Alpha's Little Vampire Mate -
Chapter 91
Chloe's POV:
I kept staring up at him with puppy eyes, batting my eyes up at him. "Will you?" I asked again.
He stared down at me, his lips tightly pressed against each other. His fists were clenched, his knuckles almost turning white and I lowered my hands to unclench them and locked out fingers together. He still had not said anything yet and with how much his facial muscles kept straining, it was hard to visualize him making a sound anytime in the nearest future!
"Babe," I called, shaking his stiff body. "I asked if you would let my aunt stay with us?"
"Yes," he gritted out in a cold voice. "I. Will," after so much struggling, he replied.
I gave him a beaming smile. "Thank you my love," I said, raising myself up on my toes and smacked a kiss to his lips. I grabbed his hand, pulling him further into the town. My legs trembled slightly, my eyes spinning as I moved. My body had been acting strangely of late and I couldn't understand what was going on. Was that because I had used so much powers of late? Had I outdone myself? I would have talked to Lily about it, if only I did not feel like seeing her face or even being in the same room with her for more than a second!
The tall fence of the royal house which rose above the other houses, came into view and our footsteps increased as we approached.
I could already hear the place bustling with life, as servants busied themselves with running errands and stopping to greet us as we made our way inside the house. I stopped my a young maid, asking that a glass of juice be brought for me before I cleaned up and readied to have breakfast. "Phew!" I sighed, slumping down on a couch in the living room. I turned to look at my brooding husband who had been following quietly behind me the whole time. "Are you alright?" "Hmph!"
That was all I got as a reply, before he walked away from me and stomped away.
I snorted, deciding not to let unnecessary attitudes from certain people get to me. I fidgeted with my fingers, while I waited for the juice I had asked for and it was not too long, when another maid came in with a glass of apple goodness in a little tray. She placed it down on the table before me and before she could make her way out, I stopped her. "What is your name?"
"Daniella, my Luna," she replied in a shy voice, keeping her head down.
It was by the grace of whichever gods that were above, did I stop myself from rolling my eyes. "Have a seat," I offered, waving her over to the cushion opposite of me.
She hesitated, looking at me with a hint of surprise and shyness.
"Do not worry, sit."
"I have no problem standing, my Luna," she hastily replied, her scared eyes flickering over to me then back to the floor as she went back to admiring it so lovingly.
I sighed, trying so hard not to let the building up anger overcome me. I easily got angry these days, but it seemed to me like Daniella had no idea about that. "Who asked you to sit?" "You did."
"And whom am I to you?"
"You are my Luna, my queen."
I slapped my tongue against my teeth, twice. "So, why do you disobey me?" I asked, cocking one eyebrow. The more she kept silent, the thinner my patience became. "Answer me!"
She trembled slightly, and I wondered if I scared her. Was she scared of me? Do I scare the people around me? Are my subjects scared of me?
"Look at me!" I commanded, making her lift her eyes up to meet mine and I trapped her in, not letting her look away even if that was what she wanted. "Now, you tell me the truth-are you scared of me?"
"No Luna!" She replied too quickly for my liking. Her eyes diverted back to the ground but not fast enough because I saw the fear lingering in them.
My heart skip a beat and I felt pain there, like someone had taken thousands of needles and pricked me there. She really was scared and that could only mean that the rest of the servants also were and maybe, hopefully not; the rest of the pack as well. My mind went back to the day in the woods, when I had overheard some she-wolves talking about my double personality and it bothered me if that had anything to do with Daniella's attitude. There was only one way to find out! "You are scared of me," I deadpanned. She started to shake her head in denial, but I shot her an icy look, making her movement cease and her lips clamped shut. "Why? Why are you scared of me?"
"Luna I... I...," she stuttered, looking around helplessly, like she would find something that could save her out of this. "I am not-"
"Shh...," I interjected, stopping her with a raised finger. "Whatever should come out of that mouth of yours, should better be the truth, or else; I will rip you apart and feed you the scavengers!"
I had not meant for that to come out as a threat, but with the way Daniella was shaking; it seemed to me like she really felt threatened.
She gulped visibly, her head casted downwards. "I do fear you," she finally said.
Believe me when I say; that I had not prepared for the kind of stab that that did to my chest. What the hell was wrong with me? Why did I care about what a servants thought about me? When the hell did I even start care g about what anyone had to say about me? Does that mean I should not bother with her anymore?
"Why do you fear me?" I asked, betraying my sense of good judgement. "Tell me, why do you fear me...?"
Her lips parted open, and I thought she was going to speak, only for her to fall down on her knees and her forehead hit the ground. "I am sorry my Luna! My tongue has refused to say out any abominable words towards you, do not punish me any longer by asking, do not!"
I stared down at her bent figure. Definitely, something was going on here! What would make her so hesitant to talk? It had to be what I suspected, it had to be!
My heart picked up velocity!
"Daniella?" I called. She remained there, her head still buried on the floor. "Get up and talk toe right now, before I kick you on the behind!"
She immediately shot up, muttering her apologies. She was a dramatic one, I had to give her that, but her eyes darting all over the place in fear and her lips quivering, was sign enough that she wasn't acting up.
I took a step towards her, and she flinched, taking about three frightened steps backwards. My heart tore apart and I saw red. "Get out!" I hissed.
She remained rooted to the floor, obviously getting horrified at the redness of my eyes.
"Get out! Out!"
She raised our the room and I growled, throwing my glass at the wall and the whole liquid splattered all over.
I heaved, rubbing my hands down my face as I felt my demon relax. She had been over doing it these days, it felt like I no longer had any control over her and it made me feel scared and helpless. How would I be able to lead these people, if I scare them so much?
I got up, running up the stairs and into our bedroom. I ran into a naked Marcus, who had just stepped out of the bathroom and was clutching a large towel in his hands. "Baby, I'm dead!"
He studied me carefully, his hand that was drying up his hair halted the process. "What happened?" He asked, searching my eyes with curiosity etched on his face.
"I just met with a maid downstairs right?-"
He nodded.
"-then I had a confrontation with this maid and she seemed really scared of me. I kind of lost it and my demon might or might not have shown herself?"
"Damnation!" Marcus cursed, muttering some more curses under his breath. "Whatever were you thinking, Chloe? What is your problem?" He took a deep breath. "What do you want me to do now?"
My face paled, as I stared at him in disbelief. "Are you blaming me for this?!" I huffed, going to shove a finger in his chest. "This would not have gone viral, if you had protected me the way you ought to!" "Oh, so you blame me now?!"
"Yes, I do!"
He shook his head, giving me an incredible look. "I can't do this right now, there is no way I would be doing this with you?!" He tried to walk around me, but I shoved him back with much force and he was uprooted due to the force and his back collided against the wall and he groaned painfully.
"Marcus!" I rushed towards him, my eyes wide with worry. I went to kneel beside him, taking his face in my palms. "Oh baby, I am so sorry! I... I did not mean to shove you so hard!"
He shoved my hands away when I tried to help him, getting off the ground himself. "Just be on your own and give me some breathing space, I do not understand what is becoming of you and I am not liking it one bit!"
My lips trembled violently and I started sniffing as tears started to form in my eyes. "I did not do it on purpose, I did not mean to hurt you!"
"But you did!" He yelled in my face, giving me a look that he had never given me before; a look of disappointment. My heart ripped into shreds, as his cold eyes gazed into my teary ones. "Maybe letting you go to that dratted cave was a mistake, this is not you Chloe, I do not know what is becoming of you!"
I spun around almost immediately, watching his naked back as he walked away from me and into the closet. I slammed a palm against my mouth, when the first sob choked at me and threatened to slip out. Back to square one all over, I felt alone all over again.
I went over to the bedside drawer, and took out my own key. Not bothering to have a shower first, I took off my boots, replacing them with my pink fur flip-flops and out I went. I started with a slow jog once I stepped out of the house, and soon I shifted into my little silver wolf and she leapt into the air for joy, racing into the woods.
***
How many hours had past? Twelve? Thirteen? I had lost count.
After leaving the house and letting my wolf sprint about for a while, I shifted back into my human form, going invisible as I gathered up my clothes and put them back on. I decided to use the trees, wanting to avoid as much drama as I could, giving that my last time in the woods had not turned out too nicely. I had already given away too much information, I did not want a situation where I would have to use anymore of my vampire abilities to protect myself. I had already angered Marcus enough, I wouldn't want to cause anymore problems for him.
I had gone straight to our cave house, letting myself in and making something to eat from the provisions we had reserved there last time. Then, I took some time to master my skills, practicing each of them on different objects, then I would clap excitedly at my progress.
After that, I fell asleep and just now I woke up to some noise coming from outside. I rolled my eyes, knowing that it was only Marcus who knew about this secret hideout of ours, maybe he had come to look for me?
My senses were still a little dull as I had just awoken but soon, I started to perceive something else and my heart started to race quickly. I pulled back the sheets, hurriedly getting out of bed and ran over to the window. What I saw made me stiff all over and my heart immediately dropped into my stomach...
