Alpha’s Slave Luna -
Chapter 14
Otis's
POV
I could feel the pain in my body intensifying as the heat took over my bones, muscles, and veins. My body seemed to be changing dramatically.
Otis! Hold on!
A voice appeared in my head.
It was... Was this my first SHIFT?
The pain was almost pulling me into the abyss. My bones seemed to be breaking and popping one by one, I was almost blurred in consciousness, and time seemed to be stretched beyond recognition.
I don't know how long it took for the pain to diminish. When I opened my eyes, my body had undergone a dramatic change.
I looked at my body with surprise. Now I was in the form of a wolf, and the fur on my body was silvery white. I could feel that my claws and teeth were very sharp and powerful. My senses became sharper, I was able to hear the distant sounds of insects clearly, and I could even smell the scent of footprints on the floor beyond the room.
My shift worked!
The shift improved my physical fitness again, which meant I was one step closer to my goal of revenge. What a thrill that was!
The light outside the window is gradually getting brighter, and the time now seems to be morning.
I transformed back into a human being.
After the first shift, I was able to change my human and wolf forms without any problem, and the pain from the shift was much less and was well within my tolerance.
I finished all my work as a maid with a joyful feeling and then went straight to the training ground.
I didn't expect Marsh to be standing at the entrance of the training ground waiting for me so early!
"Happy Birthday! Otis!" Marsh's sincere wishes reached my ears, he smiled at me.
"Oh! Thank you, Marsh!"
The moment I heard the birthday wish, I felt as if the whole world had brightened up. I never thought that I would remember my birthday just by saying Marsh once. I felt a warm feeling that I hadn't felt in a long time.
In the eight years of Grey Pack, no one knew my birthday or said happy birthday to me.
The tear was swirling inside my eyes. I hurriedly covered half of my face with one hand.
I really didn't expect anyone to congratulate me on my birthday.
Marsh patted me on the shoulder as if he understood what I was thinking. But he didn't comfort me, he just said to me in the same tone as usual, "You've been able to shift successfully now, right? I think today you should be able to stop your training for a while and go running inside the forest to really feel what it's like to transform into a wolf."
I let go of my sadness, wiped my tears away, and showed a sincere smile.
"Thank you, Marsh. I also want to know what it's like to run inside the forest in my wolf form."
Following Marsh's footsteps I soon reached the forest, and unlike the last time, this time I had mastered how to SHIFT.
My paws were close to the ground. The silvery-white fluffy fur wrapped around my entire body, and my keen perception allowed me to gain almost instant insight into everything around me.
Birds, bugs, animals... Their scents and sounds reached my ears and nose. The leaves of the trees gently sounded under the wind. I could even tell which location the leaves were shaking, and almost nothing escaped the capture of my senses.
This feeling is really addictive.
I let out a wolf howl to the sky.
Marsh also shifted. he turned into a brown wolf, his eyes were also brown, his body was strong and he seemed to have great strength.
We shifted into wolves and ran through the mountains and forests. The soft soil was under our feet, the roots of the grass passed through my fingers, and the wind blew with the scent of the forest inside. I felt great relief all over my body. I kept on speeding up, relying on my speed to quickly pass through the trees, which were almost becoming a stigma in my eyes.
I felt as if nothing could stop me inside the forest, it was as if this was my home.
"Wow! Otis, you're amazing! I didn't expect you to be so fast!"
I turned my head in the direction the voice came from and saw that Marsh was right behind me, but he didn't look very relaxed.
In no time, we arrived at our destination, the stump where we chatted last time. This time it took us much less time to get here. Marsh and I sat on it for a short rest.
"Otis, you're really fast! I feel like the trees and obstacles have almost no effect on you." Marsh looked at me with shock in his eyes.
"You have such a high talent in speed and evasion, as well as a keen sense of smell and hearing... Are you a Grey Pack werewolf? As far as I know, the werewolves of this pack are only known for their great physical strength, but their movements are very sluggish..." "I... I'm not a Grey Pack werewolf."
"What?" Marsh looked interested, "What pack are you from?"
I remembered my pack, which perished eight years ago, and the painful memory silenced me.
"Otis... Are you okay?"
Marsh sounded like he sensed my slump and his inquiry sounded hesitant.
"If you don't want to talk about it then don't. Everyone has privacy."
"No, we're friends and it's not something that can't be mentioned."
I gave him a look.
"I'm from Bright pack and have an amicable family. But, that day, Grey Pack invaded our territory. They brutally slaughtered our members in our territory. My parents were killed, and I was taken away by them as a slave."
Inside this undisturbed forest, I poured out my pain to my friends. My past, my sorrow, my resentment and hatred of being mistreated by all as a slave in the territory of my enemies. The moment I finished, I felt much lighter all over.
I was even more determined that I wanted to take revenge. Now I am walking on the road to becoming stronger, so I can't be afraid of my past. I had to be strong inside.
Marsh was silent for a long time after hearing my words. I felt that he seemed to look at me with more soft emotions in his eyes.
"Actually, I have a similar past to yours," Marsh spoke slowly. The wind blowing inside the forest awakened our memories.
"Back then, our pack's territory was also invaded by other packs. They wantonly slaughtered our members in our land, and only a small number of people eventually escaped. After that, we reestablished our home under the leadership of Conrad, the son of Alpha, and fought through countless desperate times to survive that dark period..."
Marsh slowly told me the story of Blue-moon Pack's past.
I was very surprised by the similarity of our past.
Marsh and Conrad, so they both have the same experience with me?
At that moment, Conrad's imposing figure appeared in my mind.
Since they had gone through the same thing, why were Conrad's and Marsh's personalities so different?
Marsh would guide my training carefully, give me help, and be my friend just like Mrs. Wynna. But Conrad was completely different! He was a tyrant! I don't even know to this day what it is that keeps him so disgusted with me.
The morning passed quickly, and Marsh and I ran almost half of the forest before returning to the training ground almost at noon.
Marsh told me he had to go to the kitchen and would be back later, and the look on his face before he left made me curious.
I waited quietly at the training ground for Marsh's return as he had requested, during which I kept replaying the feeling of running through the forest, but after waiting for a while I didn't see Marsh's figure.
What's going on? Why hadn't he come back yet? I remembered that the distance between the kitchen and the training ground is not very far, could it be that anything stopped him?
I waited a little longer, Marsh still did not come back, when two strong men suddenly appeared in front of the training ground and came towards me.
They were very strong and their tall bodies stood out even in the crowd. I guessed that they were the pack's warriors.
Wait? Their target seemed to be me? Why?
They walked up to me and grabbed my wrist.
"What are you guys doing? Why are you grabbing me?"
I was alarmed and asked what they were up to, but I was greeted by their cold words.
"It's Alpha's orders."
