Abigail

I'm grateful that I was the one with the boys when the rogues attacked.

Laila and Lauren had just gone inside with the nannies for their nap time, but the boys and I were having fun together searching for bugs in the forest. Plus, their Uncle Ken should have been joining us soon and neither of the boys could rest knowing that Ken would be coming soon.

So, we continued our hunt for worms, rollie pollies, caterpillars, and whatever else we could find. We were getting pretty deep in the forest when I noticed some of the pack members that should have been on patrol duty weren't there.

My stomach churned and I said, "Hey Ozzy and P, let's head back to the pack house."

Peelle whines, "Oh, Aunt Abby, can't we stay out just a little bit longer?"

"No, Peelle, let's go, now." I say a little harsher as I feel like we're being followed.

Neither of the boys argue, but they sure took their sweet time as we headed back to the pack house. I stayed alert; I knew danger could be around any corner. The only reassurance I had is the fact that I haven't received a mind link about any danger. Then again, what if I haven't gotten a mind link because they're too busy to send one out?

I hear the sound of a branch cracking and I say, "Hurry up, boys."

Both of them know by my stern tone that I meant business and they both quicken their pace. I hear Osborn's sharp breath and my eyes widen as I see the sight before us. Two rogues, one dead body in front of them. One of the rogues licks its mouth and slobber and blood drips down its face, splashing on to the forest floor.

I push the boys behind me and let out a growl as I demand, "Don't come any closer!"

I don't know if I should command for the boys to run or if it's better to keep them in my sight right now. All I know is that I must keep them safe.

The other rogue shifts and smirks at me and tilts his head to look past me toward the boys. He says, "Well, well, well, if it isn't the Alpha's boys?"

My breath catches, he's a rogue. How would he know?

Unless... unless this was planned!

I gasp as something sharp stabs into my neck, and I yell out, "Boys run!"

Peelle seems shocked and stumbles as he tries to move, but Osborn jumps into action. He pushes Peelle, forcing him to snap out of his daze as they take off running as fast as their little legs can carry them.

Someone walks past me, and I watch as he advances toward the boy's direction. I try to scream out to the boys, but I can't. It's like I'm frozen. What's happening to me?

What did they inject me with?

I try to shift; I must keep them safe. Why can't I move?

The rogue that had shifted walks over to me and smirks as I fall to my knees and then stumble onto my side and he says, "What a pity it is for such a young woman to lose her wolf."

Lose my wolf? What is he talking about?

Something else stabs into my leg causing me to cry out. The man shrugs, "Sorry, but I have to do what needs to be done."

I force myself to speak, and I sputter, "Who-who-who are you?"

He smirks, "You'll find out soon enough. Sweet dreams, Abigail."

How did he know my name?

I try to move to go after him, but my body doesn't even twitch. Black spots fill my vision until I can't see anything anymore. Claudia

When we get back to the pack the rogues were long gone.

I run into our pack house to see Ken and Abigail on the couch as the pack doctor takes her blood. Raf is sitting in the recliner crying her eyes out as Leon stands behind her and rubs her back. Beta Collins stands when he sees us walk into the pack house and nods, "Alpha, Luna." Evan doesn't beat around the bush as he asks, "What happened? How many casualties? And what about the children? Where are my sons?"

Beta Collins doesn't get an opportunity to answer. I can hear Raf's panicked thoughts as she thinks, "It's my fault. I should've been home. It's all my fault. If I wasn't at the doctor's appointment for the baby..."

I didn't even know that she was pregnant again, but I can't focus on it. I need to know what's going on. Abigail is the first to speak, "They took the boys."

My whole world stopped and Evan's head snaps toward her and Beta Collins says, "You don't know that, Abigail."

She breathes out and shakes her head, "I'm tired of arguing with you. I know that they took them. The boys were with me. Rogues came after us. They knew who the boys were, and they knocked me out. I saw them going after them. It's been hours since that happened, and we still haven't found them!"

Her eyes meet mine and she says in a low voice almost like she's ashamed, "I'm sorry Evan and Claudia, I did everything I could."

Evan looks toward me, but I'm focused on Abigail and the doctor that's taking her blood. She doesn't look like she has any injuries. What's going on?

I ask, "What's going on with you?"

Ken answers for her, "The rogue spoke with her. He mentioned what a pity it is for such a young woman to lose her wolf. She hasn't been able to shift since they injected her like 5 hours ago."

Evan's body is tense and he asks, "Have you figured anything out, doc?"

He shakes his head, "Not yet, Alpha."

Evan presses his lips together and nods before looking back at me. He's waiting for me to explode. I ask, "How many casualties? How long have they been gone for?"

Beta Collins answers, "We lost about 20 men, Luna. All the rogues seemed to disappear after they got the boys..."

Evan asks, "Did anyone follow?"

Leon answers, "Several tried, Evan, but it's like they literally disappeared. No scent, no tracks, they just... vanished."

I clench my eyes shut and I say, "Contact Lucas Hanson and my family. Someone must know something on how this is possible."

Leon jumps up, "On it, Claudia."

I put my hand on Raf's shoulder and she looks up at me through teary eyes and I say, "It's not your fault. Stop worrying about it. Are your girls safe?"

She breathes out a shuddery breath as she nods, "Yeah, they were in their beds when the attack happened."

I nod in understanding, and I lean down and hug her. I whisper in her ear, "Breath and try not to stress, it's not good for the baby."

Her eyes widen, and I shrug as I say, "Your thoughts were loud."

She lets out a small laugh and I look over at Abigail and Ken. Ken has his arm around her and rubs her arm gently and she looks up at me with a worried look. I know she did everything she could for my boys. I know how much she loves them. I sigh as I come closer to her and say, "Thank you for trying to save my boys."

She nods her head as she says earnestly, "I'll always do anything for them. I'm so sorry, Claudia."

I nod as the empty feeling settles into my heart knowing that I'll have to sleep tonight knowing that my boys aren't in their beds. I take the heavy steps up the stairs and I know that Evan isn't far behind me, but instead of going to our room I head to his office. He follows me and asks, "What are you doing?"

I sigh, "I know you have cameras or something surrounding this pack. Let's figure out what we can, shall we?"

"Claudia, don't you think you should get some rest?"

I shake my head no and answer, "I need to at least try to find them before going to bed, Evan."

He nods, "Okay, dear."

Evan sits down beside me and starts up the camera footage. I take a deep breath as I keep my eyes peeled for anything suspicious. We need to know who took our boys and why.

I ask Evan, "Do you think it's possible to make a werewolf lose their wolf?"

He's quiet and I look at his face to see his lips pressed tightly together before he slowly breathes out and says, "I'm not sure. Back before we had the boys, we discovered that poison that made it where you couldn't shift for a few hours... but having it where you wouldn't be able to again. I don't know. I want to say that it's farfetched, but I can't."
