Alpha's Little Vampire Mate -
Chapter 83
Chloe's POV:
The window of our bedroom shattered and the glass splattered all over the floor. Not bothering to see who the attacked was, I quickly rolled Marcus with me under the bed. He went to speak but I placed a finger against his lips, hushing him. I listened carefully, there were no movements. I turned us invisible, my arms still tightly wrapped against Marcus's waist as my heart drummed crazily in my chest.
Then, there was the sound of the door being pushed opened. Carefully but loud footsteps entered the room and my already tensed body stiffened, as I sensed a familiar presence in the room.
"I do not see them anywhere," a gruff male voice spoke.
"I was so sure that they would be in here," the female voice piped in. They was scrubbing of feet against the carpet and then I almost gasped in shock, when a face suddenly appeared by the side of the under bed. "They aren't under the bed." I released the breath that I didn't even realize that I was holding. That was so close and if I had not gotten us transformed as fast as I had, they could have caught us. I head the walk out of the bathroom.
"She is not here, did you deceive us?" I man asked, roughly grabbing the woman's arm and I felt like going to her rescue, but Marcus's arms tightened around me, stopping me. "If you don't lead us to her in two days, we will kill that lover boy of yours!"
My eyes widened, but I noticed Marcus was not not surprised at all. I eyed him suspiciously, but he only returned me a blank stare.
"Please, do not hurt him, he is all I have," the lady dropped to her knees in a thud, as she begged for mercy. "I am sure if I just talk to her, she would understand and come with you, please don't hurt her, she is in- Wham!
The force of the slap pushed the lady to the ground and before I could growl, a hand slammed against my mouth, and his arms held me more firmly. I gave him the itch eye but he ignored it, only shaking his head negatively.
I tried to force myself to relax, as I listened to what was going on outside from under the bed. They were harsh words spoken and in all, the lady kept cry and begging. Soon, they were hurried footsteps and the door shut behind us. I kept still and quiet, until I heard the front door close and I was sure that they were long gone.
Rolling off Marcus, I pulled myself from under the bed. He came out through the other side and I took the invisibility spell off. I sharply turned to him. "What was that about?"
He shrugged, getting back under the covers. "I do not know what that was about, but I guess I know who would be able to supply us with such information."
I was taken aback by his nonchalant attitude, and it was hard to believe that he had no idea of what had just unfolded a few minutes ago. "Who ever is it that you think can help us with such information?"
"Titus."
Oh!
I dropped down into bed two, resuming my previous position. My mind worried me as the wheel began to spin in my head, and I kept thinking of the probability of my thoughts being true. It would break my heart all the more, if any other person were to die because of me.
Marcus shifted closer, his one arm coming to wrap around my waist but I grabbed it, and shoved him away. He tried again and I still pushed him, even turning to give him a warning glare. "Can I not at least cuddle you?" He asked, his voice coming off helpless.
"No," I gave him a quick once over, huffing as I turned my back to him. "You can't. I have far more important things to worry about and I do not need you distracting me, okay?"
A funny sound left his throat, can't tell if it was a grunt. "How will us cuddling distract you? It's not like I asked to have sex..."
A snort escaped me, my nose wrinkling in the process. "If you even think of having sex, there are still monkeys in the bush, you can have your pick from any of the females." I smirked, when he made that funny but satisfying sound again. The room went eerily quiet and I could feel his heated glare at the back of my head. It seemed like he had a lot to say to me, but then, he relax back on the bed, a sigh leaving him. "Is this still about Therese?"
I kept mute, remembering that I had once chopped off my tongue and swallowed it.
"Why are you females so filled with unnecessary jealousy? Why burden yourself over unimportant things? I already told you that she meant nothing to me!"
"And I told you that I don't care!" My back was still to him, his incessant talking starting to get to me and it was somewhat irritating that he would not stop mentioning Therese. "I have a very busy day tomorrow, so let's please not talk about unimportant things."
"Fine,"he said, his voice laced with resignation. "We won't talk about Therese, but at least-"
"If you are still so in love with her, then go to her," I interjected in snarky tone. "Just stop calling her name at every chance you get!"
"You really are a troublesome woman, aren't you?"
That was it!
His words ticked me off and I sat up, turning to face him. "And you are a shameless wolf who can not keep it in his pants! Must you sleep with everything you see in skirts? Do you know how embarrassing it is to know that you have slept with every woman I have ever come across?" A thought just crossed mind and I gasped dramatically. "Please, tell me you also haven't screwed Lily, please tell me."
"Stop this nonsense!" He yelled, slamming his hands on the bed and I trembled slightly. He came to grab my arms and I did not stop him this time. "What is wrong with you?" He asked, shaking me violently. "Why are you being so childish? Can you not try to be more mature about this matter?"
I scoffed, rolling my eyes at him. "It seems to me that you might have forgotten," I spat venomously, plucking my arms away from his hold. "That you got married to a child. I am only eighteen, what kind of maturity you expect from me?" "No no," he had a look of sternness on his face, as he wagged a finger in my face. "Do not try to bend my point here. You know exactly what I am talking about!"
"I do not know anything," I growled. "And I do not wish to know, leave me alone!"
Was it so bad that right now I was burning with jealousy and anger, my whole body heating up with fury. No matter how I tried to convince myself that I wasn't even born by that time, I could not help but feel that he had cheated on me all this time. Even my wolf agreed, she had been quiet the whole time and I could feel a depression growing on her.
His features softened and I saw something along the lines of regrets in his eyes but blinded by my own rage, I didn't care at all. "Look baby, I need you to calm down so we can figure things out. I promise you that I have not cheated on you with anyone and I have no intentions on doing that. Please, just keep your get over yourself."
I growled, picking up my pillow and started started to climb out of bed. "I do not wish to get over myself, so you can go to one of your mature whores who can do that," he grabbed my hand as I went to leave. I shrugged out of his hold. "Leave this child alone, leave me!"
"Chloe Blackwood!"
I ignored him.
"Dom't you dare walk out on me, I am your husband and her command you to get back here!"
I scoffed, going out into the corridor and closing the door behind me. I hurried over to the next room, letting myself in and joint right into bed. I thought I wouldn't be able to sleep that night because of all the things I had to worry about, but I don't even know when I dozed off...
**
The next morning: This was me getting dressed to step out and also trying to ignore my husband.
I woke up early, sneaking into the room to find him still asleep. I stepped into the bathroom, cleaned up, then I woke him up with a loud bang on the headboard.
Now he had showered, dressed and was now sitting on the bed and looking ate with tired eyes as I took the time to do my makeup. "Since when did you start wearing so much make up?"
I smacked my lips together, rubbing them gently against each other to make sure that the lipstick smoothened out perfectly. "Since I realized that my husband had a thing for bimbos," I saw him flinch through the mirror, and oh, how happy that made me. "I can not be left behind you know? He might just shove himself into another one in the future and when that happens," I paused, meeting his eyes through the mirror. "I would not like to be held responsible for the decapitation of him."
I saw him visible shudder, the black lipstick and black eyeliner circling my eyes, made my look more wicked and determined. I had one last admiring and long gaze at myself, then sighed in contentment. I was ready! Ready to go out there and face all the bad guys and this time, I would be the one to take the war to them.
I turned with a wide grin on my face. "Now, let's go have breakfast and just so you know, I invited Titus over."
He nodded, taking reluctant strides towards me. He gave me an arm and I thanked him, dropping a little peck on his cheek as I took his hand. He gave me a weird look, his eyes roaming all over my body. "Are you alright?"
I gave him a beaming smile. "Of course, I am very well, are you?"
He eyed me skeptically, his eyes flickering down to my stomach and he had a look of uncertainty on his face. "Yeah... it's just, I do not understand you at all," he muttered more to himself.
"And what is that supposed to mean," I snapped, my nose starting to flare as anger rose inside of me.
His eyes widened, as he pointed at my face. "There... that is exactly what I was trying to say. This whole cold and hot attitude, all at one time. Do you not also notice that you have been too emotional of late?"
"Nonsense," I thought out loud, not letting him try to put any thoughts in. my head. I was normal and perfectly fine, nothing was wrong with me, absolutely nothing at all! "We better stop talking and make it to breakfast in time, we can't waste precious time talking about useless things!"
***
By the time we were done with breakfast, Titus had filled us up with information that left me feeling all furious and sad at the same time. Mark did not have to go through all he did at the hands of that vile woman, to think that I had even thought her to be a good person in the past!
"Are the men ready," I asked, earning a sharp look from Marcus. Titus nodded firmly, his eyes glowering with steel determination. "Good, I will lead the army."
"You will do no such thing," Marcus growled, giving me a warning glare. "I will lead, Titus would support and you will defend. Have I made myself clear?"
I did not reply, but stood up and left the house, both men following right behind me.
