Marcus's

POV:

I was still waiting for my wife to return!

It had been over eighteen hours since she left home and she still was not back. My whole mind was clouded with thoughts of what could have possible happened to her, or rather, whatever she might be out there doing, that had taken her so long to get back home.

On the other hand, I was still bothered about the little information Lima had provided me with. Did it mean that Titus knew about Chloe's aunt and was going against me only to protect her? If that was the case... I was not going to let him off this time, never!

I had sent for him to be called and even if that was about twenty minutes ago, he still was nowhere to be found. I huffed, choosing to ignore the insecure feeling in my chest that kept pushing me to go check on whatever was going on with him, and if he was still with Chloe.

I didn't have to do that any more, because he walked in through my front door, looking as ... he usually looked, anyway. "I send for you twenty years ago and it is now you decided to come?"

"I am sorry, man," he sighed, dropping down on the couch opposite of me. "I was busy with Chloe," he added enthusiastically.

"Wow!" I stated dryly. "That is awesome. I just hope the enemies would not be taking us by surprise, because our Gamma is too busy these days," I snapped.

He gave me a long look, different emotions fleeting across his face until worry surfaced and remained there. "Marcus? Are you alright?"

I looked away from him, rubbing a palm down my face. "Chloe is not home yet and she has been out since morning," I replied, not wanting to go into the juicy details.

He nodded thoughtfully, muttering something along the lines of that being why I was so grumpy. "Will you have an idea of any where she could possibly have gone to?"

"No," I replied immediately, turning to give him a cautious glare. "Why are you asking?" I used an accusing tone of voice, when I asked. "Is anything the problem?"

He looked surprised by my open harshness with him, but did not say anything about it. We remained silent for a while before he finally spoke up. "You called me over here, so why did you call?"

I contemplated if to ask him about here or not. He didn't look like someone who would tell me the truth even if he knew, the guy was totally whipped! What if they were both in on some kind of plan?

"Alpha?" I turned to look at him, when he called for my attention. "I asked why you called for, why did you want me to come over?" he asked again.

"I suddenly do not feel like talking to you about anything again," I said, meeting his eyes so he could understand that I was being serious. "I do not trust you... anymore."

He blinked, his eyes slowly leaving mine as he seemed deep in thoughts. I watched h carefully, my whole body was tensed as if it expected him to jump at me anytime and put a knife to my throat. "Do you not like that I have been spending time with Chloe?"

"What?!" I scoffed. "You can do v whatever you wish, I do not care! But if you have some kind of funny business or conspiracy going on, just so you know; I will not be forgiving you or ever think about forgiving you!"

"What the hell," he muttered. His face was scrunched up in confusion and he look like he was getting angry. "What are you even talking about?!"

"So you mean to tell me, that you had no idea that the red headed thing you have gotten yourself obsessed with, had been awake for almost a week?!"

"I had no idea that Chloe had been awake-" He suddenly paused, his eyes rounding up as wide as saucers. "Sorry what?! She has been awake?!"

I searched his eyes to see if I would see any signs that he was lying, but he looked just as shocked as he sounded. I sighed, finally understanding what she was doing. She had been pretending to be awake all this time, just to get more time to do whatever it was that she was planning on doing. "I think we being played here..."

Titus shook his head, a little bitter chuckle leaving his lips. "It kinda makes sense now, how had I not thought about it?" His eyes returned back to mine. "So what now? Should I watch her and see what she is up to?"

"No need," I said, waving dismissively at him. "There is no need for any of that, I know just the perfect person for the job," I said, my mind going to a particular in-law of mine. I thought for a while, then waited for a few minutes before speaking; "just keep acting normal with her and just so you know, don't try to do anything funny or we all could be in danger. Who knows; maybe you will be the first to get affected by it."

He nodded, collapsing back on the chair with one arm on his forehead. "I keep falling in love with the wrong ones, don't I?"

I did not answer because that was not a question for me to reply to. He had to figure that out by himself, which it seemed like he had already done that a few minutes ago.

We sat in comfortable silence, me worrying about my wife, while Titus was probably thinking about Chloe's aunt. The feeling of dread returned, as I went back to think about whatever she could be planning. Did she want to harm Chloe on some sort of way? Was she really trying to make amends and I was maybe the one misunderstanding her?

"You know what I think," Titus's voice interjected with my thoughts. I turned to stare at him and slowly, his eyes that were void of any emotions; turned hard as stone and cold as ice. "I think I am fed up with stupid people thinking they can keep taking us for granted, let's just kill her before she thinks about doing anything!"

I stared at his angry face, nose flaring and lips stretched into an ugly scowl. Was killing her the best option? If there was anything I knew for sure, was that Chloe still had some use for her, she would be mad if I touched a hair on her aunt's hair without her permission. I did not want us to argue over someone I did not even consider important enough! "Nobody is killing anybody! She can't die untill Chloe say so... you yourself, you know how my wife can be."

He grunted his displeasure, but said nothing to argue with me. He stayed for a while, we talked about random things, shifting the topic to more important matters like fighting against the vampires, if they decided to attack us.

They were unpredictable creatures and if Dracula had killed his own daughter, I could not put it past him to still try and come at my wife all for the excuse of that bloody throne of his!

*

Two more hours, the front door creaked and I whipped my head to look in its direction. It proceeded to crack another inch open, then another and another.

Chloe shoved her head on through the door, and I sighed in relief but another Chloe came in after the first one. My eyes widened as my wife stood in two places and both were staring at me with large, scared eyes. "Marcus!" Chloe number one suddenly called. "I thought you should be out in town by now, what re you doing here?!"

"Is that your husband?" Chloe number one whispered, earning a nudge in the side from Chloe number one.

I eyed both ladies and watching carefully now, I knew who my wife was. The other lady was a little older and paler and wore a dress that looked oddly familiar but I just could not place my hand on where exactly I had seen it. "Can someone explain what is going on here," I asked, raising a brow at them.

The other Chloe looked calm, while my wife looked like was about to enter into the ground. She gulped visibly and I adjusted, to get a perfect look at her. "Do not take this someway, but I do not know how to exactly explain this to you," she muttered more to herself than to me.

"Explain anyhow, I'm listening..."

She huffed, her shoulders sagging as she resigned. "This is my Mother, Claire."

I eyes quickly moved over to the said mother and my eyes ran all over her. What. The. Hell! Wasn't her mother supposed to be dead?

Dracula had kept her and brought her back to life by swapping another soul for hers. He was hoping to use her to get to me, while also giving her another chance to live but..." she hesitated, her eyes flickering over to her mother who had not taken her eyes off me the whole time. "I had found out when I was not supposed to and even when she intended on taking her own life again, she has to save me and helped us both escape."

That was quite a lot to take in, you all had to agree with me. I did not know what to make of it and never did I know that vampires had the ability to bring back a dead person. What was I supposed to say to my mother in-law? I truly had no words, I could not even think of any!

"Please, say something," Chloe muttered, staring me right in the eye. Her mother in question, walked away from her, carrying both our attention with her as she dropped down on another sofa. My eyes went back to Chloe, and her worries looked to have lessened but she still looked at me expectantly.

"What can I say?" I asked with a little shrug. "It is what it is!"

She heaved a sigh of relief and the next second, she was no longer standing where she had been. She dropped into my lap, giving me a big kiss and I returned it. We sat there gripping each other and my erection growing with need as I could not remember when last I made love to my wife. That only lasted until someone cleared their throat.

We both turned to see her mother smiling slyly at us. "You both should give it a break, I will be gone soon and you can do whatever you like with each other," she said but did not sound rude.

"We already talked about this," Chloe whined, stepping away from me and moving to where her mother sat; crossed legged. "You are not going anywhere mummy, you have to stay! If you leave me again, it would not stop your demon of a father from coming after me! Stay with me," her voice sounded so broken as she pleaded with her mother. "Fight with me, I don't think my husband has a problem with that, right honey?"

It made me feel a little uneasy, coupled with the fact that Chloe was still here. Keeping her mother here, meant war and though I knew one was always going to come, but this would pull some sort of trigger on the Dracula and he may wage war sooner than I expected!

"Marcus," my wife growled, deep scowl on her face. "You are more than happy to keep my mother here with us, are you not?"

"She can stay," I replied in a bored tone.

Chloe gave me a dirty look, before turning back to her mother. "See? He does not mind you living with us. After we kill your father, you can stay with us, or go back to the coven and take your rightful place as queen!"

A lot of arguments took place after that and I sat back, watching as both ladies bickered at each other. At some point I had to step in, as my ears had started to wear out from all the talking.

"Can some please explain to me, how it all happened?"
