Chapter 119

Mateo

Thankfully, Lorenzo was very understanding about my need to see Aurora.

I went back to the market every day in hopes of seeing her and Sofia kept me updated throughout her pregnancy.

The two of them must have similar due dates because every single appointment that Sofia has Aurora is also there.

Aurora has gotten bigger and it's now obvious that she's pregnant. But she is glowing and absolutely beautiful, I just wish it was my child inside of her.

I watch her from afar, I try not to approach her too much because I don't want her to think I'm stalking her, but I need to look out for her safety.

It's been four months since I met her, but something about her today is different. I watch as she tries to pick produce, but she keeps swaying like she's lightheaded. She stumbles once and I rush over to her side and help steady her. I say, "Whoa, are you okay?" She looks dazed as her eyes roam over me. She says, "It's Mateo, right?"

I nod my head and ask, "What's your name?"

Her voice slurs as she says, "Aurora May Bell or well... I guess it's Aurora May Walker... I'm not sure. Am I supposed to take my mate's name?"

If she is then she would be Aurora May Rossi, but I'm not going to say that at this time. Although Aurora Rossi does have a nice ring to it.

I chuckle, "Let me help you get outside. Maybe some fresh air will help you feel better."

I lead her outside, but out of nowhere she stumbles, and I catch her, but her head lulls to the side and I realize she's unconscious.

I press my lips together and I need to get her out of here. I pick her up and bring her to my car. She's still unconscious and I pray to the moon goddess that she won't be too upset with me.

But something is off and there is no better or safer place for her to be than with me at the Verona Pack.

By the time we get to the pack she's still unconscious and I have to bring her inside. She's still breathing so that's a good thing, but I don't know why she would be out for this long.

Lorenzo and Sofia are inside and Lorenzo stands as he sees me walk in and asks, "What the heck is going on, Mateo?"

Sofia's eyes are wide and she asks, "Is she okay?"

"I think so? I don't really know. She passed out in the store and this was the only thing I could think to do."

Sofia sighs and says, "Let's take her to the guest room and I'll stay with her. At least then she won't think you kidnapped her."

I let out a soft chuckle as I carry Aurora up to the guest room. Sofia sighs, "Go, and talk with Lorenzo about what we should do next. And remind him to look up like I told him to, he'll know what I'm talking about."

I nod as I rush downstairs. I hope everything will be okay. My stomach is in knots at the thought of what Aurora might think of all this.

When I get downstairs I say, "Hey, Sofia wants us to figure out what to do and she wanted me to remind you to look it up?"

He groans and runs a hand over his face as he says, "I really think this is going to be a waste of time."

"What is she talking about?"

He huffs, "Anytime a pack member goes missing packs will typically send out a warning or some kind of reward if you can find the member. She says that Aurora lives outside of a pack, with an older man, and doesn't seem to have any family that it's possible she's one of those missing people. I just think it's a waste of time. It will take us hours to go through all of the ones we've received just this past year!"

I press my lips together and say, "It might take forever, but honestly, I think it would be worth it. Sofia is smart, Lo."

He rolls his eyes and says, "You get started on that. I need to think of how we're going to handle this."

Aurora

My head is spinning whenever I wake up. I blink rapidly and stare up at the ceiling and realize, I don't know where I am.

I sit up and immediately regret it as I feel the throw up come up my throat and suddenly there's a small trash can shoved in my face as I puke my guts out.

Hands run through my hair pulling it away from my face. But whoever this is is much gentler than Aamon so I know it isn't him.

When I'm done, I look up to see a woman that I vaguely recognize. I've seen her a handful of times at doctor's appointments. Why am I with her?

She smiles in a motherly way at me as she says, "I'm Sofia, I noticed you weren't feeling well after your appointment today. On the way to my car you passed out so my mate helped me bring you to our pack house so we could help care for you." I nod slowly as I process the information and I say in a questioning tone, "You're a werewolf."

She smiles and nods proudly, "I'm the Luna of the Verona Pack actually."

I nod my head and say, "As much as I appreciate your hospitality, Luna Sofia, I really should head back to my home."

"And where is that exactly, Aurora?"

I question, "You know my name?"

She nods, "I've heard them call you at the doctor's office."

I nod slowly and say, "Really, if you could just bring me back to the doctor's office that would be good enough. My car is near there and I can head home on my own."

She says, "I know you must be scared, Aurora. But to be honest, I'm concerned about you."

I look at her skeptically and respond, "You don't even know me."

She sighs, "Call it a Luna's intuition then... but I'm worried about your safety."

The door creaks as it opens and a man stands in the doorway as he says, "I am too."

I don't know who this man is, I'm not sure I want to know.

Fear creeps into my chest as I wonder why they have kidnapped me.
