Another Chance for the Beta
Chapter 13

THEO

I woke up early and went for a run.

I came back to the pack house just as everyone was waking up. I headed to the dining hall and grabbed some food. I was hungry.

I take my place and eat. Summer walks over to the table. "You're up early," she says and smirks. "Why is that I wonder?"

I smile, "Good morning Luna. It is a lovely morning, isn't it?" I say, which takes Summer by surprise, but I smile. "I am up early because there is one hell of a hot lady I need to see and talk to. I was wondering what the alpha and Luna have planned for the day?"

She smiles. "Well Beta, we are going to head to Ruth's help with the second part of the party so we can all go together if you want. We will be leaving in half an hour," she says. I smile and nod.

I eat all of my food and head back to my room; I quickly showered and got myself dressed. I headed downstairs where I met Alpha Jacob and Summer, who looked at me, smiling. "Still looking dashing, Theo," says Alpha Jacob with a grin on his face.

"Do you two want a room?" Says Summer with a smirk. "It is quite interesting to see you two..." she says, but it cuts off with Alpha Jacob's mouth on hers.

He growls. "I'm not taking anyone else to my bed Luna, so be..."

I snarl, why the hell they have got to do this shit in front of me?

I walk out of the door with the two of them laughing behind me.

We all climb into the car and head straight to Ruth's.

It didn't take too long to get there. Some people were coming with food ready for tonight and also Aunt Jackie was there laughing.

We parked up, and all climbed out. We headed inside to find Ruth staring at the back window, looking towards the guest house.

"She has been like that all morning," says Aunt Jackie. "I told her to go and make up with her before she went to bed, but she didn't listen."

Aunt Jackie leaves as the delivery of the drink turns up.

Alpha Jacob and I hung back while Summer walked over to Ruth.

"Ruth," she says quietly. "You okay?"

Ruth keeps looking out of the window. "Yeah, I'm fine. I thought she would be awake by now as she went to bed early," she says.

"How about if I go and see if she is awake?" Says Summer.

Ruth nods but still looks out of the window.

Summer turns to Alpha Jacob and me. She smiles and walks out of the back door towards the guest house.

I couldn't help but stand with Ruth by the window, hoping to catch a glimpse of the girl I love.

"You were there last night, weren't you?" asks Ruth. "How was she when you left?"

I don't say anything, as I can't get into that with Hayley's mother.

Suddenly, Alpha Jacob walks outside and heads to the guest house. This doesn't look good.

Something doesn't feel right.

I turn and leave; I head straight to the guest house. Summer standing by the door. "Her suitcase is here, but she's not."

I barge inside, nearly knocking Summer over; she growls.

I look around the guest house. There is no sign of Hayley anywhere.

"WHERE THE FUCK IS SHE?" Shouts Summer, who glares at me.

I look back at her. "When I left here last night she was here," I say.

The door opens slightly and Ruth walks, looking around. "What's going on?" She asks in a small voice.

Alpha Jacob comes out of the bathroom but doesn't say anything.

"WHERE THE HELL IS HAYLEY? WHERE IS MY DAUGHTER?" Shouts Ruth.

"She's not here," says Summer.

"Ruth, why don't we all go inside the house? She might have gone for a run or something. Her suitcase is still here," she says.

Ruth looks around the room and nods. "I think you're right, she did like to run back in the day, didn't she?"

Ruth and Summer walk outside once they are out of here, shot. "There is no sign of her. She just left with nothing," says Alpha Jacob.

He looks at me. "What did you both do?" He asked me.

I look at him. "Really, you're going to ask me that?" I say, but he glares at me. I sigh, "I came here to see here, but we didn't do much talking. We fucked, okay? We fell asleep, but her phone was going off. She went into the bathroom to answer it," I say and look at him. "I shouldn't have eavesdropped, I heard a man's voice, he was wanking himself off to her," I say with a snarl escaping. "I left before she came out of the bathroom, it was too much for Jake and I. We ran all the way back to the pack house," I said.

Alpha Jacob looks at me for a moment and sighs. "Dude, I did tell not to do anything stupid. We all don't know what kind of life Hayley has got," he says and starts to walk to the door and stops, looking over his shoulder at me. "She'll come back; we will wait in the house."

We both headed out with me, taking in one look at the guest house.

We head back inside to find Harrison and Emma with Ruth. She must have told them.

Harrison looks at me and growls. "Well," he says, but he is cut short by a voice coming in through the front door, Hayley's other brother Harvey. "Where is everyone?"

"We are in here, Harvey," shouts Ruth as Harrison glares at me.

Harvey walks in and looks at all of us.

"What's going on?" Says Harvey. "Why do you all look like that and why does Harrison look like he is going to murder Theo? What did he do?"

We all look back at him while Summer tells him everything about Hayley not being there, he looks between all of us and sighs. "You need to sit down, Hayley phoned me last night, she needed to go back home due to work," he said. We all growled.

"What do you mean she went back?" says Ruth. "She better not be going back to that boyfriend."

I look at her; she looks at me with a small smile. "Did she tell you that she got a boyfriend back in Florida?"

I nodded but couldn't open my mouth to say anything.

Jake is on edge as it is.

"She has a boyfriend back in Florida. Harvey, did you know about it?" asks Harrison.

We all look at Harvey, whose face is motionless. "Yeah, I did. I introduced them," he says casually.

"She has a mate," shouts Ruth. "How could you..."

Harvey looks at her. "SHUT IT," he says as we all look back at him, stunned. "Leave it alone, Hayley is back home to deal with a work matter. She is coming back. She has never lied to me."

Ruth looks at Harvey. "How dare you speak to me like that?" She says and lifts her hand, but Harvey catches her hand before it connects to his face, he snarls "I know you argued with Hayley before she left, she told me. Hayley didn't want to come here, you know that, but you had me to tell the boss," he says with a growl.

I can feel hurt sweeping in as he talks. She never wanted to come back home.

"Hayley needs to be back there or both of us won't have a job to come back too," he says as he lets go of Ruth's hand and places it down on the counter. "Mum, she will be back, I promise."

Ruth glares at him and storms off.

"We will go and keep an eye on her," says Summer, looking towards Emma, who is agreeing with her.

Once the girls follow Ruth and are in her room. "Harvey, what aren't you telling us?" Harrison says, glaring at him.

Harvey looks at him and then at me. "She told me that you were both mates ages ago," he says, which shocked me.

My mouth fell open. "How?" I managed to get out.

He looks at me "It's not my story to tell Theo but I will tell you that what she is doing back at home is hard and she might need me to answer her call so I need you two dipshits to back off when she does," he says looking between Harrison and I.

Harvey looks at Alpha Jacob. "Actually Alpha, can I borrow you for a moment in the study?"

Alpha Jacob nods and walks away with Harvey while Harrison and I are left in the kitchen, staring back at them.

Suddenly Aunt Jackie comes in with a bottle of whiskey in her hand. "What time is the party starting, boys?" She says, then takes a long swig of the whiskey straight from the bottle.

"Not for another five hours Aunt Jackie," says Harrison through gritted teeth.

She takes another swig of whiskey and then heads back into the next room.

Harrison turns and leaves, leaving me on my own.

This is going to be a long day, I just wish I knew why Hayley had to go.
