Chapter 44

THEO

We have them surrounded, and they all sound like they are having a party.

There are at least three thousand rogues here.

We are all crouched down around the perimeter of where mainly some are staying in human form. They must have been here for weeks with the tents and the stench that was coming from this campsite gave it all away. A loud, piercing scream comes from a tent and I'm doubled over in pain.

"MATE," how's Jake in my head. I can't help but double over in pain once again and lean into a tree in front of me.

Alpha Jacob, Harvey and Harrison look at me. "What's going on?" asks Harvey through a mind link.

"They're torturing her, I can feel it. We need to go now," I say through gritted teeth.

Alpha Jacob lets out an almighty roar and all the pack members are charging straight into some very confused rogues. We all follow Alpha Jacobs's lead with Harvey, Harrison and I joining him. There are loads of rogues and everyone is mucking in even the she-wolf's turn on the rogues and attacks them. I noticed one skinny looking woman but when she turned around; it was Ashley; she used to go to school with Hayley and me.

"Agent Matthews will be joining us soon and she has brought some more people with her too, even the odds for us," says Harvey suddenly through mind link.

Jake wants out and we look towards a tent that the scream came from but someone is screaming around the side catches me off guard. It's Lucy. A rogue was dragging her away; she looks like she doesn't want to go willingly with him. Jake has had enough now; we shift into our wolf form and attack the hideous man. Jake jumps onto top of him and bites through his neck with one bite and rips his head clean off. Jake is pissed and wants to do more but another agonizing scream comes from the tent which both Jake and I knew to be Hayley but the pain she's in is too much to take, I shift back into my human form and Lucy looks towards the tent and then back at me. "Ruth is going to kill her," she screams. "Theo, you need to get in there."

I was about to move when a man who I had recognized from the footage earlier and who I had wanted dead for killing my parents came out to find the carnage of dead rogues and the fighting going on.

I growl loudly at him.

He turns and faces me, but when he recognizes my face; he smirks. "Ah, Beta, you have the beauty of a mate," he says. "I had my way with her, but now I think I will kill you instead and let her mother kill her." He growls.

I was about to attack him suddenly. "THEO DUCK," shouts Alpha Jacob through the mind link and I do as I am told as Alpha Jacob's wolf jumps over me and lands right in front of me. "Go to Hayley, Harvey, and Harrison will be with you," he says. "I will avenge our parents," he says with anger and rage fueling him for the both of us.

Gary shifts into a mattered black wolf, which is no match for Alpha Jacob's wolf, who probably has a good foot over him.

Gary's wolf looks at Alpha Jacobs and snarls, charging straight at him. I ran out of the way as the two wolves clashed and I ran straight to the entrance of the tent opening but stopped suddenly when I heard Ruth. "You pathetic little bitch, you need to die," she says and I walk in as she lifts her knife to strike Hayley.

There is blood everywhere all over the tent; Hayley seems to be slipping in and out of consciousness.

I growl loud. "DROP THE KNIFE," I say through gritted teeth. "RUTH NOW."

She looks at me and smiles. "Theo, why would you want her to be your mate? You could have had Carly instead," she says.

I use my wolf speed and take the knife off her, gripping her throat as Harrison and Harvey come into the tent.

The scene around us looks like a horror movie gone wrong.

I squeeze the bitch's neck. Ruth gasps.

"Theo, let her go," says Harrison. "You need to be with Hayley, she needs you."

I growl.

I slowly loosen my grip but Ruth gasps for breath but she starts to laugh. "You all pathetic bunch of idiots, she needs to die" she says, "her father will hunt her..." she says, but she is cut off with Harvey growling at her as he walks over to her and plunges a needle into her neck, without knowing what was it.

She collapses on the floor in a heap as Agent Matthews walks in. "What the hell did you just give her?" she asks. "We don't know..." she says, but she is cut off by Alpha Jacob and Lucy walking in. "She was injecting Hayley with high doses of wolfsbane, that one was going to kill her," she says to Agent Matthews, she looks at Hayley and I fall to my knees as I look at the woman I love, I pick her up.

"I was trying to help her, but that rogue dragged me away," she says as tears run down her face, I look at everyone. "I need to take her," I say and without having confirmation; I carry my mate and leave the tent.

There are bodies everywhere, mainly rogues.

I start to run with my mate in my arms and head straight back to the pack hospital.

"HOLD ON BABY," I say to her, as her eyes are closed.

She looks so weak and pale; she's lost a lot of blood.

I ran as fast as I could, but a huge brown wolf ran alongside me. I know it's Harrison. He growls and attacks anything that comes in our way as we take Hayley to the hospital.

Once we get to the clearing, the pack doctor comes running out with a stretcher and five nurses.

"Theo, put her on the bed," she says as I place her on the stretcher. They run in while the pack doctor is checking Hayley and assessing her injuries, but there is too much blood everywhere.

I follow them but the pack doctor stops me as she sees me coming in with them, with Harrison following right behind me. "Both of you need to stay here. I will find you when I know more, but it will take time," she says and gives us a knowing look before heading back inside.

I feel wetness on my face. I know I'm crying. Jake is whimpering in my head, too.

Harrison looks on with a sad look on his face, but he places his hand on my shoulder as a nurse comes to us. "Let me take you to the waiting room, beta," she says. "I have brought some sports shorts for both of you."

We don't say anything but just follow her, but before we do, Alpha Jacob comes in with Lucy. "She needs to be checked out," he shouts.

"Please Alpha," Lucy says, "I need to explain everything."

Ashley, the girl I saw at the camp, hobbles in and looks at everyone. She was scared of us.

"Explain what?" he says through gritted teeth. "You were seen on cameras leaving the territory with Carly and Gary. Why would you work..." he says but he is cut off by Lucy shaking her head. "No, Alpha, we were forced to. Carly took us to the campsite with hope of a fabulous future and men,” she says with a shudder, but a tear flows down her cheek. “There used to be five of us, including Carly. When Carly offered us up as bait to the rogues to play with, two of them tried to run but were killed instantly."

"We didn't stand a chance; Lucy was only doing what she could to survive. Carly seemed to have it in her head that Lucy could make potions but she came up with a plan to have Vivian that will know that something came up," Ashley says and looks at me. "The sleeping potion, Vivian put it in your drink as she knew what Carly was like but she had a suspicion about Lucy as they never were close and never bothered to help each other so when Lucy asked for help off Vivian, she took it as something," she says.

I don't want to hear any of this. I want my mate.

I need to be with Hayley.

"We will discuss everything later, maybe you can talk to your father about it," he says to Lucy, and he turns to the guard who just walked in. "I want you to stay with these two till they are cleared to be fit and healthy."

The guard nods and motions for the girls to follow the two nurses into a room.

Alpha Jacob turns to me. "I killed that bastard," he says as he comes closer to me and places his hand on my shoulder.

"Theo," he says, but he doesn't say anything else. Harrison is now in the waiting room sitting down.

I turn around and sit down, placing my head on the wall.

"Harvey took your mother to the cells," says Alpha Jacob to Harrison. "When she wakes up I think we will have a chat with all four of us."

Harrison growls. "That bitch can rot in hell though I care," he says through clenched teeth. "She needs to die."

Alpha Jacob doesn't say anything.

We are all going through all the emotions that led up to all this.

But there is one person on my mind right now and I really want to be with her.
