Chapter 12

THEO

I had to get out of the guest house.

I couldn't listen to her say those three words to him.

She should be saying them to me.

I ran out of the guest house as fast as I could, but I shifted into Jake. He needed the run as he was pissed off as I was at the conversation we were listening to.

"Mate should want us," he says in my head with a whine.

I don't say anything.

I can feel his pain. I feel the same.

We run for a while as we take the long way back, and I shift as soon as I get to the pack house.

On the top step was Summer. She looked at me. "I'm sorry for the slap," she said as I came closer to her. She hands me a pair of sports shorts, since Jake shredded my clothes when he shifted.

I sat next to her. "Did you know Hayley had a boyfriend back home?" I asked her.

She looks back at me and shakes her head. "No, she never told me, her mother was angry at her about something when she came back in when she went to see her and she asked me the same question if I knew she had a boyfriend," she says. "I found out when he was wanking himself off to her on the phone," I say through gritted teeth.

She doesn't say anything, she just looks at me.

"I want her Summer, I always have," I say. "How the fuck did I fuck up?"

"You didn't know she was your mate, you just went with what you thought was right, I still stand by that even though it was a dick move," She says and sighs. "You are mates, she will want you and you will want her, so how about you both get back to getting to know each other, it's been five years since you last seen each other."

Summer's right, we don't even know anything about each other, we should talk even though when I'm around her all I want is her.

"You know, it's the second part of the party tomorrow. Why not go there in the day to see if you both can do something other than sex?" she says with a smirk. "I can smell her on you."

I chuckle. "Okay, I think I can manage that, even though it is so damn hard. Have you seen how good she looks?"

Summer giggles. "Yeah, I have noticed she is one hot lady," she says and punches me in the arm. "Theo, she has been away for five years. Things are going to be weird between you both. You haven't seen each other since then, even if she did come to her father's funeral. Neither of you saw each other. I still can't believe you nearly had a fight with Harrison. What the hell happened?"

I stare out; I know both Alpha Jacob and Summer have been asking the same question to me. I sigh. "We had a disagreement about something," I say.

"Cut the bullshit. Jacob's not here. He is in the office dealing with pack business, it's just you and me," she says.

I sigh again.

"Harrison was pissed off at me. He told me that Hayley came back here to see me, but she left crying," I said. "What do you mean, she came back to see you? When?" She asks, looking confused.

I shrug. "I never saw her; I have been waiting for the chance to see her and make it right with her for so long. I didn't know what he was on about," I say to her and turn to look at her. "He was pissed. He wasn't making much sense."

Summer goes quiet for a while. "Theo, maybe she did come and see you. Did you ever have a sniff of her scent around that time?" she says. "She might have been too scared to see you. She looks the same as Hayley, but her eyes say more." I stare at her; I'm trying to figure out if I ever smelt her scent anywhere around here. But I can't place it anywhere.

"So Harrison wanted to punch you because of that. Harvey wanted to kill you but he rescued you from Harrison. You and I know they are very protective over Hayley even when she was in high school," she says with a giggle. "Remember when they chased you out of her room after the two of you had sex?"

I smirk but can't help chucking. "Yeah, I remember. It was the night before prom," I said, but suddenly felt the guilt wash over me from that night.

Summer sighs. "How is Hayley going to forgive and forget about that night if you don't?" She says "I think tomorrow go there with a clear head and talk to her."

I look back at her and smile. "When did you become so grown up all of a sudden?" I say, but she glares at me. "I'm mated to the alpha, Beta. I'm your Luna, but I'm still your friend too."

I look at her and smile. "I think we best get inside before Alpha Jacob thinks we are up to no good."

She laughs and we head inside. We just got to the office when the door opens and Alpha Jacob walks out. "Well, my Luna, time for..." he says and looks at me.

I cringe. Please don't finish that sentence.

"Well, if it isn't my beta," he says with a smirk.

"I'm off to bed," I say to him and Summer, I leave them to it. I can hear hushed words being said and Luna screams as Alpha Jacob drags her back into the office.

I head to my room on the second floor, and I can smell a familiar scent. I can't help but growl.

There, standing outside my room, was Carly with a smirk. "Baby, I have..." but I cut her off straight away. "Get the fuck away from me. I got a mate."

She looks at me, stunned. "MATE, WHO?" she says, but looks at me and laughs. "Hayley, Hayley is your mate."

I can't help what happens next. I move close to her and wrap my hand around her throat. "Listen to her slut, I am mates with Hayley. It has always been her. You come anywhere near my room or her, I will rip your throat out," I say, squeezing a little tighter on her throat.

She nods her head. "Yes...I...under....stand," she says through gasps.

I let her go and fell in a heap on the floor. "You better not be here when I open my door," I snarl.

Within seconds, she gets up and runs away. I open my door and head inside.

I don't want to wash just yet as I have Hayley's scent on me and it is so calming.

In the morning, we can talk and sort whatever it is we need to sort out.

I climb into bed and fall asleep as an image of Hayley enters my mind.

I only went around the corner and stopped. I was holding onto my neck. That bastard bitch will pay.

I looked downstairs and heard the office door open; Alpha Jacob and Summer are walking out and heading into their room.

I wait for a moment till I hear the door close behind them.

I walk over to the office door and open it; I head inside and walk to behind the desk.

I sit down and log into the computer. I look at what work that Alpha Jacob was doing beforehand and then spot an email. I open it and see the documents of the new business he finalized. I can't help but smirk.

My phone vibrates out, and I grab it to look at the screen. I swipe to answer. "Have you read the document and signed it?" the male voice says into the phone. He never says anything before it.

I sigh. "Yeah he has, they are in front of me," I say.

The man laughs. "The stupid alpha is as stupid as that young wolf you are after. We will take over the pack within a week," he says. "Now, daughter, make sure you are not around when this goes down." "I know," I say and hang up on him.

I look through my messages. That stupid human hasn't enough messaged me yet.

I log off and make sure everything is as Alpha Jacob left it.

I opened the door and looked both ways; no one was around so I left the office and headed to my room.

ALPHA JACOB

"I will be back," I said to my mate.

My phone was showing someone had entered the office; I stepped out and noticed Carly leaving the office.

I can't help but smirk.

Finally, the bitch has fallen for the trap we sent up.
