Chapter 49

HAYLEY

I let go of Selene's hand and ran straight into the arms of the man who raised me as his own. His big arms wrap around me tightly.

"I have missed you so much my princess," he says as he moves away and looks down at me.

I can't help the tears that flow down my cheeks.

He turned to the side and there next to him was Dylan, Aunt Jackie's boy. He was holding hands with a four-year-old who was staring at me with a big smile. The smile reminds me of Theo. It can't be.

I look at the child. "Mama," he says and runs straight towards me, wrapping his little arms around my legs.

I look at my father and Selene, who are now smiling back at me. The boy unravels himself from me as I kneel down to look at him. Raina comes closer and sniffs him.

She hums. "Our pup," she says suddenly.

"Luke," I say in a whisper and the boy nods with his big smile. "Yes mama, it's me," he says and wraps his arms around my neck.

Tears start to flow once again as I close my eyes as I hold my son.

"I thought seeing him would help you move on slightly," says Selene. "He is in good hands, as you can tell."

I move away and look at him. "You look so much like your father," I said, and he laughs, he even his laugh sounds like Theo's too.

"I think we should sit," says my father as he looks down at both Luke and I.

There behind us were now benches which had suddenly appeared out of nowhere. "Hayley, I want to explain," my father says as we both walk over to the benches, he sits. "Your mother was evil, when she told me that she was pregnant by another man and that he hurt her. I believed her, she was too far along when she found out about you," he says as I sit next to him as Luke sits on the ground with Raina, leaning on her.

I can't help but smile, looking at them both.

Dylan sits next to the Moon Goddess.

"She was hell bent on destroying the alpha and Luna as Gary wanted them out of the way. She wanted him. She couldn't believe that the Moon Goddess could pair her up with someone like me," he says with a hint of disgust but also sadness, which makes Selene look angry but she never says a word.

My father takes my hand in his. "I made it work and made sure that Harrison and Harvey were there with you constantly," he says and smiles "Those boys are a blessing to you and I, they made sure your mother never hurt you after that night when you wet yourself, when they told me what she did I was angry and even threatened to throw her out. But she only laughed at me as I always let her get away with everything and she knew I would always have kept my word as she always threatened to take you away from me as she constantly told me every day that you were never mine."

My heart breaks hearing all of this.

"I met your father, you know," he says suddenly, which makes my eyes go wide. I look back at him. "When?" I asked.

He smiles. "He came to see your mother; he wanted to know if the child was truly his or even real, but when he came to the house, I knew straight away who he was, as you have similar features as him. I welcomed him into the house. You were outside playing with Summer on your bike at the time. We talked about you, what you were like. He even told me about Ruth which didn't surprise me one bit," he says and sighs, squeezing my hand gently.

I look at Raina and Luke, who are now sleeping, which made my heart melt at the sight of them.

"Why didn't you tell me about him?" I asked quietly.

I looked at him and he smiled back "I was planning on it, you were meant to be coming home and Nathan, your father was going to meet you but then the rogues attacked me, he couldn't come any closer to the territory or he would have been made by your mother or Gary. The plan was to go and speak to Alpha Jacob and ask him for a test to prove that you were related, which would have had your mother thrown in the cells. We were planning on making sure you were safe and he even offered to live with us too," he says. "He lost his only family and Hayley when you go back. I want you to do me and everyone here a big favor," he says.

I nod "What do you want me to do?" I asked. I hope it's killing mum because I would gladly do that right about now.

Selene laughs. "I know what you are thinking child and it would be a worthy kill but this is something that is important to your father," she says with a smile.

I look back at my father, who smiles at me. "I want you to get to know your father," he says, but my eyes go wide. "But you..." I started to say, but he shakes his head. "I will always will be your father and I will always will be but Nathan needs you as much as you need him, he would even look after Harrison and Harvey too as they remind him so much of his son but not only that, I know who is his second chance mate and it is very fitting for them both I must say," he says with a smile and looks at Selene.

My father sighs. "We don't have long hunny left to be here, but we all will be here in your heart forever till the day you come to the gate and we will be waiting for you," he says as he goes to stand.

Dylan clears his throat. I almost forgot he was here, but I look over at him. He has his big cheesiest grin on his face, the one I know Harrison has when he was happy, the one that Aunt Jackie and I love so much. "Hayley Moon," he says, which makes me grunt out. "I hate it when you used to call me that," I said, which made everyone chuckle.

But Dylan smiles back. "I know that's why I always called you it," he says "I want you to tell mum to let me and dad go, he is happy that she has been having fun and everything but she needs to be able to move on and not be stuck in the past, Carly spread a lot of vicious rumors about her which we're not happy about but she took them all in her stride. But she is lonely, we can see," he says with a hint of sadness in his eyes.

"I will. She has always been there for Harvey, Harrison and I, even for Alpha Jacob, Summer and Theo too," I said, which makes him smile. "I know."

He looks at me. "I also want you to tell Harrison to stop blaming himself for my death," he says. "He blames himself because he dragged me along to the pack but it was me who wanted to and I was the one who wanted to fight that rogue, I wasn't showing off I was protecting him," he says as a tear slides down his face and looks at me. "He was my best friend," he says quietly.

I slip my hand out of my father's hand and move off the bench. I stood up and grabbed his arms, pulled him into a hug.

He hugs me back.

Selene clears her throat. "They have to leave now, Hayley," she says quietly.

Dylan moves out of my hold and looks down at me. "Luke is in the best hands," he says, nodding towards my father and I can't help but smile at him. He places a kiss on my cheek and walks away from me, and vanishes before my eyes. I turned to look at my father, who now has Luke in his arms. Luke looks at me. "Mama, I miss you," he says and leans over my father to wrap his arms around my neck.

I hug my son back with tears flowing down my face once more.

I know this is the last time I will ever see him again, but now I have proof that he's alright and happy, but also knowing my father is looking after him.

He pulls back and looks at me while resting his head on my forehead. "Give dada a kiss from me," he says.

I nod. "I will, precious boy," I say. My father places him down as he runs over and hugs Raina's neck as she hums loudly. I can see tears flowing down her face at her pup.

I look at my father, who now has tears running down his face. "I'm so proud of you princess, we will be watching over all of you including..." he says but Selene clears her throat. "You have to leave," she says in a soft voice, shaking her head with a smile.

I hugged my father one last time. Luke and my father walk hand in hand till they vanish into thin air.

I'm crying hard, but not because I'm sad, but because I'm happy that I got to see them one last time.

Selene stands next to me. "You will be leaving soon, my child, too. I think they all have been waiting long enough for you to go back to them, haven't you?" she says with a smile.

She steps forward and places a kiss on my cheek. "You are brave and don't let that mother of yours make you think otherwise," she says.

She kneels down and pats Raina's head. "Both of you are perfect and remember, you both have each other to lean on and also your mate too," she says.

Within seconds of saying our goodbyes, Selene leaves.

Raina trots over to me and sits by my side.

"I want to go back," she says. "But I'm happy we got to see pup is ok and happy," her tail wags as she mentions Luke.

"I know it is nice to know that he is with my father," I say to her.

All of a sudden, I feel tired; I sit down next to Raina on the floor. "I'm tired," I say in a sleepy voice.

Raina also yawns. "So am I," she says.

We both lay on the grass snuggling up together.

It is so peaceful here, I thought as I slowly closed my eyes.
