Alpha’s Black Furred Slave Mate -
Chapter 80
Kamala hated fighting with Deonna; she felt awful for that outburst. She wasn't even sure where it came from. It's not like she even wanted to hang around Bob anyways. She had no reason to speak with Bob or be around him other than the fact that her wolf was relentless. But Kamala had already gotten all the information she needed from Bob, and she wasn't looking to have more conversations with him. But Deonna seemed weirded out at the fact that Kamala spoke to Bob, to begin with.
They were staying together at the manor for crying out loud; what did Deonna expect? For Kamala to stay hidden within the manor grounds and not speak to anybody? It was almost impossible for that to happen.
She couldn't stand staying in the guest room any longer. She needed to get out and do something; plus, she was getting hungry. She hadn't really eaten that much the last few days. She figured there was no harm in going into the kitchen to finding something to eat. It's not like anyone could really say much to her considering she was under the protection of Marlon.
She reached the foyer, and she could smell the fresh food from the kitchen; the maids must have been cooking lunch. Her stomach growled the more she thought about the divine foods the kitchen maids were stirring up.
Before Kamala reached the kitchen, she paused. She thought about how Deonna had shared with her the first night she spent in the manor. She snuck into the kitchen to steal some food and she ate food from a plate that's been sitting on the counter. Little did she know that the food was drugged. That was the first night that Deonna had s*x with Marlon.
They both had some kind of lustful drug in their system that made them want to have sex with one another.
Something like that couldn't happen again, could it?
She pressed her hands against the door to push it open; at this point, she was so hungry, she didn't really care if she did end up drugged.
What's the worst that could happen?
"What do you think you're doing?" A familiar male voice said from behind her.
She froze and her face reddened as she realized who was behind her.
Bob.
He stood there with his arms folded across his chest and his right eyebrow arched upward.
"I was just..." she tried to say but her voice trailed off; she didn't have an excuse for what she was doing. It was obvious.
"Save it," Bob said, rolling his eyes. "If you're hungry, you could have just told me..."
Her face grew a deeper red as she stared around his face. She could tell he was serious, but she also wasn't sure the came he was playing with her. Why did he care if she was hungry or not? That didn't make sense.
"The maids aren't exactly thrilled with you and Deonna right now. I would stay clear from them," he said, stepping closer to her.
She took a hesitant step away from him; he paused, and his frown deepened as he stared around her nervous face.
He rolled his eyes again and leaned back; now there was a mild trace of humor lingering in his eyes.
"You spoke to my father..." Bob stated.
Now it was Kamala's turn to frown. She stared at him with confusion on her expression.
"I'm sorry?" She asked him.
She honestly didn't know what that meant.
"My father. He told you to stay clear from me. Did he not?" Bob asked a smirk upon his face.
It wasn't his father who told him to stay clear from him; it was Deonna. Did Marlon tell Bob to stay away from her? Was this something Deonna and Marlon have been discussing together?
For some reason, the thought of them discussing the state of Kamala and Bob behind their backs infuriated Kamala.
"No... but Deonna did," Kamala found herself admitting.
Bob looked as though he was about to burst out laughing.
"Seriously?" Bob asked, shaking his head in disbelief. "As if we can't decide that for ourselves."
This time Kamala did laugh; it was unexpected, but it felt good to actually laugh.
"That's exactly what I said. I told her that I was going to stay away from you not because she told me to, but because I wanted to," she chuckled.
He laughed too.
"I don't even see why it matters. We live in the same manor now. We might as well get used to each other. You'd think they'd want us to get along, instead of keeping us apart," Bob said.
He had a point; she also didn't understand why it mattered so much to Deonna and Marlon that they stayed away from one another.
"But anyway, I'll grab you some food and I'll meet you upstairs in your room with it," Bob suggested.
Kamala frowned; she wasn't so sure that was a great idea. Her stomach began making loud sounds again, which Bob noticed. He grinned at the sound of her stomach and her face reddened once again. She couldn't pass up the opportunity to get some food in her.
"Okay," she finally agreed as she walked past him and towards the stairway.
She made her way back into her room. Mateo was with Deonna in her room, so she was able to get a little break and not have to babysit for the night. She was excited to have a little time to herself and eat.
It didn't take long for Bob to join her in her room. He had two plates of food; one for her and one for him. As he handed her the food, she stared at the plate reluctantly. Now that she had the food in her hands, she wasn't so sure she was trusting it.
It looked delicious. It was a pasta dish with a leafy green salad on the side and some mixed veggies, fresh from the gardens. But she knew Deonna had been drugged a couple of times while eating the food made from the maids and she wasn't sure if she should risk such a thing. Especially considering Bob was in her room.
Bob was already eating from beside her; once he realized she wasn't eating, he started eyeing her face with a timid frown on his face. He looked confused for a moment, but then realization washed over him.
Now he just looked as if he was about to laugh once again.
He poked a piece of pasta with his fork from her plate and placed it in his mouth, grinning at her.
"It's fine," he promised. "Not drugged or poisoned."
She smiled her relief at him and began eating. They ate in silence for a long while before he spoke again.
"Did you really think I'd drug you?" Bob asked with a chuckle and a mouth full of food.
"I wasn't sure what to expect," Kamala admitted. "The food here doesn't exactly have a good reputation."
Bob laughed again.
"Yeah well, I don't need to drug a woman to get her into bed," Bob said, his grin widening. "I have my charm for that."
Kamala rolled her eye as she took another bite of her food.
"Your charm isn't that great," Kamala said, sarcasm leaking through her words.
"I got you to trust me, didn't I?" Bob asked, giving her a wink.
Her cheeks reddened at his words.
"Trust is a strong word," Kamala shot back.
"I mean, you trust me more than you did when you first arrived," Bob told her.
That was true, she had to admit. But if he was looking at it from that point of view, he hated her when she first arrived. Now it seemed as though he was enjoying her company. So, who was really trusting who? "What about you," Kamala said, a smile tugging at her own lips. "When I arrived, I disgusted you. But you seemed to have gotten over that now."
Bob rolled his eyes, but then he shrugged.
"Maybe you grew on me," he said.
Before she had the chance to say anything more, Bob shot to his feet. There was something wrong; the food he was holding fell to the ground and splattered across the rug. She shot to her feet too, startled by his sudden movements.
"It's my father..." Bob said, he paused for a moment. Marlon must have been sending him a link signal. "He's in trouble. He's stuck in the castle. He said there's some kind of shield surrounding it that's preventing them from leaving. He's worried it's because of Petra." "What?" Kamala breathed. "Do you think she's on her way here?"
Bob met her eye contact as he let her question process.
"I think we need to be prepared for anything. Get in Deonna's room. Warn her about what's happening and stay in there with her. I'm going to gather the rest of the men who hadn't gone with my father. I fear for another war." Kamala did as she was told and ran from her room to find Deonna.
