Alpha’s Hybrid Cinderella
Chapter 118

Mateo

My mate, I never caught her name, pulls up to a beach side house that is freaking huge. It's almost as big as the pack house in the Verona Pack.

She gets out of her car and starts to grab groceries and a woman comes down the stairs and says, "Aurora, you know you should ask for help when you have bags."

She laughs and says, "I'm fine, truly, just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean I can't bring inside some groceries."

The woman tsks at her as she grabs the bags from her arms. She says, "You know that Aamon wouldn't approve."

My mate, Aurora, rolls her eyes and says, "I'm not a piece of glass. I assure you that I'm okay. Also, I plan to cook tonight."

The woman freezes and asks hesitantly, "Are you sure that's the best idea?"

Aurora crosses her arms and bites her lower lip and asks, "Am I really that bad of a cook?"

She could make the worst food on earth, she could feed me literal dirt and I would still eat it and thank her for it. She is a goddess, and it makes me angry to see how bothered she is by the woman's comment.

The woman doesn't answer, but Aurora lets out a breath and says, "Fine, you cook. I bought stuff for Aamon's favorite meal. While you do that, I'm going to let my wolf out and go for a run." The lady nods, "As you wish, Miss."

The woman disappears inside with the groceries and Aurora walks off towards the beach. I follow slowly, I don't want her to hear me or see me. But I must see what her wolf looks like before I leave. There's more than what meets the eye here, I'm sure of it.

I try not to watch as she undresses, but it's hard to fight my wolf's instincts. He desperately wants to her body in all its glory, and he wants to mark her. I force him to turn his head, so she has privacy.

The familiar cracking sound of her bones rearranging fills the air and I turn to see her gray wolf. The wolf is small, and it surprises me how tiny she is, but she's still beautiful. She trots along the shore and jumps into the tide a couple of times. It's cute, it's like she's a pup.

I know I need to go before I push my luck to much, but it's hard to pull myself away from the one that I know I'm supposed to be with.

I shake my head as I turn around and head back to my pack. I'm sure Alpha Lorenzo won't be pleased with me since I skipped training today.

I was right, Alpha Lorenzo commanded for me to come see him as soon as I walked into the border.

I run up to the pack house and shift into my human form and grab a pair of shorts that we had behind a bush by the pack house door. When I walk inside, I hear Lorenzo as he asks, "Mateo, where have you been?"

I chuckle, "Sorry, Alpha, I uh... I found my mate."

His head whips towards me and he c***s his head to the side as he asks, "Really?"

I nod my head with a smile on my face as I think of my beautiful mate again. Yet somehow, she belongs to someone else. It still doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.

Then he says, "We're in private, you can call me by my name, Mateo."

I smile, Lorenzo and I have been friends my whole life. I'm honored to be his Beta and I'm grateful for the relationship we have. He says, "That makes sense why you weren't here for training. So, w here is your mate?"

I press my lips together, I hope he won't think I'm crazy. I say, "That's the thing... It's complicated."

His eyebrows furrow and he asks, "What do you mean by that?"

I huff, "She claims that she already has a mate. And... she's pregnant."

Lorenzo's eyes look like they could bulge out of his head. I hear his mate and my Luna, Sofia as she walks into the room, "Hey Lo, what's going," her voice falters as she sees his expression, "on?"

He looks at her and then back at me and nods toward her as he says, "Tell her."

I force a smile as I say, "I have some news. I found my mate."

She claps and says, "Oh that's fantastic, Mateo, but wait, why the long faces?"

"She is mated to someone else and is pregnant."

Her jaw drops and she shakes her head, "Wait, how is that possible? She picked a chosen mate?"

I shrug, "I guess. I don't know really. I don't know how to explain it, but something seems really off about the whole thing. I just... I don't think that she knows that he isn't her true mate."

Sofia nods, but has a small pout as she processes the information. She asks, "Where did you meet her? What's her name?"

"At the market and her name is Aurora."

Her eyes light up for a moment and I ask, "What is it?"

Her eyes flicker to Lorenzo and he nods slowly and she smiles, "Well, we have a little secret we've been keeping. We are actually pregnant, but since we're a small pack and don't have an official pack doctor yet, I've actually been going to a human doctor. I saw Aurora. She goes to the same doctor that I do. Maybe... maybe I can start getting a feel for her and see if something is off."

I smile, "That would be great and congratulations to both of you."

Lorenzo wraps his arm around his mate and looks at her lovingly as he says, "Yeah, we're thrilled about this."

They get lost in one another's eyes and I know this is the time I should leave. I've been around the two of them long enough to know when they're ready to rip off each other's clothes.

Soon enough, I'll be able to be wrapped up with my own mate. I just need to figure out what's going on.

Don't worry, Aurora, we'll get this all figured out.

Aurora

Aamon gets home and was thrilled to have his favorite dinner and to see the ultrasound pictures of our baby. I tried hard to stay focused on him and to enjoy this night with my mate, but it was hard to. In the back of my mind all I could think about was the man I met earlier, Mateo.

Every time Aamon touches me I can't help but wonder why I don't feel tingles with him, why don't I get butterflies when he says something sweet to me, why don't I crave his attention and affection? Something is off, even my wolf, Jasmine, doesn't seem to care about Aamon. But the thought of Mateo makes her giddy with excitement.

I can't help but wonder when I'll get to see him again, but then again, I know it will only cause trouble.

But the trouble seems worth it to feel those tingles again...
