Alpha's Little Vampire Mate -
Chapter 77
Marcus's POV:
I had been quiet the whole time, listening to Lima ramble off about Draculas and vampires and covens and whatnots. I had not said much, but his next words made me lift my eyes from the paper to look at him. "What are you insinuating?"
Lima gave me a smug look, his eyebrows slightly raised. "I said; the stronger the successor, the more powerful the predecessor." The wheels began to spin in my head and my eyes widened in realization. "So that means..."
"Yep!" He reply, his shoulders slumped as he heaved a tired sigh. "It is exactly what you are thinking. He wants Luna Chloe to ascend his throne, as she is yet the most powerful of all in his bloodline. When she becomes 'coven mistress', that is the new Dracula, her grandfather would transcend onto becoming an immortal and take his place with the gods of the underworld."
"And what if she refuses?" I asked, already contacting Chloe through the link. My head was spinning and with the new information I had just gathered, I didn't think they would be an easy way out of any of these. For Chloe, he had murdered his own daughter and obviously, he would not cease a minute, to spare anyone who stood in his way to get to her. At least, I knew for a fact that he would not harm her.
"Well... he would just have to take her by force."
My heart came down, a sigh of relief escaping me as Chloe replied saying she was alright. Now she was with him and it worried me greatly that she might not be able to handle the situation. What if he tricked her into submitting to him? "I forgot to mention," Lima spoke up again, attracting my attention. "It is mandatory for the Dracula to take human blood as it keeps them strong and superior over other vampires, especially those who do not consume human blood." My stomach churned as bile rose to my throat, at such disgusting information. I could not imagine Chloe consuming the blood of an innocent person, how could they drag her into such absurdity and wickedness? "That is not all you know?" Lima said, earning a glare from me. He gulped, his eyes darting about and refusing to meet mine. "You asked me to get you information and that is all I am doing," he sounded a wee hurt.
I sighed. "Look Lima, I don't mean to seem ungrateful okay?" I paused, hesitating for a moment. "I am just worried and everything seems really too much to take in at once. Forgive me, if I make you feel like I don't appreciate you, I really do." He nodded, a wide toothed grin adorning his lips. "It is no problem at all! All you need to do, is keep her away from him and most importantly, the Draculas cave."
My face scrunched up in confusion. Lima most have recognized the expression on my face because he started scattering through the papers sprawled out in front of us, then singled out a sheet and handed it to me. "What is this?" I asked. "That is information on Dracula's cave. There is a picture at the back, my witch friend could not make a better picture of it but that was the best she could sketch out."
I flipped the paper over, and there was a diagram(if not close) of what I had seen in Chloe's memories. My heart sped up as I thought about leaving Chloe with him alone. It had been almost two hours and I could not help but wonder where they were at.
"Would you like me to play the audio while you read, or would you like me to shut up?"
As much as I would have like him to shut up, it was better when he explained these things to me. My mind was troubled and it was already hard enough fixing the words together. At some point, my mind blurred and all I could see were mental images of Chloe being in danger. So the talking could serve as a good distraction from all of that. "Please Lima, go ahead and speak."
"Ehem!" He cleared his throat. "Dracula's cave is where a particular coven of vampire's reside, under the authority of a coven master. It is a dangerous zone for an enemy of the coven master. Inside of those rocks, no magic or power has effect except for the Dracula. He wields all the powers in there and if he wishes to inflict any kind of power on you, you are left defenseless and helpless."
Have you ever been in a situation, where you feel like you had knowingly walked into a trap even when you knew it would catch you? That was exactly how I felt right now. I had known all along that Chloe's plan was a horrible one and she on the other hand, was a stubborn one! Even if she were told that the cave was a threat to her, she would still walk right through the gates, daring the danger to stretch forth its wicked hands and claim her. "Lima?" I called in a low voice.
"Yes Alpha?"
"What if," I started, uncertainty mocking me in the face. "Someone else who is not a vampire, were to go in there?"
"Hmmm," he placed a finger on his chin, as he looked to be thinking about my question. "It depends on what you are going there to do."
I raised one inquisitive brow at him. "What is that supposed to mean?" I asked.
"If you are invited by the Dracula and he has no plans on eating you, then you are safe. But if you sneak into that place, be rest assure that your end will be dried bones and an empty skull."
