigned a dazed expression, then collapsed onto the floor, clutching her stomach as she sobbed. Between muffled cries, she muttered, "I'm sorry, baby. I'm selfish. I'm sorry... Since your father doesn't want you, I will raise you alone."

Eva knew Kaleb's personality well. He was an egoistic man. Saying such things in front of him was guaranteed to work.

Sure enough, Kaleb's heart filled with guilt instantly.

He had chosen Eva precisely because of her gentle, kind-hearted nature. He had always trusted his judgment.

He had to stand by the decision he made back then.

He couldn't have been wrong about her!

At that moment, Max's voice broke the tension.

"Excuse me, I came here to take Eva back to apologize to my wife, not to watch your family drama."

Kaleb turned to Max. "Mr. Max, my wife is pregnant. Can't you give her a break for the child's sake?"

Max's gaze fell on Eva's belly, and he scoffed. "How despicable. A soon-to-be mother, yet she nearly tripped my wife with her foot."

"This-"

"Save it!" Max cut Kaleb off mercilessly, pointing at Eva. "You're going to apologize to my wife right now. If you don't, I have plenty of ways to ensure your precious Johnson Group goes bankrupt!"

Max's declaration sent shivers down the spines of everyone in Kaleb's family.

"The Johnson Group may be thriving, but it doesn't stand a chance against EastRise. I could wipe you out in a month. Or faster, if I feel like it. How many would dare defy me in Solaria's elite circle?

"Let's not ever mention my good buddy, the CEO of Bennett Group. One call, and he'll immediately partner with me. Once that happens, do you think any company associated with you will stick their necks out to help?"

The more Max spoke, the more terrified Kaleb's family became.

His threats weren't empty; if Eva didn't apologize, Max could very well carry them out.

Laurel turned to Eva. "Eva, I know this is hard for you, but you have to apologize. This was your mistake, after all. Don't worry, you're pregnant, so it won't get too dangerous." Laurel's words were meant to remind Max to show some mercy.

Not that she needed to-Max had no intention of taking things that far. After all, he was a father of three now.

He'd chalk it up to building karma for his kids.

Meanwhile, Yvette wandered around the Lilac Heights villa complex.

She had been staying at Reggie's place recently.

As she strolled, she spotted Eva approaching her.

"Isabel, look! It's Eva. Is she here to stir up trouble again?" Yvette asked as she stared at Eva warily.

Isabel also glanced at Eva but didn't think she was there to cause trouble.

Just as Isabel had that thought, Eva suddenly apologized to Yvette.

"I'm sorry! I shouldn't have tripped you. I was wrong!"

What the...

Was the sun rising from the west today?

It's a surprise to see Eva apologizing to me!

Yvette was taken aback.

"Isabel, am I seeing things? Or am I still dreaming?"

Isabel reached over and pinched Yvette's face.

"Ow! Isabel, you're brutal! My face is going to bruise!" Yvette clutched her cheek, wincing in pain.

Isabel looked at Yvette's face. The past few months of pregnancy had softened her features thanks to Max's constant pampering with nutritious food. Yvette's face had noticeably rounded out.

"I'm sorry! Really, I'm so sorry!

Please forgive me!" Eva continued apologizing with one hand

protectively cradling her stomach. "For the sake of my unborn child,

please forgive me."

"You're pregnant too?" Yvette stared at Eva's stomach. As a fellow mother-to-be, Yvette didn't feel like holding a grudge anymore.

"Yes, I'm preg-" Eva began, but Isabel interrupted her with a cold laugh.

"Pregnant with air, huh? Eva, you're trying this trick again? What now? Did you pack another blood bag on you?"
