Another Chance for the Beta
Chapter 51

HAYLEY

I was still in darkness for a while, but I kept hearing a voice calling to me.

I slowly opened my eyes, but I had to move my head slightly to the voice, to only come face to face with the most handsome man I love, Theo.

His big brown eyes were full of emotion looking back at me.

A tear slides down his face. "Baby," he says as he leans over me.

I smile back at him, "Theo..." I say, but he cuts me off with his mouth on mine.

I can't help but kiss him back.

After a few seconds, his head leans on my forehead. "Goddess Hayley, I've missed you so much," he says.

I can't help but close my eyes as I sniff at his scent. His scent wraps around me.

I can feel Raina in my head. She is close to the surface, panting. "Mate," she says, "I can hear mate again."

I can't help the tear that slides down my face.

A few seconds later, the door flies open as Theo moves back and looks back at whoever it was that came in and so do I. Everyone walks in.

I smile. "Hey," I say in a raspy voice.

Both Harrison and Harvey smiled brightly. "Hayley," they say together, which makes me laugh. "It's me. Can someone pass me some water, please?" I ask.

Summer comes over to me, pushing Theo out of the way, which makes him growl. "Here," she says as she holds out a cup with a straw for me to take a sip.

Alpha Jacob smiles back at me. "It is so nice to see you awake," he says as he places a hand on Theo's shoulder. "This one has been a nightmare to be around, moping around."

Theo snarls. “You would be too if..." he says, but he stops as he looks at me.

I smile back at him and hold my hand out to him. He smiles at me and moves closer to take me and takes my hand. He moves my hand to his mouth to place a kiss on it, which causes tingles to shoot through me.

I look back at everyone else who is pulling some silly faces and smirks, but I don't care.

The door opens and the pack doctor walks in with a smile on her face. "Hayley, it's so nice to finally see you awake," she says and comes over to me. She checks my vitals and moves some of the wires away, which I only recently noticed I was attached to.

"You are healing nicely, but I recommend you stay in for another day or two just to be on the safe side," she says and looks at me after she writes something down in my notes. "You gave us quite a fright."

I look at her. "I...um...how long have I been out for?" I ask, looking at her.

She looks around at everyone and then back at me. "Hayley, you were out for ten days" she says. My eyes go wide. I've been out for over a week. Wait.

I've missed Christmas, feeling quite sad.

I stare down at my hands. "I missed Christmas," I said weakly.

Theo sits on the bed next to me and places his one hand in mine while the other hand moves my chin to make me look back at him. "Baby, Christmas was put on hold. We waited for you and now you are awake. We will celebrate when you are fully recovered. There is no rush," he says as he leans down and places his lips on mine to give me a quick kiss.

I missed those lips.

I watch him as he moves away.

I want to ask the question.

"What happened to Mum?" I asked.

Some people tense in the room at the mention of her, but Harrison and Harvey snarl slightly but Alpha Jacob speaks. "Hayley, we don't..." he starts to say, but I cut him off. "I want to know," I say to them. I looked at every single person who was in the room, even the pack doctor. "I want to know. Is she alive or dead?" "She's still alive," says Harrison. "We wanted to get stuff out of her but she wouldn't speak to any of us but we also wanted to wait till you woke up.

I look back at both of my brothers; they remind me so much of my father.

Remembering the conversation with him in my dream, which I assume was my dream, "Have you found my actual birth father?" I asked them.

Everyone in the room looks back at me, shocked. "Hayley, how..." Theo starts, but I look at him. "My mother informed me that I have a different father." I said to him flatly, especially at the mention of my mother. "Her and Gary were all smiles, telling every inch of detail of how they loved hurting our dad and that he was pathetic to even want another man's child," I said with a snarl.

I look over Theo's shoulder and stare at my brother's. "Once I'm better, I want to confront Mum," I said, which earned loads of growls but I shouted, "ENOUGH!" at them and glare at everyone. "We all know she wants to know if I'm still alive and that she probably will talk more to me," I say. "I want to kill her, no one else. It is only fair, especially after everything she has put me through."

Harvey moves closer to the bed. "We will do this together as a family. All three of us need closure and if you want to kill her, both Harrison and I want to be there when you do," he says.

I look over at Harrison, who nods when I look back at him. "Whatever you want," he says and moves uncomfortably on the spot. "And Hayley, your biological father is here too. You have a rare blood type that runs in his family. I think it is only fair that you meet him and also allow him to be present in front of mum. She doesn't know that we found him also, and he has been here for the last week."

I nod. "What happened to Gary?" I asked and looked towards Theo, who smiled. "Alpha Jacob killed him during the fight when we rescued you. He won't be bothering anyone ever again."

I smile back at him as I place my hand into his. "That's good," I say with a smile and look towards the door and see a face looking in. I smile. Theo looks towards the door to see what I was looking at, but he smiles. "Let her in," says Theo. Summer opens the door and smiles. "Lucy, it's so nice to see you," she says and hugs her.

Lucy hugs her back and walks in. Behind her was a man.

"Hayley, it's so good to see you awake," she says and walks around the other side of the bed. "I am so..." she says but I shake my head. "Please do not apologies to me, I remember accepting it before Gary and my mother walked into the tent and did this to me," I said.

She looks at me with a frown. "I know but I wanted to help you but I was dragged outside by..." she says, but a growl erupts from behind her, which I look over at the man who came in with her. His face was a picture. "You mention that man's name again and I won't be happy," he says.

I look back at her, confused, but Lucy smiles at him and then turns to see my confused face. "Ah, this is Gabe," she says. "He is my second chance, mate."

I smiled at her.

"I'm so happy for you," I say to her and look at Gabe. "It is nice to meet you," I said to him.

He smiles back at me. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you, Hayley."

Everyone stays for a little while longer but Alpha Jacob, Summer, Lucy, Gabe and the doctor leave just leaving me with my brothers, their mates and Theo.

I look at Emma. Something is different with her. She seems to be glowing. I sniff the air and I know instantly what.

"Em, is there something you want to tell me?" I ask her, and she looks at Harrison, who has the biggest cheesy smile on his face. "Yeah, we do have an announcement to make," he says, placing his hand in Emma's. "We are expecting our first child," he says.

"Congratulations," I say with a big smile. "That explains the scent I could smell when Emma hugged me."

Emma looked at me. "What do you mean?"

I smile at her. "I didn't know this, but I found out when I was pregnant that our scents are really strong when she-wolves carry pups," I say to her.

Emma smiles at me. "I never knew that," she says.

Harrison smiles and looks at me. "Well we best be leaving," he says. They both give me a kiss on the head and another hug before leaving.

Harvey and Vivian are completely loved up and even finally mated and marked each other, too. They left not too long after Harrison and Emma, but Vivian whispered to me that she would be back soon. When Theo was gone she wanted to talk to me about something.

All I could do was nod to her, so no one knew what we were talking about. When they both leave, it was just Theo and I.

Theo sighs loud. "Finally," he says as he moves me over slightly on the bed and sits with me, holding me into him. "I get to have you all to myself."

I wrap my arms around him and snuggle into him.

"I love you, Hayley," he says and places a kiss on my head.

"I love you too, Theo," I say, which is followed by a yawn.

I don't know how long, but I soon fall back to sleep while Theo holds me in his arms.
