Alpha's Little Vampire Mate -
Chapter 105
Chloe's POV:
He was taking too long to wake up.
Dracula had invited four more vampires that I could not remember seeing before, and they had surrounded Vodos, reciting whatever ritual it was that there were doing. Then my brothers had taken their turns to reject him and cut off all ties with him as their father. Dracula had also rejected him as his son in-law and then, he was stripped off all all his powers and subjected to eternal condemnation.
Marcus began to stir again and I ran over to him for the seventh time in the last hour, making everyone groan again. I could not be blamed that I was still so worried about him, I suspected that my brother might have been a little too hard on him.
His eyes started to flutter open and I hurried away from him and moved over to where I had sat next to Edwin.
Edwin had been quiet the whole time, his head lowered and I felt him raise his head when he saw that Marcus had come awake. He gave him a dirty look, snorting when Marcus looked around confusedly. "Bastard," he muttered under his breath, earning a scowl from my husband.
Marcus gaze settled on Jason and his scowl deepened. "You!" He pointed an accusing finger. "What did you do to me? Where are my men?!"
I also turned to look at Jason, expecting a reply as well. I had not thought about the other wolves who had accompanied Marcus. If I had counted rightly, they had been about eight to ten off them.
"I sent them back home," he replied, keeping a straight face. "Also wiped out their memories, they won't be up for at least two more hours," he said.
I turned back to Marcus when he groaned again, lifting his eyes to me."What is going on here?" He grunted out, his eyes piercing into mine like he wanted to command the truth out of me.
I cleared my throat, ready to speak when Dracula interrupted.
"Alright!" He yelled, turning our attention back to him and that was when I noticed that the other vampires were gone, along side Vodos now remaining my grandfather and brothers. "I shall be taking my leave as I have more important," he paused, giving Marcus and once over, then repeated the same action with Edwin. "Matters to attend to. Come along boys, I think Chloe is capable of taking care of herself!"
With hesitation plastered on their faces, they grunted their disagreements, each giving Marcus deadly glares. All three vanished and I felt a bit sad, tho king about how it had been this last three days with them. They had been there through all the throwing ups in the mornings and just as I had requested, I got blood and lots of blood. In fact; that was all I had taken all the while I was there.
I sighed a heavy sigh, turning back to the wolves in front of me. They were both glaring at each other and I scoffed, thinking where all of these guts had suddenly come from. Just a few seconds back, each man had sat quietly like he had swallowed his tongue, but I knew they were a mere shaken up by the presence of the vampires in the room. If had never met Dracula or the twins, I bet I might have also been a little shaken up.
"You coward," Edwin suddenly hissed, deciding to break the tensed and uncomfortable silence. "You sleep, lazing around whole your wife fights your battles?" He scoffed, gathering saliva in his mouth and spat it out on the floor. "You are so disgusting, that it sucks to be you!"
Wham!
Oops! It seemed that big mouthed Alpha Edwin had forgotten that he was the one tied in a chair. Just as he had finished his sentence, Marcus had charged across the room and landed a solid fist on his jaw. Before I had a chance to comment... Wham! Wham! What wham wham!
Blood dripped out of Edwin's nose, trickled down his lips and into the collar of his shirt. He panted, still glaring at Marcus. When he spat this te again, it was not on the floor but in Marcus's face. "Go to hell, you piece of shit!" Okay... now I was sure that this bastard had a death wish.
Wham!
Before he had a chance to murder Edwin before I could ask him the question I wanted to, I stepped in and luckily for my face, Marcus was able to cool off at my touch and not deliver a heavy blow that would have sent me flying across the large room.
"I need to talk to you, Edwin..."
He groaned, sparing me a glance, before removing his face away. "I have nothing to say to you, if you both want to kill me, do it fast and spare me the suffering... that had been my intentions all along," he snapped. I raised one brow at him. "Your intentions?"
"To kill you and have Marcus kill me, I had to avenge my dead wife who he brutally murdered!"
"I," Marcus started in a cold but form tone of voice. "Did not kill your wife! Neither did I rape her! How many times do you need me to say this?" "Untill I believe you," he hissed, then added the last part in a whisper. "Which is never going to happen!"
My mind went back to the version of Marcus's detail of what had actually happened and I could tell that he had not lied. He and Edwin's wife had had some sort of affair in the past, which I came to understand was how he lived his life before me. After he found out that she was married, he ended things with her and that had not made her such a happy she-wolf. She had started to create misunderstandings between both Alpha's, telling lies about how she was raped by Marcus, making both that were once allies, into great enemies. On one fateful night, she had come all the way from her town and into Marcus's, somehow funding her way to his room. She tried to get him to make love to her and when he refused, she vowed that she would teach him a great lesson. On one of the annual moon balls that were always held at the end of the year, Edwin was hosting and Marcus had visited with Maggie on his arms. When his wife saw them, she was filled with jealousy and rage and once she had Maggie cornered, she tried to stab her and when Marcus got on the way, she slitted her own throat, saying that she would never be able to live without Marcus and if she couldn't have him, then she rather died. It was too late by the time he reached Edwin and they had her attended to. Her injuries had already healed up just like any other wolf's, but they said her heart had given up. on her.
At least, that was what I knew of the whole situation but none of that was any of my business. What I was dying to know; was why he had murdered Cara, when it comes as obvious that he was in love with her. I just could not make any sense of the whole situation.
"Why?" I interjected, cutting off whatever heated discussion they both had going on, shoving their faces up in each other's. "Why did you kill Cara when you were clearly in love with her?"
There was a long pause for a moment and I noticed that Marcus was also listening and waiting for the reply to my question. I was starting to get impatient z thinking that he was never going to reply, when he started speaking.
"All these years, I had not been with anyone that I could love as much as my wife." He paused again, then ventured. "That only lasted untill Cara came into my life. She made me believe that she loved me and after a while, I started falling in love with her too. Only, I later discovered that she was never in love with me and she had only been with me for the benefits of it. She was already in love with someone," he hissed, his eyes glaring up at Marcus with intense hatred. "You always had to snatch up the things I loved, did you not?"
My heart broke all over as I remembered that not only Cara, but also hundreds of girls out there had also suffered the same or worded fate because they had been involved with my husband. Now I knew the reason he killed her, it kind of sounded selfish, but he had not wanted to leave her behind to be with Marcus, he wanted to leave and be with her in the life after.
I sighed, shrugging. My assignment was done here and I was not going to ignore the fact that my feet were killing me and I needed some much needed rest and some ... blood. The craving suddenly made me miss Dracula cave, apart from the stench smell that came out of it, that place never ran out of blood and that was all I ever wanted!
"I am leaving," I said suddenly.
Both men turned to me and while Edwin's face was bare of any emotion, Marcus raised a questioning brow at me.
"Where are you going?"
"Home," I replied immediately, walking towards the door. I was going to walk past him, when an arm shot out and obstructed my movement. I raised my eyes up to meet his. "I am done with my own part of the fight, this is yours and I have no will to take a part in it!"
I vanished before he could even think about stopping me again. I appeared in front of Mark's and Lily's house, the sight feeling so strange like I had not once lived there. I was still mad at Lily, not like I had suddenly found a place in my not so big heart to forgive her, but I had been touched by what she had said earlier and I thought it was high time I made up with her.
Sluggishly, I ascended the stairs, dragging my feet as I went up one step at a time. No matter how much I had tried to avoid getting to the door, I now stood before it. I raised my hand and knocked.
A few seconds later, the door swung open to reveal a shirtless Mark, standing about two feet over me with a knowing smirk on his lips. "What makes you honour my home with your superior presence, Luna Chloe?" he teased, giving me a very low mock bow.
I rolled my eyes, a little snort escaped my lips. "I am here to see Lily and not you," I snapped. "May I come in?"
The door was thrown. open and he made a gesture with his hand, welcoming me in. I halted in the doorway, when. my eyes fell on Lily. She was sitting on the couch with a blood bag in her hand. I passed her a tight smile and she returned on back. My eyes immediately lowered to the table and that was when I saw a huge bowl containing blood and many unfilled blood bags on the table. My heart melted and I stepped further into the house.
Before I could even speak to her, she jumped up from the couch and came over to me. She flung her arms around my neck and hugged me close to her. The blood on her was making me hungry and she laughed, once she heard the growling sounds from inside of me. She released me and pulled me deeper into the house.
We spent the next hours talking f to each other in a not so friendly manner but still; we were yet to settle our differences!
