Alpha's Little Vampire Mate -
Chapter 113
Marcus's
POV:
Her eyes suddenly began to dim and then, she started to transform into something frightful. I struggled with the pride of my wolf that kept urge me to remain where I was and fight if I had to, while my human conscience told me to run and not look back.
It was a different creature entirely and I felt a cold cover me from the crown of my head to the sole of my feet as I stared with horrified eyes. Slowly, it started to transform and soon, she was back in front of me.
"Shh," she said, raising a finger to her lips. "No one is to hear about what you saw. I have now transcended into something superior than my father and he has no idea about it. The immortals are greatly displeased with him and their favor is with me."
So, what was that thing?" I asked, now trying to calm my raising heart.
"It is a spirit creature I was gifted, in order to always be with my children. I will have to leave, in order for it to stay. Should in case Chloe ever gets terrified, I want you to tell her that the creature will never do her any harm... We kept talking for a while. Some talks were not so pleasant, while some were a little bit... nice. We went silent, taking a long break untill she decided to break the silence.
"I have heard a lot about you," she started, staring at me me from under her nose and how that made me feel so small. "The infamous Alpha Marcus, I still find it hard to believe that you ended up being my daughter mate!"
My chest constricted painfully, as her words hit me harder than she knew that they did. I was not so bothered about what anyone heard of me or thought of me, untill now. I slowly took my gaze away from hers. "What are you talking about?" I asked.
A little chuckle escaped her but when I had the courage to peer up at her face again, I saw that she was not in the least amused! If anything, she looked like she was ready to murder someone. "So you think that I never heard stories about how you used women like they were the sand beneath your feet? Hell, I heard about you from my friends!"
My eyes brow furrowed, my face scrunching up in confusion as I tried to make sense of what she was saying. What friend could she possibly be talking ab- fuck!
"Ah hah," she said, seeing the realization plastered all over my face. "I see you now seem to understand all about what I was talking about. My daughter told me about your boy, Lima. That particularly witch, Therese, she was a friend a of mine and was crying all over me, when you broke her heart. I know a lot more, do I need to list them out to you?"
I did not reply, my heart beating a mile per second. I had never felt as embarrassed as I did right now and I felt o had to make up some sort of excuse for her. I could not let her tell Chloe that she disapproved of me, I needed to think of something... real quick!
"Save it," she spat, raising a hand up in my face. "Do not even bother to give me any excuses, we both know I am staying a fact!" She moved towards me, raised a tiny finger and began to shove it in my chest. "At least I wanted to trust you! I knew of your reputation, but I still trusted you to protect my daughter!"
"That is what I have been doing the whole time," I gritted through clenched teeth. It was no longer a wonder where Chloe got her stubbornness from, it was definitely from this woman!
She shook her head at me, her disappointment still swirling in her eyes as she stared at me. "You have not, or you would have not let that snake into your land, she will hurt my baby!"
"You know how strong headed your daughter is; she would not listen even when I told her to. When she makes a decision, nothing can change it, not even me!"
She huffed, pacing around in front of me that I started to get dizzy. "You are her man, you should have stopped her. She is only but a child and she is bound to make some silly decisions!" She trailed off, coming to pause in front of me. "But it is not too late, you can still right your wrongs," she said, giving me an intense look.
"So, what do you want me to do?"
"Kill her." "huh?"
She sighed, her shoulders sagging as she went to sit on one of the steps leading up to the little, familiar cottage. "Chloe is pregnant," she deadpanned.
My mouth fell open and my jaw nearly dropped to the ground, as I was taken aback by her revelation.
"How did you know that?" I asked, staring at her cautiously. But for real, how could she have known something, that I wasn't even sure of yet?
I heard her scoff and I raised my eyes to meet hers. "I smell it," she said, giving me a bored look. "That is one of the many perks of being a vampire. I sensed it the moment I saw her and that was why I took her away from that dratted cave!" I gulped, a strange feeling of fear crept up my body and settled in my chest, making me feel like it was about to explode. "Does he know?" I dared to ask, even when I knew the answer to the question already.
She cocked one thick brow. "Who? The Dracula?" I nodded and she scoffed, rolling her eyes in a way that made me feel really stupid for even asking the question in the first place! "Of course he knows," she paused, a thoughtful look crossing her face. "Now I think about, I think that was the main reason he decided to bring me back into her life... he has something going on in that thick head of his, he definitely does!"
Damnation! What the hell was going on?! Why can't I just have a moment of peace with my wife? "What do you think is is planning? Because as far as I know, he should not have told anything to Chloe, because she still seems unaware..." She shrugged. "That, I cannot tell you for now, but I want you to take away the evil around her. Once Chloe finds out that my daughter is pregnant, she will act out. She never liked me, and she also never liked my child. With what I have come to understand, she manipulated you and Chloe into going to kill her husband, so she could be closer to my daughter and maybe...," she paused, probably thinking of what terrible things Chloe's aunt could do her. "Kill her."
I cursed under my breath, going to settle down beside her. We remained in comfortable silence, just taking in the serene environment I had gotten to see in my wife's dreams a couple of times. "How was life with only your husband and daughter? Did you not get bored?" I suddenly asked, trying to change the topic.
She gave me a look that showed her surprise at my sudden friendly. "I know you don't really like, no need to put up a friendly act," she grumbled.
I shut my mouth after then, not expecting any word from her but then, she started to talk.
"It was wonderful," she said in a little voice that was full of excitement and memories. She looked up at the house, her eyes clouding over and for the first time since she resurrected; I truly felt pity for her. "Chloe used to play around here when she was a little girl, and I watched here grow up here. You should know my other kids?"
I nodded.
"Good," she said, trying to mask the amusement that was glittering in her eyes. "Because Jason had lot of awful things to say about you," she teased.
I huffed, rolling my eyes as I fought with a smile of my own. "It is no secret, that they are not quite fond of me... especially, that Jason of yours," I replied. How exactly could I be blamed for that? It was obvious that it was a difficult thing to try pleasing this family. I strongly had my doubts that even if one was to chop off his head and serve it to them on a tray, they still would not be satisfied!
"The twins were never happy that I left their father and cam to be with a werewolf, but with time, Angelo got to understand me better. As for Jason," she paused, chuckling to probably some funny memory she had. "He was that's nut to crack. He would not listen to any form of reasoning, not untill when I died, that he realized I loved him just as much as I love his sister and I love them all equally, but I can't stay..."
I turned my head to look at her, but she was not looking at me. She stared straight ahead, her eyes looking lost in some faraway thoughts like she could see something in the future that I could not.
"You need to be strong and take care of my daughter. Look after her and the child in her womb, I heard she had been taking more blood than usual?"
"That is all she take these days."
She gave a little nod, a little sound like that of a chuckle escaping her throat. "That baby is a vampire baby, she/he would take more of a vampire form that a werewolf." She then turned to give me a serious look. "You should be very careful with that child, I suspect that my father might be up to something..."
"Phew!" The sound left my lips as I took in a deep breath. Just when I start thinking that some of my problems are over, more just keep coming along. "Then, shall we make a plan on how to kill him?"
"Not yet, I already asked my sons to watch his every move, if he makes no move to attack, we can't attack him first or it will turn the immortals against us!"
Too many rules with these vampires, what exactly was it with them? We could attack first and luckily, kill the Dracula and know that we are done with him once and for all! Not that I said any of that to my mother in-law, the lady was a though one and I could not get myself in her black book more than I have already done.
She asked that we go home and this time when she stretched forth her hand; I collected it and off we went, teleporting to where I had no idea about. Suddenly, we were pulled to a stop by a strong force and I look around my environment to see that we were back on my land and by the hospital.
I turned to her, raising a questioning brow. "I never knew you would be so eager to meet your sister in-law, I would have taken you to her earlier, if you had asked."
She gave me a dirty look, walking away and over to the entrance of the hospital. "I would not let her see me," she hissed, her face contorting into something far dangerous than I had ever seen. "You will be the one to meet her,"she muttered, flipping her hand just as I had seen Chloe do a couple of times.
It was quite incredible how she looked just like Chloe. If not for the hair colour, it would have almost been impossible to differentiate between them!
"So, what do I say to her when I meet her?"
She scoff, passing me a look of disbelief. "Are you trying to be funny? Because it does not amuse me at all!"
She was such a quick tempered one, was she not? It was no wonder that my wife had a similar trait which did not go well with me at all! She looked about ready to kill and when we got to the door of Chloe's room, she vanished.
I sighed, knowing that I was to go from here alone. How was I expected to kill someone when I came here unprepared? I had to think of something but first; I had to see if she was now awake or still sleeping due to the effect of the poison. The door creaked as I pushed it open a crack and stepped in.
The bed... was empty.
What the hell? Where could that snake have gone to? I looked about the room frantically, searching to see if she was in some place, some where in here, but she was not.
"Damn," I muttered under my breath, placing both hands on my waist. "Lima," I called, knowing that he could hear me from across the other side. I waited for his reply but none came. I decided to go in there and look for him myself but when I went in there, I saw something else...
"Hello there," she smirked evilly, the tip of her dagger pressing deeper into the side of his head. "You are just in time, we have been waiting for you..."
