Chapter 45

THEO

We have been waiting for hours for news on Hayley.

Everyone who knew her was waiting but some came and left. I'm currently sitting in the waiting room with Emma, Harrison and Alpha Jacob.

Harvey had been in a few times, but he couldn't keep still. Agent Matthews showed her face, but left when they made sure Ruth was placed in a cell and was still out cold.

Summer keeps mind linking me, asking for updates, but I've been ignoring her for the last few minutes as my head hurts.

My emotions are everywhere, and I want my mate.

Jake was whining a lot at the start. Now he has been lying in my head with his eyes full of sadness, looking back at me.

Suddenly the door opens and Vivian walks in. We all look at her, but her eyes land on me. "Theo, my mother wanted me to give you, I mean all of you, an update on Hayley," she says, looking around.

I move out of my seat and stand in front of her. "What's happening? How is she?" I ask.

Vivian looks at me. "It's not good. Hayley lost a lot of blood, but it is the wounds that they are having a problem with. They won't close up," she says, but anger in her eyes. "It looks like Ruth laced the knife with wolfs bane or some sort of poison which doesn't heal. We are working on finding an antidote for it, but it is going to take time."

I can't help but breathe hard. I can't catch my breath. Alpha Jacob is behind me with his hand on my shoulder. "Is there anything else?" He asks her.

Vivian doesn't answer him for a moment but I look at her, her eyes are staring back at mine they are holding back a lot of emotions "I...I mean there is one thing but I have to ask if anyone has the same blood type as Hayley as we are running low on blood," she says quietly.

Harrison bolts up. "Can you test us all to find who can donate?" He asks gruffly, but she shakes her head. "We need to find someone with her blood type, but it seems Hayley has a rare blood type and we are giving O neg at the moment, but we need someone with the same blood as her."

I sit back down and place my head in my hands, which rest on my knees.

"Is Ruth awake?" She asks, which earns a few growls, but Vivian shakes her head. "I don't want to talk to her. I was wondering if we could test her blood to see if she's a match," she says.

"I will link Agent Matthews to get a sample. One of her men is a lab tech. He can get it for you," says Alpha Jacob as he sits next to me.

I can feel eyes on me, but my heart is breaking as my mate isn't getting any better.

Vivian looks at me when I look up. Her tears are now flowing down her face. "I'm sorry, Theo," she says and walks out.

I close my eyes but I know when I open them I will be crying. I move up off the chair and head to the door. "Where are you going?" Asks Alpha Jacob.

I don't look over my shoulder. "I need to get out of here. I need air. Mind link me if there is any news," I say and I walk out of the waiting room door. Once in the hospital, there are nurses everywhere, but the hospital now has settled down since fighting with the rogues.

I walk towards the entrance of the hospital and walk outside.

It is now dark; the night air has become clearer somehow. I take a deep breath in. "You okay?" asks a voice by the side of me as I let the breath out.

I look over and see Lucy, who has now got a bandage and a few bruises that are hideous on her face.

She looks at me. "I know I look a sight don't I," she says. "Theo, I am sorry for everything."

I can't speak; I know my voice will fail me.

She looks at me with pity on them. "How is Hayley?" She asks.

I shake my head and sigh. "Not good," is all I can say.

Lucy turns and looks out at the forest line. "That rogue you killed was my mate," she says.

I look back at her, stunned. He was her mate; he was beating her. Why would he...

"Ralph was his name, Gary's right-hand man," she says with venom in her voice. "I didn't realize at first as I wasn't of age but he knew, he would stare at me every time Carly made us go there but when my birthday came, Carly wanted me to go to the camp with her to see Gary about something but it was all a lie, Ralph was waiting for me," she says and turns to look at me. "I was so scared, I even rejected him but he never accepted it. It was like that for us all the time. He even starts sleeping with other women just to hurt me."

A tear slides down her face, and she looks down. "Alpha Jacob told me there was footage of me meeting Gary, but it's not what anyone thinks. He wanted Ruth; he wanted her to be his. When Carly was fixated on you, Gary was getting restless and making mistakes as he wanted Ruth, she wanted Hayley home," she says. "Gary met me at the forest line but I told him I was never coming back with him but he was a sick, twisted prick, when the rogues came here Ralph knew where I lived, he chased me out of my home and beat me, tied me up."

She looks at me. "I was going to tell my father everything, but the rogues came. I was always going to tell Harvey, too. The only person I was worried about was Ashley, she was passed around to all the men," she says. "She is in the hospital and fighting for her life as one of them bastards gave her an STD."

She growled.

She looks at me. "I'm sorry I shouldn't have unloaded on you, you have enough to deal with," she says. "I want to help bring Ruth down and help Hayley."

I look at her. I was about to say something but a mind link opened up. "Theo, please don't ignore me. Come to the office. Jackie wants to speak to you and Harrison," Summer says.

As soon as the mind link shuts down Harrison comes out, he stops and stares at both Lucy and I with a grim look. "What does she..." he starts to say but I shake my head. "She was filling me in on everything that she went through and I think she should come. She might be able to help fill everyone in and what to look for," I said.

Harrison looks at her and steps in front of Lucy. "Come with us to the office," he says in a gruff voice.

She nods and we both follow him.

It doesn't take us a few minutes to get to the pack house and head straight into the office.

Everyone stares at us, eyes wander to Lucy who was in between us, a few growls escape.

"Enough, Lucy wants to make up for what she has done in the past and I know we need help in finding out what Ruth was doing," I said.

Summer looks at me but her eyes trace over my torso. I know I still have Hayley's blood on me. I haven't been back to shower as I thought I would be with Hayley.

Agent Matthews walks in with Harvey following behind.

They both look at Lucy. "I'm glad you are willing to help," says Harvey. "We need it but we have found something."

I look at him. "What did you find?" I asked.

Harvey places two boxes in front of Jackie, who looks like she needs to be sleeping, not looking over files.

"Well, our darling mother seemed to be making money for the pack but was also stealing some too, to pay into at least four offshore accounts in different names and addresses," he says as he looks through a file that he was looking for. "There was one name that has been on at least three of those accounts and who has been placing money into them," he says and pulls out the folder he was looking for.

He opens it up and looks at me. "The man in question is Nathan Daniels," he says. "Do you know him?"

I try to rack my brain, but nothing comes to mind about the name that he says.

I shake my head as the door opens to Alpha Jacob, who walks in. "Nothing still, Vivian will stay with her and let us know of any changes," he says as he looks at me.

I give him a small smile.

Turning back to Harvey. "So who is this Nathan Daniels you mentioned?" I asked.

Alpha Jacob stops in his tracks and looks between Harvey and me when I mentioned the name. "What about Nathan?" He asks us.

"You know him," asks Harvey with a curious look.

"Yeah, he was an alpha of a small pack my father knew," he says. "They were really good friends. Before my parents died, he rang my family, telling us that rogues had overrun his land and had taken over everything and they even killed his Luna and son," he says with a growl. "He went into hiding or something, as no one has ever heard from him since."

Harvey looks towards the door and I notice the figure was Agent Matthews. "Are you on about Alpha Nathan Daniels?" She asks.

We all look back at her and nod.

She looks at Harvey and then to every single one of us. "I think we need to talk about something," she says as she closes the door behind her so no one else comes in.
