Otis's

POV

I heard them shouting behind me. They gradually approached me, but I didn't feel panic. Panic didn't help in the slightest, excessive nervousness would make my heart beat faster, affecting my breathing rate, which would slow me down. I took advantage of my petite size and speed to quickly navigate through the jungle and soon managed to get rid of them.

I let out a long sigh of relief. However, just at that moment, the tip of my nose seemed to smell some more scent that didn't belong to the forest.

There must be a clue around here! Great! I found the clue to the fourth badge!

The sun was slowly setting towards the west, and soon it was time to finish training.

I rushed towards the training ground. The young wolves also returned to the training ground one by one. They were exhausted, and some of them had injuries on their bodies.

I looked up and found Marsh waiting at the training ground long ago.

"Through this training, I have a general understanding of your situation. I will strengthen the training for your deficiencies." Marsh looked at everyone.

"Now you can all take out your badges."

I scanned around and found that most of the werewolves didn't have anything in their hands. Only four werewolves pulled out their badges.

Three werewolves had only one badge, while one had three. His body was a bit stronger than the other werewolves, but his body had many small visible wounds that were almost all over his body.

He seemed to have been through many scuffles.

This man with three badges stuck out his chest, and the badge in his hand seemed to make him feel confident.

Then I showed the four badges in my hand to everyone. The badges emitted a golden glow under the evening light, and that instant attracted the attention of almost everyone.

"It's Otis!!! She collected four badges! How is this possible? She obviously couldn't even defeat me!"

"I struggled to defeat several difficult guys in a row before I managed to grab three badges. But Otis collected four badges without any trouble!"

"I saw the badge in her hand when I was inside the forest. I tried to grab it, but she ran so fast that I couldn't catch up!"

Everyone's eyes were focused on me, only instead of the shame and aggravation I used to feel, these eyes made me feel a strong sense of fulfillment and glory.

This is something I have never felt before. It was a feeling like nothing I had ever felt before!

This feeling was like a light that dispersed much of the darkness I was in. I felt like I was filled with motivation and I wanted to be stronger! I wanted to have the approval of Conrad! I wanted to take revenge on Grey Pack! "Otis. You're the unquestioned champion this time. I didn't expect you to have such a high talent in Seeker. You're fit to be a Seeker."

Marsh's voice rang out, his expression both surprised and approving.

"I saw your performance inside the forest. Your speed and sense of smell and hearing are far superior to other wolves, and you were even able to rely on this talent to avoid fighting with other wolves. It's not surprising that you were able to find four badges." Marsh walked over to me.

"Your talent is perfect for Seeker! I will apply to Alpha Conrad, I hope you make good use of this opportunity and strengthen your training!" Make me a Seeker?

I could hardly believe it when I heard Marsh's words, but Seeker is a very important position in the pack. In addition to being responsible for the vigilance of the wolves around the pack, this position also has the job of probing other packs for information when necessary, almost acting as the eyes and ears of the pack.

I never thought that I would be recommended by Marsh to be a Seeker!

But at this point, I suddenly thought of Conrad.

What did he think? Would he approve of me, a slave, becoming Seeker of the pack?

I couldn't speculate whether he would agree or not, which made my heart unable to help but feel nervous and apprehensive.

Anyway, my training did work out well. I just need to keep on and I will get stronger.

I didn't think too much about anything else, it was now time for dinner and I needed to prepare dinner for Conrad. I carefully took the badge that was given as a reward and carried it with me. Then I went to Conrad's place with the dinner prepared in the kitchen. When I met Conrad, he was leaning back on the couch. Upon hearing me open the door, he glanced in my direction with that powerful gaze that almost made me lose my composure.

"Marsh told me about you. Do you think you're worthy enough to be the Seeker of our pack?"

His voice came into my ears. He looked at me with a gaze that almost made me feel as if there was not an ounce of me to hide, as if I was completely penetrated by his razor-sharp eyes.

I felt the pressure.

I tensed up, but when I thought about my goal of becoming stronger, a sudden strength arose in me to resist this pressure.

"I will do it for you!"

I said these words with all my strength and looked at him seriously.

At that moment, Conrad stood up from the couch and approached me. I was taken aback by his sudden move and tried to back up but found a hard wall behind me.

My mind instantly became confused and my heart kept pounding.

He stopped in front of me and braced one of his hands against the wall behind me, his dark blue eyes looking down at me from above, followed by his other hand cupping my chin.

He was so close to me that the strength in his grip prevented me from breaking free. I could smell his attractive hormonal scent and shirt scent. He stared at me, and at this moment I was so nervous that my brain almost went blank and my cheeks grew hot. What was he going to do?

Conrad lowered his head to my cheek and his low voice wrapped around my ear along with the heat of his breath.

"You're not qualified to be a Seeker."

I wasn't qualified?

My whole body froze in place as if struck by lightning.

I trained hard just to get stronger! I even got Marsh's approval in yesterday's training! But now my efforts were denied by Conrad!

No! Why wasn't I qualified?

My heart was filled with disbelief.

How could he just conclude that I was not qualified?

I don't know where the courage came from, but my mind was overwhelmed. I lifted my head hard and met his eyes.

"In what way am I not qualified?

Conrad flashed a smile, then he suddenly took a step back and showed me the badge he was holding.

"I admit that you may have some talent, but becoming a Seeker requires more than just speed and dodging, it also requires the insight and vigilance to observe everything. Yet, just now, you didn't even notice that I had taken your stuff. How do you expect me to believe that you are qualified?"

My badge?

I felt like I almost froze when I saw the badge in his hand.

When did he take the badge away?

"You're still too weak."

I looked at Conrad's icy expression and suddenly I remembered the way those people looked at me when I stayed in Gray Pack.

No! I want his approval! I had to get that chance!

In this instance, a flame seemed to appear inside me, a flame that burned away all my fears. I looked at the badge in his hand.

It was an honor that belonged to me, and I was going to take it back with my strength!

"I can prove it!"

I emphasized almost all the syllables as I uttered those words. Then I lunged at him, and our distance quickly closed. I tried to grab the badge from him as fast as I could.

Conrad's eyebrows twitched, and he looked as if he was a little surprised by my action. In the next second, he moved slightly to avoid my palm, putting distance between us again.

No! My badge!

I felt like my heart suddenly stopped beating as frustration and powerlessness grabbed me.

I tried hard, but I couldn't grab anything.

My body collapsed toward the front, the cold, hard ground and me getting closer and closer. My whole body joints were overtaken by an uncontrollable sense of loss and sadness, and I was completely unable to make a move to protect myself. Just then, an irresistible force wrapped itself around my waist. The scene in front of me changed.

I was leaning on a broad, strong shoulder.

"Good speed. But you are too clumsy."

He spoke to me almost close to my ear, and my neck and cheeks began to heat up uncontrollably.

I leaned into Conrad's arms, but only paused for a couple of seconds before I began to struggle with all my might.

I had to get my badge! I have to prove to him that I can be Seeker!

I shouted in my mind, but the strength of his shackles on me seemed like a boulder that was hard to shake. I used all my strength to not let him budge a bit.

A cold object was pressed against my neck, and Conrad bowed his head. His handsome Apollo-like face came closer and closer to me, and the color of his eyes became deeper as if an abyss was hidden inside.

He squeezed the badge against my neck with great force. The instinctive feeling of fear almost made me lose the strength to struggle instantly.

"If this badge were my claws or teeth, you would be dead by now."

He let go of the badge as if teasingly after saying this in an icy voice. The cold metal badge slid down my collar into my shirt and down my neck to my cleavage, where it was stopped by my bra. The badge was pressed against my chest and my skin was irritated by the cold metal causing my body to shiver.

The action was so tantalizing that I couldn't help but think of a pink emotion.

I stopped struggling and my brain went blank. I couldn't help but stare at the knot of his throat close at hand, that sexy knot rolling up and down in my vision, making my mouth go dry. I feel a desire rise from the small of my back until Conrad's voice recalls my sanity.

"I agree. You can go be Seeker, but don't get paranoid and run away."

Time flew by after that day, but the images of what happened that time repeatedly replayed inside my mind.

The moment I heard Conrad agree to let me become a Seeker, I felt my heart suddenly filled with hope.

My time away from Grey Pack had become so different. When I was at Grey Pack, I could feel that there was little hope ahead of me, that I was walking on a road with no light. But now, the light has come back to envelop me. I didn't think about running away from Blue-moon Pack. I had run away because I wanted to stay in Grey Pack and wait for my chance to get revenge, but now I found more opportunities to become stronger here.

Besides, there are my friends here, Wynna, Marsh... and Conrad. I'm not sure what he thinks of me is, or what he mean to me, but I just think I'm grateful that he brought me here from that hell.

The night made it hard to sleep. Suddenly, I was seized by a sharp pain.

Intense pain wrapped around every bone in my body, and I felt as if all my bones were exploding. Cells were breaking down into atoms and then coming back together again, over and over again. In no time my body was all wet with my sweat.

I bit my lip grabbed the sheets and rolled around on the bed, but it did nothing to relieve my pain.

What the hell is going on here? What's happening to me? Am I going to die?
