Chapter 50

Catalina's POV

Over the next few days Lilith, Jet, Gamma Lucas, and I have really been pushing my power training. My days have consisted of power practicing 3 times a day, with naps and food in between. I'm not as scared as I was in the beginning, it's also helpful when I know I can't hurt anyone with Lilith's protective circle. The Alpha summit is in 2 days and I'm getting nervous. Lilith has to leave today to go speak with the Fae and the rest of the first coven.

"I will be back in two days for the Alphas. Keep up the practice. You are getting stronger each day. I know you can do it." Lilith says as she heads to the airport. I watch her car drive off.

"Ready for training Luna?" Jet asks. He's started calling me that even though I've asked him to call me Lina.

"Please call me Lina. It's weird you calling me Luna." Jet laughs.

"Let's go." We head to the training facility. Without Lilith I don't have the protection circle. The guys stand a good distance away. I've been able to trigger Helia faster now, but I still have to focus. I close my eyes and see her. "Helia!" I call out to her. I feel the rush of heat and rage at the same time. I open my eyes to the flames. We have been timing how long I can hold on to the flames, I see Gamma Lucas start the timer. I lift off the ground. We've also been practicing me controlling the fire, to see how wide an area I can affect. But I also want to see how high I can fly. I throw my arms out and push to expand the fire ring. It's easy to a point and then it's like pushing a brick wall. I'm pushing to try and get past this point. I'm pushing hard and float up higher. I dig down for more rage and let out a scream and push past the wall. Fire goes out further than before. I don't want to look down and lose focus. I've been burning for awhile now and I can feel my energy draining fast. Losing energy, I'm also losing control over the fire.

"LINA!" I hear someone yell and I feel myself draining more and floating back down. Before I reach the ground I'm completely whipped and darkness surrounds me. Jets POV

Lina has been burning longer then she ever has. She also looks higher then before. I noticed the fire was getting out of control.

"She pushing herself too hard." I say to Lucas.

"She needs to come back down before she loses complete control." He says

"LINA!" I yell. It looks like she's heard me and is starting to come down. Then it's like someone blew out a candle and the fire was gone. I see Lina falling to the ground. I dash over and catch her right before she hits the ground. "Lina?" I look at her and she is out cold. Lucas comes up and puts a cold washcloth on her forehead.

"We should get her back. She needs to rest." He says.

"Should we take her to the clinic?" I ask on our way back to the pack house.

"No she just needs to rest. If she's not better by lunch we'll get the pack doctor." He says. We go back to the pack house and I take Lina up to her apartment. I went in, took her to her room, and laid her in her bed. She stirred a bit.

"Lina?" I say softly. She doesn't say anything but she rolls over. That's a good sign. I look down at her. I remember when I first saw her, I was drawn to her immediately. There was something about her that caught all of my attention. Whenever I saw her with Liam I wanted to take her away and protect her. Now I realize she doesn't need me to protect her, but I'm still going to. She reaches out and grabs my hand and her eyes open a bit.

"Shhh just rest Lina. I'll come back to check on you." I say softly and place her hand back next to her. I slip out of the room and close the door quietly. When I turn around I see Andrew. He looks mad, as always.

"What are you doing?" He asks pissed.

"Putting Lina in bed she-"

"What?!" He cuts me off. This guy is so annoying.

"If you let me finish. She passed out on the field." I say getting mad.

"She what?" He asked taking a step towards me.

"She pushed herself too hard today." I said taking my own step.

"What is your problem?" He asks.

"Me? You're the one getting pissed at me." I reply

"You are too familiar with my mate. I can feel your eyes on her more than they should be." He says. He's not wrong. I still feel that draw to her, even with Julie. I love Julie. She is a spit fire and strong. But Lina, something about her. I just didn't realize that anyone else noticed.

"I'm just training her and protecting her." He takes another step to me and is basically in my face.

"She doesn't need your protection." He growls at me.

"I literally just caught her from falling out of the sky. Where were you?" I say poking him in the chest.

"You watch yourself, I am the Alpha of this pack." He says. I laugh

"She is the Alpha of this pack." He pushes me back.

"You will still show respect." He says. He freaking pushed me. He is an Alpha and my mates brother, but I can't stand this guy. I let out a low growl. He narrows his eyes at me. I want to fight him so bad, but I can't do that to Jules or Lina.

"Jet we need to stop fighting." He finally says to my surprise. His face softens and he takes a step back. He walks over to the couch and sits down. He puts his head in his hands. Dang a minute ago I would have swung at him, now I want to get him a drink. I take a deep breath and walk over to him.

"Look I'm sorry. The last mate I saw Lina with was Liam and that guy was no good." I say to him. Earning me a growl.

"I'm Lina's true mate, not some imposter." He says. And he's right.

"I'm sorry. I hate the fact that I wasn't there for her and you were. I hate that you are still there for her and I'm not. I hate how you use to have a thing for her." I was a bit surprised he knew that. "Lina told me." He added.

"I didn't know she knew. But that was awhile ago, before Jules, before she was marked. Things are different now." I say

"Are they?" He looks up at me like he can read my thoughts. They have to be different now, right? She's not mine and never will be.

"Yes they are. I don't want to fight with you for Julie and Lina's sake. We need to learn to get along. We have too much going on otherwise." I say. He leans back and nods in agreement.

"I know. I don't want either one of them to be hurt over whatever this is." He stands up.

"I'll ease up. But man, you don't have to keep that close of an eye on my mate." He said as a warning. And he's right. I need to back down. I bow to show respect. I head to the door to leave. "And Jet." He calls out. I turn around.

"Thanks for looking out for her." He says. That had to take some humility from him. I bow again.

Catalina's POV

I heard all of Jet and Andrew's conversation. I couldn't get up or call out because I was too tired. So I just laid there and listened. I swear I thought they were going to fight. I'm glad they didn't. I need both of them. Jet has really grown into someone I trust with my life, and he has been there everyday. And Andrew is the love of my life, my mate, the man who brought me out of a hole and taught me how to love again. I needed them both. I have noticed Jet's watchful eyes, and I've notice Julies distance from me. I just don't know what I can do. In just a few days I'm going to be thrown to the wolves to say the least. I need all the support I can get. Thinking everything over I must have fallen asleep, the next thing I remember is Andrew waking me up for dinner. "Hey baby. How are you feeling?" He asks. I sit up and smile.

"I feel tired to be honest. And hungry." My stomach grumbles. He smiles at me.

"Good I brought you some dinner. You have been pushing yourself for days. Maybe you should take the rest of today off." He steps out of the room and comes back with a tray of food for us both. He places the tray in my lap. We talk about his progress with the Alphas while we eat. After we are done, we spend the rest of the night cuddled up on the couch watching movies. I've missed snuggling with my mate.
