An Affair With My Ex -
Chapter 20
Abby's POV.
I walked on the cross way as I was eager to get to the other side of the road.
The heavy rain that had kept on pouring like it was going to be its last day to drop on earth made it so difficult for me to see clearly.
I was so devastated considering the fact that I was finally sent out of the school by my supposed to be junior staff.
I was still on the crosswalk with numerous thoughts popping into my head. It felt like my brain was about to explode like a time bomb waiting for it's set hour to destroy everything around it.
I walked sluggishly on the crosswalk not minding the fact that the cars were only obeying the traffic lights and not a human walking on the way.
My head still had complicated thoughts fighting to take over my entire body system when suddenly, a lady came at me and dragged me by my wrist out of the crosswalk forcefully.
"Do you wish to die!!" She yelled out with her eyes all red and her cheek trembling with fear.
She had a blond hair and a sparkling blue eye contacts. She was putting on a black garment from her head down to her toe.
From her dressing, it was obvious that she was just returning from a funeral service.
I stood still staring endlessly at her like I was lost and didn't know what I was. I was actually lost, truth me told.
Seeing how fast she was, I turned around and discovered that I almost got hit by a sea blue vehicle that couldn't wait for me to walk pass the highway.
It must have somewhere important to head to. I guessed to myself before I darted my gaze from the highway to the all in black lady standing astonished in front of me.
'Why does she keep looking at me that way? Do I look sick or something?' I asked myself inwardly as I looked around my surroundings.
Everyone had their eyes on me like they knew me from somewhere. Most of them actually stared at me like I was just released from the insanity department in Perusia. They mumbled among themselves as they kept their eyes placed on the insane escape which was me.
"Are you okay?" the lady who had rescued me from the highway a few minutes back questioned with her hand placed on my shoulder as she pulled me out of my thoughts. She was obviously wondering what and why I had almost killed myself on the highway like my life meant nothing to me.
"I am fine, thank you" I responded looking awfully down and low-spirited to speak any more word to her.
I spurned and was about leaving but then, her statement had made me stand at a spot.
"I can really help you if you allow me to" She assured with a friendly look on her face like she was a secret agent sent to me from the land of the spiritual.
I paused for a while before turning around to take a glance at her face, which had to brighten up just to soothe me.
She wasn't someone I knew or have seen before so why the hell wouldn't she let me be? I thought to myself with a disgusted aura surrounding me.
I heaved a sigh and without uttering a word, I walked out of her sight slowly. Every damn step I took made me recall my moments as a professor in the university.
Now I barely had anything left to think of. I couldn't even brag about having anything related to Alex, my Ex Lover.
Finally, I got to my house after the long walk filled with frustration and depression. The air alone that came ate while I took a walk to my house, I felt and wished I was dead.
I unlocked the door and frantically conveyed my weak and useless body into the house which was the only peaceful and anxiety-free place I could stay in.
It was the only place that could accept me for who I was and not despise me regardless of what.
"I wish they would all die soon and never see the bright day of tomorrow" I cursed without minding the meaning of my words. I was bitter and wasn't sure about what I was saying to myself.
Here I was, still trying to figure out why Kate was in Kay's office and what relationship she had with her that made Kay fire me when suddenly, I heard a knock on my door.
It was so loud that it had actually made me jerk in fear from the couch which I was sitting on and mourning my job which I had just lost.
"I thought I wouldn't be receiving any silly visitors today! Why is someone at my doorstep?" I blurted out of disgruntlement in my heart with my face looking so fierce.
I stood up from the couch I was resting on and reached for the door handle swiftly to unveil who was standing in front of my door.
"Hey Pretty!!" Jack greeted with a tender smile on his face as he lifted a flask which was obviously filled to the brim with food.
He looked extremely excited to be with me in my house, but I didn't because I had just lost something so dear to me.
"What are you doing here?" I hesitated before I questioned with a long face which showed discontentment.
"What is wrong, Abby? Are you not happy that I am here to see how you are faring?" He inquired, noticing the uninteresting look I had put on all over my body.
"Come on, come in" I ushered with a feigned smile on my face as I walked in before him to go sit on my couch sluggishly.
"What is happening Abby, tell me ... You know you can always count on me" He assured, placing his hand on my hair as he tucked in a few strands of hair at the back of my ear.
